    Thanks for the replies

do you think I would be able to sit on the wood bench and he have the photo done instead of me?

There is no seating in the photo booth, I assume what Steve is talking about is the central u shaped desk set up for bags and the printer, so an adult definitely can't sit on it.  If you want your son to have the photo instead of you, technically he can't as it's a DP and they can't be transferred, but honestly, I don't see them refusing in cases like this, it's obvious your child won't be buying their own ticket.  When you get into the booth, speak to the crew and say the shoot is for your boy, they should be OK with that - just saying to advise them as he won't be as quick as an adult going through and will need a bit more time

Long time attendee, first time DP holder looking for some maybe obvious advice…

If I don’t want any VQ tickets, is there any benefit to me showing up super early? I have DPs for Matt and David. Can I just rock up in the afternoon and (assuming they’ve got to my batch in the DPs) just join a reasonably short queue to get their autos?

I have no photo Ops in the morning, so while I’m usually there at 9am for early photos, it looks like this time I might be able to get lie ins! I’m just not clear if as a DP holder I need to do anything special..?

You can arrive later if you prefer, if they have called your batch already you can just join the back of the queue.  If they have reached VQ's, identify yourself to the crew and they usually try and slot you as far forward as possible, though you may need to join the end of the queue as DP's only have priority whilst they are calling DP's.

They have changed the DP auto allotment now though so whilst you still get the one included, you can no longer get extra's at the same time, if you want more than one, you need to get a VQ and wait until that VQ is called.

So if you only want the one included auto for each guest, then you can turn up a bit later, though make sure you factor in when they are in photo's/talks and don't leave it too late, but if you want extra auto's you need to be there to get a VQ.

I had 5 items for matt smith to sign and 5 for david tennant

wasnt really interested in the photos but went diamond passes to make sure i could get my autos

absolute joke. Last time i buy a dp

You would have likely only been able to get 3 as it's been 3 max for a couple of shows at least now. but I agree.

I’ve had the diamond pass for david tennant booked for ages but now my 5 year old son wants to come with me to the event

how do i go about my photo session? Is he ok to accompany me in the queue?

They won't separate a parent and young child so he can stay in the queue with you but he won't be allowed in the photo which might make it tricky.  You will have to ask him to wait a second for you to the side when you get to the front of the queue and collect him on the way out I think.

Hello I have a voucher valid until 2024. I am trying to book tickets for the Winter show but Eventbright does not give the option to use a voucher (that I can see anyway). The only options I can see are Credit Card / Pay Pal / Google Pay. Please can someone help? Am I missing something?

When you go into the shop at the very top there's a tiny blue URL that says something like 'enter promo code', if you click on that before you select the ticket you want, put the code in and check out and it'll take it off your voucher balance.  It may be that you can only buy one ticket at a time if you want to buy multiple ones on your vouchers.

    Hi everyone,

Been twice during summer but never been to the winter con. How busy is it compared to summer?

David T is the one I want the most so Sunday looks like the day I'll attend - just pray he reaches virtual tickets! Would be nice to get Matt Smith auto too but the thought of a Saturday and a Sunday gives me a headache even now! I'm usually knackered after a Saturday in summer.

Thanks for any info re the winter cons!

It is a smaller event, it's hard to quantify the size exactly, but last time I think they only had one or two halls rather than the whole ground and upper floors.  Re David, he's done a few events now, but he is always hugely popular.  Add in people coming for the 3 of them, I think he will be busy.  If you want to try for him on a VQ, I'd advise getting there as ealy as possible and trying to get as low a number as you can.

Ah well... im going to have to wing it on the day then with the VQ.

Are these VQ tickets numbered and do they call out your VQ number when its your turn?

They don't call out as such, given all the guests sitting together and people there, it'd get lost in the crowd, but there will be a small white board at the head of the queue.  You will need to keep popping back and looking at the board to see where they have called to, then join the queue any time after your number is up.

  8. Bus?  TFL says you have to change a few times and it takes about 1 hour 20 but it won't be expensive.   If you go on the TFL site, put in Earls Court or Olympia to Heathrow, then when the options come up edit your journey to only show busses, it'll show you the ones you need to get and the route.  Alternatively call National Express and see if they have any pick up points around Olympia that go to Heathrow.

