  1. I know this doesn't help with the ones that run out but if you want an auto on an 8x10 and you know you aren't going straight into the queue ask the crew if you can have a look at the pictures available. They are usually very accommodating and happy for you to do this and if you don't like what they have you have time to look at the dealers stalls for others.
  2. Make sure it has a mount so the picture isn't touching the glass. Any decent framer will do UV protective glass but it's very expensive and quite heavy. "Your next" ?? yes lol..had to get ken to put that on it!! Graphic meant that unfortunately it's spelled incorrectly. It should be 'you're'
  3. Yes, there are a lot of first timers and people who don't read the forums so won't know about stuff like that. Additionally people will presume that the crew would have sufficient cash to deal with change ect. At the last event I was at I wanted a few auto's from each guest so had a list of each guest and what bits they were all signing - I didn't want to get it wrong in the rush. Also because it can be quite challenging managing bags whilst simultaneously carrying your items and trying to hold your cash I divided up all my money into envelopes with the guests name on with exactly the right amount of cash inside. Easy to hold and I could just hand it to the crew member. It's hard with everything they have to do as it is but maybe if the guys managing the line get a chance they could say to people as they get near to the cash desk 'please have your cash ready' ect.
  4. That could be a new con game, "Where's QS". The attendees all get a book when they come in and you get points for each mod you spot and mark off.
  5. Love that she put 'Ripley' like you might look at it in the future and for a moment wonder who she played again.....
  6. I saw you with this when you were queuing for Lea I think as I was a row over in Sylvester McCoys.
  7. I have to say you are very considerate as I don't understand that at all. They have a choice over what they wear and they should have been getting out the lift to allow a less physically able person on. If you are in a wheelchair or on crutches it's not like you have chosen to be and can us the stairs - they can if they take care.
  8. http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89696&hl=date Please have a look at this thread.
  9. Collectorbob, the footage from the talks doesn't get released unfortunately.
  10. Me too, Oblivious should be my middle name, however I did manage to notice Bill Paxton walking up the stairs when I was going down on my way out. There were very few others on the stairs and what drew even my attention was a group of people all bunched up together which I thought was strange as there was almost no one else there. It made me look and realise it was someone being escorted by security and crew and focused enough in that fleeting moment to realise it was him!
  11. Exactly, the difference is that loving Westlife, Justin Beiber, the Kardashians ect is considered mainstream and acceptable though, and this is considered as 'sad' by many. All I know is I would rather spend my money on this, have a heck of a good weekend, met and talk to nice, like minded people. Thanks to SM in particular I've managed to meet some of my favorite actors and my most prized possessions are my signed posters, a couple of which I have framed and have in pride of place.
  12. I don't think they need to get rid of the gold pass but maybe sell whole lot less. That way the gold holders will still feel special and be able to take advantage of the benefits - very good for those who want to see loads of guests and do loads of shoots, but then the general entry holders still stand a decent chance.
  13. Maybe they need to go back to the set up when they had they had the early bird tickets. Still stick to pre purchase entry tickets only but start letting people in at 8/8.30. That way lots of people can get in with plenty of time to start getting their VQ tickets and getting to their first photo shoots. There may be a reason why they didn't do that this time but I think it'd make things a bit calmer. Re Gold tickets maybe send them out in the post to the registered address of the card holder only but require ID checks in the queue to match purchase records - make it easy in the ordering that if it's a gift the attendee's name must be on the order. then crew can match up ID's to records in the queue before opening and hopefully that would make things easier. You might have to have an order cut off though.
  14. Don't let it upset anyone - there will always be articles like this after each event and nothing can be done about it. It's pointless emailing them about it as they aren't going to care. Forget it and just remember the positive points from all of your weekends. Journo's like that write lazy pieces as it's a little puff article where they can slag off and point at the 'nerds' who are so gullible and dweebish they pay that money for signatures! Saddo's. It's really not worth responding to at all.
  15. So now you'll be 500th in the queue next time because everyone will arrive the night before and you'll see what people mean. We can't all be in the first 100 however early you try to get there you know.
  16. £40 was the fee for the weekend entry ticket, individual days were £18 each.
  17. But at the same time coming to the con and enjoying the press benefits themselves probably.
  18. I've been lucky enough to meet him at a couple of other events as well and he's always struck me as a genuinely nice chap. He's lovely to meet and I love his talks as he's so passionate about the things he believes in it's interesting to hear him talk about them. I'm glad I got to meet him here and thanks SM for getting him over.
  19. It's just sensationalising it for the sake of it. We had exactly the same thing after Sherlock, the journalist just want to say 'oh look at the horrible rich celebs and how they treat their fans'. They don't care to give a balanced accurate article because it's not sensational enough. Look at the fact that the writer couldn't be bothered to say entry was £18 but focused on the weekend package because it looks more 'shocking' to give the higher priced ticket but without bothering to mention what that fee actually includes.
  20. people did queue early, hundreds of them but its makes no difference doing it. Getting low VT numbers has become rather pointless if the bigger stars have no time in their schedules because of talks, multiple photoshoots and getting through diamond passes.SM should just say from the start no point queueing early or trying to get low VT numbers because most of the time its a bit futile. It took Neve Campbell 30 minutes just to get through the ridiculas crowds to get back to her desk and Christopher Lloyd even longer. Too many people in the venue, too many many tickets sold and too many expecting to get an autograph when in all honesty they hadn't got a chance.Showmasters should just announce before the show the bigger guests will only sign for the diamond passes, maybe some gold but not give people false hope. Well, I don't feel they did give anyone false hope as they said and it was VERY clear from the get go that the Diamond guests were only guaranteed for the Diamond pass holders. It was easy to see from what was included in each package, and the different general sale shoots that the diamond guests wouldn't have long to sign and that therefore were very unlikely to get to or through many VQ tickets. SM have gone the route in the last couple of years of concentrating on photo shoots for the bigger guests because you can generally get more people through those than auto's which means more people get to meet the person in question. However it seems that it's getting harder and harder for many people at all to get autos from many guests at all now if you are only there for the day. Even some of the Gold pass holders are saying that it wasn't much benefit so it might be better to limit those numbers as well, otherwise anyone with general entry might end up having little to no chance at all.
  21. I presumed that you still had to queue as normal with a weekend band, it doesn't give you any priority over day tickets. I thought you queued as normal and just showed your band on entry.
  22. Yes but you will eventually end up with the situation that you need to camp out overnight to even get a chance because people will arrive earlier and earlier.
