I kind of feel like that myself, that I was unbelievably lucky really but feel really bad as well that I got to see it when others haven't. There is a lady in one of the departments in our building who is a big Ben fan as well and I was telling her about Letters today and how much I had enjoyed it. She rushed back to her computer and managed to get one of the few remaining Thursday tickets before all this happened and i haven't had a chance to speak to her since then........ Hopefully it either won't be as bad as it sounded or they may be able to work something out. Have you heard if you have been reallocated one of the spare tickets for the other nights? The company I work for did send most staff home around 2/3pm as the police were going round advising this for the buildings that weren't immediately by the fire. I and a couple of my colleagues stayed as we are in the Facilities/Switchboard department so my boss was the one dealing with making sure the floors were emptied and all locked up and coordinating what was happening with the senior management. I stayed with a colleague in the department to be on hand to deal with other staff who needed help or information, like our ICT staff who were trying to make sure all functions were transferred over to our oversea's offices so people were able to work from home. Fun times. But hey, they let me finish an hour early as there was no point staying. If you look at the local map infographic showing where the fire was pouring from, I work on the north side of the park, the buildings just below the first 'r' of the Underground. Freemasons Hall is the large building literally on the right of the right white edge of 'London'

I don't know how the other performances will be affected either - I work just of the road this happened on and we were operating off our emergency generator all afternoon. I don't even know if we will be able to open tomorrow, we have to go in and see but may be sent home to minimise the strain on the generator so the servers keep running and staff can log in from home. Possibly it's not going to be a quick fix so may affect the local buildings for a couple of days, we can only wait and see what the damage assessments come back with.

Hey Twiga, I'm really sorry it was cancelled tonight, my heart goes out to you and everyone else affected by this.
  9. It's only about £32 for each guest in the picture but yes, it's quite a lot.

FYI There is a big fire in Holborn so not sure how will probably affect the show tonight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-32150554 Holborn station is currently closed.
  11. I'd say chances are getting slim given how much he's doing on the Saturday now.
  12. I'd like to go and it's not expensive but not sure I can.

I did tear up over the Lockerbie letter but don't know if they will be reading the same selection each night. I don't know what door they exited via but got the feeling that it wasn't really the venue for auto's if you get what I mean. I wouldn't say don't try though if you want to. Why I say that is at the end the performers all came out to bow ect and I did see a lady go over to Ben with a bunch of flowers and a letter - It looked to me like he wouldn't take them and gestured to Louise who the lady then gave the flowers to, so to me it looked like he was basically saying this was Louise's event and it should be her gifts go to. That's my impression only though.
  14. Luckily for me tonight and tomorow I am covering the 10-7 shift at work so I'll just stay a few mins and try and get some tickets. Edit: Just seen the prices! Eeep.

Phew! Just got home and have jumped into bed! What can I say but brilliant. I was unsure what to expect on the whole, I've seen clips of previous years events and some of the released pre readings for this one but being a wholly literary event wasn't sure I'd enjoy the whole thing but was happy to give it a go even though, admittedly I was really going to see Ben performing live. It really was superb, all the performances were fantastic and I really would recommend it to everyone. The letters covered a massive range of subjects from Che Gavara writing to his children, Marge Simpson to Mrs Bush, Matt Stone to the MPAA re the Southpark film, the family of a Lockerbie victim to the family who owned the land the body was found on to Jane Austin's sister to her niece after her death. One or 2 of the letters didn't hold my attention totally but the rest were interesting, funny, sad, tearful and beyond and were a joy to hear. They were read superbly, especially Louise and Ben's reading of the Chris and Bessie letters. Performer wise of the names I can recall off the top of my head, tonight we had Matt Berry (Renholm of IT Crowd fame) and Russell Brand - I've just seen on the Letter Live twitter page that Sophie and Ben parents were there but I didn't see them (I'm useless at spotting people though!) Oh and the programmes were £5 if anyone is looking to buy one at the venue.
  16. I think it's one of the things that makes the show such a success that a lot of people don't think about. You can have the best actors but a rubbish script/product will still make a rubbish show, just one with good actors. I think everything is spot on with Sherlock, the scripts, the production, design, filming and costumes and that's what sets it appart..

Ahh, my question has just been answered by a Ticketmaster mass email. It's 6.30 for 7.30 if anyone was wondering.

Does anyone know what time entry is? I can't see anything on the website or ticket. I know it starts at 7.30 obviously but don't want to be hanging around for ages or be late.

The talks usually are recorded it's just the releasing it side that's never happend.
  20. "Emergency services were called to the Excel Center tonight in the largest case of a mass collapse ever seen. The crowd swiftly recovered when rumours of the arrival of someone identified only as The Big BC circulated. Reports are sketchy but it is thought that the possible cause may have been a sighting of the rare lesser spotted M.Freemantius, the side effects of which is well documented and can include fainting and raised blood pressure. Local hospitals were overwhelmed but the afflicted were swiftly treated and released with the application of a topical Deerstalker."
  21. The entire population of the venue drops to the floor.......
  22. As far as I can recall he was always on there as TBA. Silly me, that was Auto's. I can't remember about the photos.
  23. It's so hard to decide what to do. In your case my recommendation would be that as you have Martin on one I'd suggest finishing that. If you can go to the US Sherlocked there may be another chance for them both to complete the poster, but if not at least you'd have them both together one one. I haven't been lucky enough to get Martin yet - he had to leave straight away the night I was at Richard III, and I got Ben but not Martin at the final Hobbit premier. I'm currently leaning towards getting Ben to sign a cast picture rather than one with just him on it. I got a few auto's at the Hobbit prem on nice heavy stock white card that I am going to get framed when I can find a decent small Five Armies picture to illustrate it with, so I'll have Ben up on that. If I get him to sign a picture on it's own I won't a have room for it to go up along with a cast picture.
  24. I have the same sort of quandary. I have a Sherlock poster for signatures, so after the con, the poster would have almost everyone involved in the show EXCEPT my absolute favourite, Martin. OR I have a photo of Martin and Ben, that I got Martin to sign last year at stage door that I could get Ben to sign. But if I do that, I either have a poster with everyone but the two stars, or a whole bunch of individual pictures signed. I think we all have the same issue. I prefer cast signed posters as I intend to frame the ones I have and can put them all up. Ben has done other conventions, so it's not impossible that he might do others - you never know, Showmasters might be able to get him for LFCC or Collectormania as a Diamond guest in the future so there is always the possibility of getting a cast picture finished - the problem is though do you go on the hope you'll be able to get something finished in the future or get everything on one item now. The other problem I have is that all of the available official Sherlock pictures they are either A3 and therefore quite small for a lot of signatures ( I really don't want them to look crowded and messy with the essence of the picture ruined or the sigs having to be all squashed together) or none of the large ones take my fancy. I.f I'm going to put it up I don't want a picture that I don't really like just because it was big enough. I think I'm going to end up with 1 picture just for Ben (no issues of a small squashed signature then) and I'll buy extra auto's from the main cast and get 1 cast signed A3 (minus Ben) and get only the main lot on a 3rd. However the issue I have with that plan is that the picture I bought that has enough room on it for a cast picture only has Ben pictured on it (I couldn't find any Ben/Martin ones that had enough space) and I think it might look a bit odd without his on it Ideally I would like a A2 picture that just had the title ident on it so it's not person specific and has lots of space. I'm hoping that there may be something on one of the stands at the event that might be suitable. It's so hard to pick as I want it to be as perfect as possible! Hi Sassy, yes it is official that we will only be able to get 1 auto from Ben.
  25. Treat yourself.......go on....come over to the dark side......we have cake.
