I think the charity idea is a lot better than the cardboard cutout which some might find disrespectful.

In addition to donating to charity, can we have a book of condolence where collections are being taken that can be passed onto his family via his agency at the end of the weekend?

  2. Although the cast are clearly busy trying to film the next two seasons (YES) before the kids grow up too much that there's a noticeable difference, it would be amazing to have a weekend ASOUE convention. Themed parties around the miserable mill (lucky smells lumber mill is our home) with gum and coupons, a terrible boarding school (school uniforms and awful violin concerts?) and a performance on stage of the Marvelous Marriage. I'd love to hear from the author about bringing things to life as he worked on the scripts, too. And also meet the cast and find out about the costume designs and the aesthetic for the show.

Making a total bosom of yourself in front of a celebrity. I met Paul McGann and was so in love I forgot my own name when he asked.

Don't worry I blushed so red I looked like a beetroot in my photo.

    Lol

He is so pretty it's just not fair. *swoon*

omg stop. when he gave me a hug and a kiss i literally giggled. which made him laugh cause i was dressed as chaplin and he loved the outfit. i also told him that the doctor who movie was not rubbish (we used other words, but not in posts!which was hillarious cause he yelled out "your right! it wasnt *such and such* and high fived me lmao) then i got another hug and kiss and walked away so happy and dreamy i walked into another cosplayer and nearly knocked them over. >.>

nearly all of the little accidents i had last year, because i am VERY clumsy, were made twice as funny because of the costume. at one moment i accidentally hooked my YALC and my own bag straps on to a row of chairs (how i dont know) and walked away not noticing, taking down the row of chairs with me. a couple across from me burst out laughing and thought i did it because of my costume and i was trying to make people laugh. so i just smiled, mortified but happy i could make people laugh and smile and helped pick the chairs up and walked off heh

Oh my god what an amazing story! I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to get a photo with him but we were so rushed that day with so many people to see and trying to get back to Brighton. My boyfriend lamented that he didn't get me to take his Withnail and I dvd to sign. I did give him a pair of Tardis cufflinks I'd made and thanked him for being 'my Doctor' and told him the movie got me into Dr Who but other than that I think I was babbling like a moron and shaking all over. I wish I'd gotten a kiss! Also your costume sounds fab! What will you be going as this year?

Chappers has to come back, naturally. The costume seems to make people really happy. every time colin baker has spotted me he gives me a big smile and says "hello CC!" i also leave the convention feeling so happy after wearing it so why not. my second costume will be undertaker from black butler.

That is incredible, I love it! I'm never brave enough to cosplay. I think when I'm done losing weight (2 stone so far, 2 to go!) then I'll be brave and come up with something. Maybe Wednesday Addams.

wow! well done thats amazing. if thats you in the picture then i think you look beautiful, not overweight. i myself am exactly 13st but still cosplay. i just pick cosplays that will suit my body type. Going into the cosplay scene for the first time is scary yes, cause your worried people will judge you over it but once you do it, its addictive and so much fun. did it the first time when i was 18 and cosplayed zero from vampire knight, it was awesome.

Thank you twice! YOU'RE MY NEW BEST FRIEND! I'm a little over average height so it's well distributed but I do need to lose some more if only for the sake of my health.

I LOVE VAMPIRE KNIGHT! I don't really know anyone who cosplays it. I only saw the first series though so I should probably go back and finish it. My favourite is Card Captor Sakura but all her outfits are so short and frilly so I'd feel silly in them. Amu from Shugo Chara would be good. Mostly it's a slightly gothic school uniform. If I've lost enough to build my confidence by July I might see what I can throw together.

  6. I remember hanging out in the hotel rooms and getting ready for the parties with people, and chatting over breakfast and all that sort of thing. And Rachelle on the bucking bronco ride at one of the ET events was fab! Maybe bundling a few genres together like with Hallowhedon would work. A superhero weekend or a sci fi weekend or something. I'm not sure why I'm so desperate to spend my money on a weekend con but damnit, it's fun!

If you do want an autograph or photo sometimes it does pay to buy them ahead of time so that you're not too far back in the queue, so you can plan your day, and so that you don't impulse buy on the day.

You cannot pre buy autographs I'm afraid. The only way you can is if you have a diamond ticket which includes them.

Okay new plan - pre-pay for any photo opportunities, plan which autos you want and buy them when you get in. Now pretend my previous comment didn't happen...
No need to worry, as Hannah Montana once said: "Everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days" .

Seriously, who are you and what have you done with natedammit?!

  10. Okay so it's less of a who or a show, but how about bringing back some of the weekend conventions for things other than Sherlock? I remember Eternal Twilight which was great fun and seemed to go without a hitch, there were parties, people were well behaved, and I'm sure the hotel got some great publicity out of it. Any chance of this happening with someone like Harry Potter, Shadowhunters, DC tv series, Marvel/Netflix team ups, etv.? I love LFCC but it's a lot to do if you're only there for a day, and having a weekend event would be really fun.

  11. In the spirit of DC guests, I thought it'd be cool to see Matt Ryan. I actually really liked the Constantine TV show and would love to see the demon hunter in a line up beside Hellboy.

  12. I think the only thing that annoyed me about the whole day (and there was a lot going on and it was all pretty fantastic so this is minor) was the cost of the food. I know it's the Hilton but £6 for some curry? £5 for a burger? £5 for a beer? It was cheaper (although rather more painful) to just not eat all day until I left the venue. Perhaps looking into the prices of food for people who are on a slightly stricter budget within the venue might be an idea next year? Other than that, it was a great day.

This is my list of places I want to go but don't have the income for because living in Brighton is not the cheapest thing ever.

I can vouch for Burger brother and China garden :)

Maybe I can (not so subtly) hint to my other half that we're due a meal out soon.

(Also if anyone sees me at the show feel free to say hello. I'll be the chubby one in a Toothless hoodie wanting to buy all of the things.)

  14.

Have you tried Murasaki? It's a bit of a trek and it costs more but (sorry Pom Poko) their takoyaki is much better. It's not drowned in sauce like the ones you get at Pom Poko. I might maybe sneak into Pom Poko on Friday at lunch because it's pay day this week. Could go for some ebi fried!

I haven't, actually, but since I live near Hove station, it's not out of my way at all. I'll have to pay it a visit. Thanks.

No worries. And they do this thing in London in November called the Hyper Japan Christmas Market. It might be a little late to get tickets this time around but I mostly go for the street food stalls, anyway.

Do you know about E-Kagen? It's 5 Fenchurch Walk, just down from Brighton station. http://ekagen.mitsu-hide.com/shop.html

    They sell these http://www.senjukitaya.com/

And beer, mochi, found curry pan there once...

  15.

Where is Anne Elliot breaking her heart for her lost love Captain Wentworth in Persuasion?

Who could forget the mysteries of Northanger Abbey?

Who will fight for the freedoms of the poor girl locked in Mansfield Park?

Where is our Mr. John Thornton of North and South?

Who is truly to blame for the brutal murder of Captain Denny in Death Comes to Pemberly?

Weren't me. I have a note excusing me on those days...

    :)

Nice to see a new type of suggestion, you win 136 brand new Internet Points!

YES! I'm going to add those to the two I have already. Just three million more and I get a meme!
