  1. Definitely! Roy Skelton is a legend (not just in Doctor Who terms) and Jasmine Breaks is such a rare guest, meeting them would be a dream come true. In addition to Rico Ross, they would be 2 more guests from the 1988 season of the show, which is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year. What better time to invite them (and others from Season 25). I REALLY hope they haven't been forgotten about because they are smaller-scale guests.
  2. I was lucky enough to see Dean Haglund & Gary Jones (from Stagate) doing an improv. show a couple of years ago in Birmingham. It was fantastic. Haglund played Spock and Jones was Kirk from Star Trek. Robin Curtis from Star Trek 3 & 4 and Garrett Wang from Voyager were sitting next to me in the audience and they were doubled over with laughter all throughout. If you like the spontaneous comedy of "Whose Line Is It Anyway," you will love this.
  3. I will be meeting him for his role on Doctor Who. The opening to The Greatest Show in the Galaxy has to be one of the most unusual and attention grabbing you could get, and all thanks to Rico Ross. Now if you could invite Ian Reddington too, it would be a dream come true.
  4. Yeah, I had read that on here before. I suppose though, it has to be done in order to get my cast photo signed. Also, you live in hope that it is going to be different next time... I had read all the "Shatner vs Fans" stuff over the years, but was willing to give him a chance and form my own opinion once I'd met him. Sadly, my experience was the same sort of experience everyone seems to have had at the Milton Keynes signing. Anyway, live in hope that Nimoy had an off-day and will be pleasant (though rushed) next time. With the new movie coming out next year, maybe he should be invited over before then? Who knows how in-demand he will be next year.
  5. I've wanted to meet Leonard Nimoy for so long now. Without wanting to sound disrespectful, the original Trek cast are not getting any younger. It would be nice to have him over in the UK while he is still willing / able to come.
  6. But...this talk of Fox's plans for the next ten years is pure assumption. There was never any statements or comments indicating a long-term plan for re-launching the X-Files on the public. For all we know it COULD have just been made because Fox thought there would be a large fanbase still around (and obviously make money), and if there was, go ahead with more films. Anyway, I would recommend any fans of the TV show go see it. Give it a go - I thought it was really good. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
  7. T.P. McKenna as my main choice. Pamela Salem Stuart Fell Isla Blair & Julian Glover David Collings Aubrey Woods Peter Miles
  8. I disagree completely about it not being viable. The new X-Files movie is not primarily aimed at new viewers. It's an extended episode which was to a large extent was for the X-Files fans. It rekindled the interest that people had in the show and made people remember how much they liked the show. If they don't like the movie, it doesn't matter. That's like saying people wont be interested in meeting X-Files guests because the last few seasons were not universally popular. It's like any other show - the true fans will love to meet the main actors from it (ie. people from more than a couple of episodes). The die-hard fans will want to meet anyone from the series. I think to suggest X-Files guests will not be that popular is pointless - they have arranged "reunions" for things like Diff'rent Strokes, so why not for something that was a worldwide hit? I think the problem here is people are focusing too much on the "reunion" aspect. Like getting Mulder, Scully, Doggett, Reyes, Cancer Man, Skinner together. Most fans just want to see a selection of actors from the show. Not a reunion of the main stars, but a reunion of anyone who is possible to get. Brad Dourif was hugely popular at LFCC and I'm sure Adam Baldwin will be a success at C14.
  9. There are 15 guests in total (so far). I think it extremely unlikely that all 15 will have individual photo sessions. I could be wrong, and that's why I would love to hear from Showmasters regarding this.
  10. The transport prices were stopping me from going to this, but this is such a unique oppurtunity, I will have to find a way to go. Could we get more info on who will be doing photo sessions asap please, as I don't want to get a Gareth Thomas photo at Glasgow if I will be going to this.
  11. I've always wanted to meet guests from The X-Files, and now would be the perfect time. The new movie might not be to everyone's taste (just as later seasons of the series itself), but it at least raises public awareness of the show, and brings the nostalgia out in the fans. I genuinely believe that any of the key players from The X-Files would be very popular at C14. Either because of who they played in the show (eg Mulder, Scully, Cancer Man) or their other popular roles (William Davis & Mitch Pillegi in Stargate, Robert Patrick in The Unit & Terminator etc).
