ARRRRRRRRRGH~~ I can't make it. I've developed an infection that has me running to the potty every 15-30 minutes, and there's no way I could stay on my feet more than a few meters from the door of a ladies room for hours at a time, as happens at these cons. My doctor called a prescription in to my pharmacy for it, but it'll take at least a few days to get over the rushing to the potty part, and by that time the con will be over. Why is it something comes up EVERY time I tell anyone that I'm going? I feel like I've got gremlins watching me!

I've got the time off work and have had a hotel reservation since Day 1 (on the principal that a hotel can always be cancelled if I couldn't go), so it's likely I'll be able to make it. The only possible hold up is money, but there's something in the works (I have some holiday pay due for Christmas and New Years Day). I'll be driving down from Tallahassee, Florida, about 200 miles north of Orlando. By the time I stop for something to eat and stretch my legs, it should be about a 5-hour trip. We should all meet up somewhere so the US contengent can meet the UK contengent

The launch of a Delta 2 rocket with a Global Positioning System package to put into orbit is scheduled for January 26, according to NASA's web site . The time for the launch hasn't yet been set. Here's the Kennedy Space Center's information on the launch: Delta 2/KSC Even if you can't make it to the Space Center on that day, if you've arrived in Orlando by launch time you can see it from there with clear weather. For space freaks like me, any launch is a memorable event . A Delta ain't a shuttle, but it's still worth seeing if you're in the area by then .
