Agreed! Something extra for Gold and Silver ticket holders would be good! Whilst I understand that guests do cancel, I am a bit upset that I have now wasted money on a silver ticket! Have every faith in ME to sort this out though :)

Awwwwwwww poor you This has happened to friends before, and I can understand the embarassment. As others have said, I tend to just watch what people in front of me do, if others get hugs then I ask for one, if they don't then I don't! Most guests don't seem to mind, but yeah you do get the odd few that really don't want to!

Yep EVERYONE will be refunded! Has anyone e-mailed SM yet?! If so can you let us know what they said? Seems silly us all e-mailing them! Ta! I REALLY hope it's soon, they said early January and it's now half way through the month! I've been working on the fact we'd be getting it early in the month and if it doesn't appear in the next week I'm going to end up in minus figures and will be charged by the bank!

Any idea when this will start being processed? I am relying on having the money this month! Thanks

LOVING Olympia 2 as a venue, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE can we keep this as a venue, it was SO SO good! Really well laid out with tons of room to move, it made the day a lot more relaxing! Very convenient having a Tesco Metro opposite too! Really fun and relaxed day, guests weren't too busy at all, I strolled in at about 11:30 am and could have met anyone I wanted to (I decided not to meet anyone today ... saving pennies!), everyone had an Open Q by the end of the day, even the more popular guests. Not sure how busy it'll be tomorrow for Barrowman, but if you're going to meet anyone else I'd advise you don't bother getting there at crack of dawn, there really isn't any need and you'll just get cold!

I think using words such as "Big Guest" is a little dangerous as everyone has different ideas about what a big guest it. Someone I might find amazing, someone else might not even know who they are!

I'm in agreement with you here actually. The youngest person in our group was 22 and the way we were spoken to on more than one occasion was a bit disrespectful and made us feel like kids. Most were so absolutely lovely, but there was one or two that seemed to be on a bit of a power trip. We weren't able to stay Sunday to pick our pictures from the photoshoots up. We asked one or two of the crew and they did politely say they weren't sure and sent us to people that might know. We asked at the main reception and a blonde woman there was horrible to us. ''Why would you buy photoshoots if you can't stay to collect the photos?'' We explained we were told that we could pay to have them sent (which we have done) but I thought that was just rude. I think I know the lady you mean, she's always on front main reception and I've seen her be so horrible to attendees - she made a 12 year old boy cry at a con I went to once cos he'd lost something - making children cry isn't big or clever She is the only one though, the rest of the crew are SO lovely! So best to just always avoid her and ask someone else, that's what I do!

I hope we don't get the same guests as Prom! It's boring having the same people again and again! We need fresh blood!

I can't imagine it's going to be drastically different to when this thread was posted, given as there hasn't been much change in advertising (other than the sterling efforts of those posting on LJs/Forums). I would think the next big 'bump' in sales will be after Collectormania London, where hopefully there will be a big display and people will but them as Christmas Presents! True! Wishful thinking I guess! I'll be SO upset if this gets cancelled!

It'd be nice to have an update from ME as to how the ticket sales are now doing?

I get the general impression that people aren't buying tickets cos they're waiting for an Aiden announcement - it's going to be a nightmare if it never happens cos I guess that means people wont buy a ticket even though it has such an amazing lineup?!

Rob came to Collectormania years ago so he has done them in the past - I dont think he likes all the squealing girlies though so I don't think he'd put himself in the situation of getting pawed at.

I don't think any of us are trying to be grumpy about the amount of events - we're just pointing out the reasons why it might not be selling too well at the moment and saying that maybe it just needs a bit of patience? As SM are asking us to support them, I think it's only fair that we explain our reasons for not booking things up as fast as we'd like to. It's not that we don't care, it's not that we don't love the shows, it's not that we don't appreciate SM .. it's just that we're all only human and only have so much money to spend a month! I'm fully supportive of this event, I've already booked my ticket and I've been going to SM events for years now - I think they're great organisers and do great cons! It's just that unfortunately money doesn't grown on trees and it's hard to keep up nowadays with the amount of cons that are on! I am sure we'll all do our best to get the word out as we all want this event to run! Also - just to say! The reason I love SM more than other event organisers is cos they do listen to fans and they do allow us to debate and contribute in threads like this without getting angry at us and just shutting them down etc! I feel this thread is constructive and is only our way of communicating to SM our thoughts on a topic that they started. I'm sure they realise it's just our way of trying to explain, rather than any of us moaning for the sake of moaning! I LOVE SM!

Attendees are a friendly bunch and it's a great place to meet new people. I met some of my best friends through going to events! Oh I know! The more I think about this con, the more I think I can't resist it, regardless of being alone, it's too good to miss Although the last con I decided to take the plunge and go alone to was the Abrams con and that got cancelled... DEFINITLY come alone and come along! People are lovely! And we need to sell more tickets!!!!! I'm going to be so upset if this gets cancelled, it's one of the best cons on here! No fair!

NOOOOOOOO! It'd be awful if it was cancelled! The problem may just be that people are waiting?!! The thing is you guys are running SO many great conventions now that we just can't afford to book them all up at once - we have to prioritise and as this con is quite a way off yet I guess people are just waiting until they have enough money to book! I've been looking at this con for ages and have literally only just booked a ticket! Same with the True Blood con, I'm 90% sure I'm coming but it's a long way off and I have other cons I need to book before that! Don't be too hasty!