  12. "Only people who dont know much about Transformers before it was a film would think that - the comics, cartoons and toys (of which are the best selling ever) are still going strong 20+ years later. It was massive before the film." I've been a fan of Transformers since the 1980s, that's why I said "I assume (sadly) it would focus on the film." The fact that they are only suggesting it now instead of inviting Transformers guests years ago seems to indicate they are seeing the movie as something very popular just now. I personally would prefer a Transformers con focusing more on the cartoons and comics. "I think it's a given that the books will be a large part of it seeing as there's four of them. SM are just trying to see if there's a demand for it anwyay, they havent said they'd go with it. Its just market research." The reason I said "somehow concentrate on the books" was because in terms of the books, all they can really get for a convention is an author. There is no-one else involved they could really get in terms of books. Also, I understand that it's market research, I just thought it strange that they would commit to it (if it got more votes than any other) before any film release, when the film could be a total failure.
  13. David Soul was at a Collectormania JUST before I started going to them. I would love him to come back to Milton Keynes as his work in Starsky & Hutch and Salem's Lot was great. I've been patiently waiting, hoping he would be invited back soon, but nothing so far. Please ask him back, for C14 perhaps? And if you could persuade Paul Michael Glaser, it would be the icing on the cake!
  14. I was just wondering what each person's personal favourite and least favourite Collectormania was, and why? Was there something that made it great that could become standard practice? A perticular guest more "fan-friendly" than others? Any things that made a bad Collectormania that could be avoided in future? (I'm including Collectormania MK, Glasgow, Manchester & LFCC in this question) My favourite was probably either C6 (my first Collectormania, great fun) or C7, as it had almost every Doctor Who guest I really wanted to meet, and loads of non-Who guests as well. A fantastic line-up! More like that would be very much appreciated! Least favourite was the last Manchester event (Gmex-4). The line-up was quite small and consisted of only 5 or 6 people I really wanted to meet and all the others were repeat guests I had met already. In the lead-up to the actual event, all the people I wanted to meet cancelled (apart from Alice Krige, she cancelled on the day!). In the end, I couldn't cancel the train tickets so ended up spending money on trains and hotel for just 1 minor guest.
  15. How odd that they are giving it as an option to vote on. A pre-emptive strike. I'm assuming the convention would focus on the films, as I'm assuming (sadly) that the Transformers con would also focus on the film primarily. I wonder what would happen if the film came out and was rubbish compared to the books and no-one liked it? Odd to commit to something that's not even been released yet, unless of course the con somehow concentrates on the books too. I thought it was The Twilight Zone when I first read it, and was ready to vote for it straight away (imagine - Jack Klugman, Bill Mummy, Shatner etc) until I realised it was something altogether different.
  16. I've never heard of Twilight either... In addition to 80's cartoons - which would be fantastic, meeting all those famous voice-actors - maybe a general 80's TV con? That could include actors from shows like A-Team, Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Automan, Manimal, Chips, Fall Guy etc. People who on their own at a Collectormania may not attract huge crowds, but in an 80's convention would be known by every attendee.
  17. I too would like to know about this. This would be the deciding factor in me going or not. So far it is too much money for me to go to this convention and it's likely I won't go, but if we could be told exact details of photo shoots (including whether a group photo will be done), I will make the effort to come.
  18. I agree that genre events (eg. Horror Con) are a better idea than simply joining 2 or more shows together. If you are only interested in one of the two shows it makes it not that appealing (especially if there are a couple of last minute guest cancellations and both are from the show you like). If you do a genre convention covering several films, chances are there will be something for everyone to enjoy. I am not too interested in Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm St guests, but if they managed to get hold of some directors or actors from the Japanese-Horror boom (please - Hideo Nakato, Takashi Shimizu, Takako Fuji), I would definitely come to a horror con.
