  1.

I feel that this kind of disgusted attitude is ridiculous and an over-reaction, as this sort of April fools joke is no worse than the likes of the Lou and Andy sketches on Little Britain or having dead actors being brought back from the dead by cgi for the sake of advertising (think of the Ford Puma ads staring Steve McQueen... who's to say that Steve wouldn't have hated the car and wanted nothing to do with it).

Actually that's true. If people on here feel that jokingly suggesting that deceased stars are attending the show is disrespectful, the thought of manipulating their images purely for profit must send them into conniptions. Lets hope they don't own any Elvis merchandise or similar as that would make them just as bad. Also what about all those people who own auto's from celebs who have then died, shouldn't they all honor the star by ripping the auto up, how dare they think of selling them on!

Death is a part of life, we celebrate life so perhaps we should also celebrate death. Remember those who have passed fondly and let others respect them in their own way.

  2. Vegas has always been the best for me and I still love it. 2nd best was Miami followed by NY. If repeats were on TV I'd watch the Vegas and Miami ones but not NY. Now it's swapped over for me, still love Vegas best but i'll watch NY repeats but not Miami - I think I just got too fed up with Horatio Cains posing and holier than thou attitude. No offence to Cain fans intended! ;)

  3. I don't know if it would work but how about if those giving out the VQ tickets also had a few disabled tickets, differently coloured to distinguish them from the usual tickets. If someone comes up and asks for a ticket for a disabled friend who cannot come up and queue, they can have one of them. Then when it is time for them to join the back of the queue, it should be obvious or not if they are truly disabled. If they aren't, kick them out of the queue and take the ticket back.

I know not all disabilities are really visable but most have some form of physical 'tell'. My dad was classed last year after suffering a brain hemmorage and is now a bit wobbly on his feet and veers off course a bit which makes it hard in crowds so I know how difficult it is for some.

  4. It is very annoying when there are multiple threads all on the same subject though Gondor, people should post in existing ones instead of creating new ones. We have had people in the past do this incessantly and it does just annoy people. Having multiple threads on the same subject doesn't make it more important.

  5. i want thiss guest elijah wood and vigoo mortensen!!!!!!!!the bestttt

Want doesn't me your going to get.

and it's Elijah Wood and Viggo

I'm pretty sure if you like them so much you should know how to spell their names.

Yeah yeah it's getting on people's nerves now. So stop!

Lol, I must admit although I know what the OP meant, when I saw 'vigoo' I thought to myself that it sounded like a new curry.

  6. The reason is that English shops aren't used to seeing Scottish or Irish currency so they find that they are at risk from crooks using forged notes because they can't spot them. (At least that was what I was told by my manager when I worked at a convenience store one summer.)

'Tis true i'm afraid. My local Co-op has a big sign behind the tills at the moment instructing staff not to accept scottish notes as there are loads of fakes in circulation.

  7. It's not an easy thing to answer really. If you think about the statistics, if a guest sees 500 people a day and every 10th person gift, that's a lot of stuff and the fact is that they simply can't transport all of them home. It has been said before that a lot of stuff does get dumped, but if you want to give them something go ahead, try and keep it personal or original. If the guest keeps being given the same thing from lots of people they aren't likely to keep any of them.

  8. This is his 2nd CM, right? So all those that met him last time won't feel a need to see him again will they?

Not necessarily! There are people who will meet the same guest time and time again - just ask any of the Michael Shanks, Corin Nemek and Elijah Wood fans!

I myself sometimes want to meet the same guest again - It can be for different reasons. As mentioned sometimes guests don't personalise due to time constraints so sometimes I try and see a guest again at another event to see if personalisations are possible there, if the guest isn't as busy. Othertimes it could be because I have more things to get signed.

A very popular guest's second appearance can be just as busy as the first.

  9. I don't think there were any signs up anywhere saying no photo's. When I queued up for Rudolph Martin the crew were verbally telling everyone. You could take photo's from the corridor but not whilst you where at the table and not ask the guest to have one taken with you. I think it does suck though, what if the guest isn't doing a photo shoot? It does seem it's just a way for them to make more money. Oh well...

  10. I can see both sides of the arguement. All of my auto's have been bought for my private collection and I have no intention of selling them. I agree that anyone who buys auto's from Ebay might as well flush their money down the loo seeing as there are so many fakes and yes I always laugh when I see someone offering a COA. However there are reputable sellers there but that's another discussion.

Sometimes COA's are worthwhile but only if you know the person/company selling them is genuine. I have bought a couple of autos before as it was for an actor who doesn't do cons/events and only sells his auto through a couple of companies. Mine where from one of these and I know they are associated/liscenced by MGM to do this, and each came with a hologramed, numbered COA. It just adds reassurance really.

Where COA's make a difference though is props and costumes. Again I have a couple of set used costumes from Stargate, sold through a company liscenced by MGM to do so and each came with a hologramed, numbered COA onMGM letterhead. OK so their is always the risk that it's fake, if you're not there to actually see it signed, but it's as near to real as you're going to get. With those kind of items I think you need a COA. Again I have no intention of selling them, but in the future, if I have them valued or do have to sell them I've got the proof that they are real - a provenance, which really is needed when selling on these kind of items.

  11. Yeah that's wat I thought. I called the shop to see if I could put one on order. I have but it's not guarunteed as they said it depends on where you are on the list and how much time he has to do them. It's not the same as getting to meet him obviously but better than nothing. I hope I do get one.

They also have James Herbert there in October. I might try and see him.

  12.

Looks like I was very lucky when Anne McCaffery came to Peterborough then - I know she's not an actor but she was signing her books and as I purchased one of them she also signed another for me that I took along.

    Anne

Am I jelous or what! I love Anne McCaffrey books and would love to have met her.

  13.

i wanted david to sign a pannel off my trans am kitt replica which has cost me a lot of time and money , but he wouldnt do that

ive lost a lot of faith in him now, like you other guys said childhood hero RIP

But would that be because he was there to sign the books? Did anyone else get something they had bought with them signed. I know that might sound silly but it was a book signing and I think they can say no to personal items. After all they are there wo make loads of cash selling their books!
