  1. Go to the TFL Journey Planner page, fill in your start point as Victoria (or wherever) and destination as Olympia, and date and time of travel, and down towards the bottom right untick the modes you don't want to consider (I'd suggest maybe unticking everything except Tube). That will give you a route taking into account any engineering works etc.
  2. According to The Trainline you've really only got one train down there in time on the Sunday morning - the 06:13 from Derby gets into St Pancras at 9:13 (the next one leaves Derby at 7:16 and gets into the same London terminus at 10:18) It's then over to Transport for London's Journey Planner which suggests the following: Walk to King's Cross St.Pancras (4 mins) 09:36 Take the Piccadilly Line towards Rayners Lane Underground Station or Piccadilly Line towards Heathrow Terminal 5 or Piccadilly Line towards Heathrow Terminal 4 Underground Station or Piccadilly Line towards Uxbridge Underground Station arrive at Earl's Court station at 9:55 Transfer to District Line platform (make sure you get the platform for Olympia) 10:00 Take the District Line towards Kensington (Olympia) Underground Station arrive at Olympia Underground station at 10:03 Once you get there it should be difficult to miss. The suggestion is that if you miss the 10:00 District Line at Earl's Court, the next is 10:20, getting you to Olympia at 10:23.
  3. The actual wording was"Join this forum and win amazing Star Trek prizes." "...all you need to do is join the forum to get the updates on when we are running the next competition." Doesn't suggest that the prizes will necessarily be exclusive to the forum. Does suggest that signing up to the forum will alert you to new competitions.
  4. Check the calendar; I think you'll find the phrase is "they're all out of the office at a show"
  5. Really? Let's face it, it wouldn't be a cheap shoot, and this late in the day, with people having spent money on other options already, however iconic the shot may be, a lot of people would be priced out of availability. That's just the way of the world. There are plenty of "you can't please everyone" situations already. Why not have another? Otherwise the logical conclusion is that since there is insufficient time, and no sort of subsidy, to allow everyone to get everything that they want at a price they can afford, then don't bother having the event in the first place.I would have sympathy though with those who had bought photoshoots with some or all individual captains because there was no group one, and now could not afford both.
  6. I'll have to cut you a little slack there there. Whilst from a customer's point of view I haven't been impressed with the communication, I do have some sympathy from an organisational viewpoint. Some of the best projects I've worked on have involved multiple organisations, but some of those have also been the most frustrating - the aggro of trying to get people to agree a way forward (and sometimes just the aggro of just trying to get those people together to agree) has more than once sent me to my local tavern to drown my frustration at the glacial pace of progress and the fetters of multi-party protocols... "Oh why can't we just get on and bloody do it?!" I have wailed more than once after such a "therapy session" Good luck!
  7. Yup, my bad, missed that bit. I guess since 6 x 9 is virtually A5 size, then a 2-pocket A4 size will be popular. That said, googling "6 x 9 polyester photo pockets" did throw up some other possibles such as this one, this one, and this one. Also seem to be some right down the bottom of this page.
  8. We've not had confirmation on this, sorry. We have asked. I know that the mods have chased this in the past, and I'm sure that if there had been a reply we would have been told, but I have left this a number of weeks now with no update. Since it's now over nineteen weeks since the mods first asked, please could you chase this again (feel free to tell me you've already chased it in the last week or two )
  9. You could try here (see towards the bottom of the page).
  10. You know Whoopi doesn't fly at all I take it? She does. She doesn't like it though. I've seen an interview with her discussing it when she flew to London a few times with regards to the Sister Act Musical tour. So, here is hoping Last thing I saw was The Captains Summit, hosted by her, with Shatner, Nimoy, Stewart & Frakes chatting about cons etc. and her words were "I don't fly"....I know the Sister Act thing was a big thing for her but then she had a lot invested in it (my mum was a big Whoopi fan before she died) that's why I'm not gonna get my hopes up as it would be a near miracle! LolThere are other ways to cross the Atlantic apart from flying. There's a 7 day cruise from New York to Southampton on the Queen Mary 2 in early October...
  11. Wasn't talking about using the main public thoroughfare; this was perfectly possible in the hall/section that we were in.
  12. I suspect it's an artefact of the recession. Work is hard to find all round, including for actors. Given acting jobs can be few and far between, I suspect actors are less keen to commit if there's a chance they might get a role that coincides with the show.Doesn't make it any easier for anybody, but I can understand it.
  13. Never been to the Excel before so couldn't really compare. But the bigger the area you use the harder it becomes and more pricey too. I just can't believe people thought everyone was gonna fit into a designated area for this. The last time I went there it was perfectly possible to get above the crowds on effectively a balcony where you could address the whole hall and be seen by everybody for a 10 minute or so opening ceremony. For example, look at the Grand Hall at Olympia where LFCC was - you could easily have thrown up a PA and used the balcony to address the crowds and been seen by virtually all the attendees. You do a 10 minute or 15 minute O/C up on a public balcony type space, wheel out the 5 captains, everyone can see them and take a quick pic, welcome everybody, rahrahrah it up about all the things to do, declare the event open, and then all those with tickets move into whatever space is actually designated for th 5 captains talk to start 15 or 30 minutes later. Everybody gets to see the 5 captains, and the organisers still get to have a paid ensemble talk.
  14. I think he's also done some VIP receptions after Rock Bottom Remainders gigs; I imagine you could have got the odd thing signed there.
  15. Or somewhere closer to home: for the 2012 Summer Olympics, ExCeL was divided into five sports halls with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 10,000. All with huge voids in the middle for the spoorting arena. Reconfigured with a stage at one end, you could probably fit in considerably more...
  16. I am no fan of the organisation of or communication about this event, but credit where it's due - the mods at least have been very diligent whenever questions have been asked to say things along the lines of "at other SM shows this happens... but please bear in mind that this is not purely an SM event and there is no guarantee it will be done this way at DSTL". Like I say, on the whole I think that the disclosure of information generally has been poor, but they have been at pains to stop people assuming that it will just like any other SM event.I appreciate that your impression may be different to mine.
  17. So are shopping centres and amusement parks but nobody suggests excluding children from them.
  18. All right, 56 x 1.5 is still 84, which would give a total attendance (with those already announced) of over 90.
  19. Hmmm 8 weeks is 56 days, so you want another 100+ guests? Blimey!

    Bitten 4

I think if you read this post, it's very unlikely there will be a Bitten 4.

    Is that not covered here?
  22. I'm no great fan of kids but as long as they're reasonably well-behaved I have no objections - it's the parents who abdicate all responsibility and let their kids (who often don't know better) run wild who are the real problem. And I'm happy with kids in talks if parents are prepared to take them out if they become noisy and affect other people. And I also appreciate that some times you can't leave your kids with somebody for the weekend, for any number of reasons (including sometimes the intended 'sitter going down sick). It's all about consideration and being sensible - some stroller/pushchair "pilots" are fine, and others are rather less so - but the same can be said about some of the people walking around without them too. If everybody applies their mind a little and tries to behave considerately, it shouldn't be a problem. (If you're going to ban folk, I'd rather it was the stinky soap-dodgers who got the red card )
  23. Unless it was a request for the "stunt queen" who did the parachute jump
  24. It's under consideration - I presume that the lack of updates in the last five weeks mean that there have been no further developments, but no doubt the mods have chased it again.