Ah right, nice. That must have been so cool. Even if they were the nephew. Reminds me of when my relatives used to be friends with actor Sean Bean before he became a worldwide name. Envious really. Sean Bean would be another great guest to have at a Showmaster event one day too, come to think of it. What kind of work was it, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, I certainly do get the feeling that both Stephen and Hugh are very private individuals. Nothing wrong with that of course. Though, I am slightly surprised that you mention Hugh is more private than Stephen. Not saying that I disagree. Just kind of surprised as I see him on the TV more than I do Stephen. So it kind of gave me the opposite impression.

I also did a bit of research shortly after I posted my last message. Apparently Hugh has done an event before. In Glasgow (at a ''no name'' event) but that was several years back now. So its possible it could happen. Not sure if he enjoyed his time in Glasgow. I'm not going to give up hope though.

After all I have managed to meet so many guests over the years, some of which I never thought I would have met. I'm even going to be meeting another next year. I'll be quiet on that one though, as its 'cough' at another event 'cough' ha!

At the end of the day as long as the world is still turning, anything could happen.

It's just a feeling about Hugh so not based on anything specific, I know he does a lot of TV stuff, but I don't see his name a lot outside of that, attending events ect, but then again I'm not particularly looking so I may be very wrong.  I didn't know he had done a signing event before, that's good to know.  Of course, it might have turned him off it completely, some guests do one or two I guess and decide it's not for them, but at least it means he was willing in the past so maybe there's hope.

Interesting. How did you manage to ask one his nephews exactly? Social Media I presume?

Though, I don't mind having Stephen Fry as a guest. I'd love to add his squiggle to my copy of Fable 3. However, I'll admit I'm more of a fan of his friend and 'sidekick' Hugh Laurie. I would literally explode if his name ever got announced. Though I think deep down that both are very rare. I'm not really surprised if none of them ever do events, they really don't seem the type. Which is also why I find the nephews reply totally understandable. It clearly indicates my original thoughts, in truth. Unfortunately.

If only one of them would at least attempt an event, then if they turn out to enjoy it they could encourage the other one. It would be amazing to get both Stephen and Hugh. It's extra money after all. Plus its a token of appreciation as I'm sure many fans in the world would love to meet them both.

I also agree with Raylenth, that if either of them did turn up then it would be at LFCC. They won't be doing the smaller events. It is very unlikely. Rare and popular guests don't really suit those particular events.

It was through work, I used to see his nephew fairly frequently.  And agreed, I love Hugh and would love to meet him.  Both of them.  But yeah, I think they are both very private, Hugh especially so I don't see it happening unfortunately.  I kind of hope though that as one result of covid is the explosion of private signings and more people who wouldn't ever do an event being willing to do those instead, that might be a possibility.

Ultimately you never know, guests who have never done one before have been booked after years of trying, so it is all possible, just very, very unlikely with some names.

    Joanna Lumley

    Simon Callow

    Richard Dreyfuss

    Stephen Fry.

I think Richard and Stephen would be too big for these events.  Richard has done events so he's a possibility for one of the LFCC or Collectormania shows, but I don't think Stephen has ever done one and I don't think he ever will unless circumstances dictate that he needs to.  I jokingly asked one of his nephews once if his uncle would ever do a signing event and he laughed and said no.  Things do change though so you never know, but if they did ever manage it, I think he'd be an LFCC guest.

    Hello!

I've bought a ticket for this event and I was wondering is it possible to buy a ticket(s) for 2x autographs in advance?

I have a Dr Who magazine that I managed to get John Simm & Bernard Cribbins to sign in 2019 at one of your London events.

I'm desperate to get David Tennant to sign my Dr Who magazine and another of my Dr Who collectibles.

I'm coming from Glasgow and I don't want to come all this way and not get my items autographed.

If I come early on the Sunday will I get autographs with the VQ system?

    Many Thanks!

As the others have said you will want to consider his Diamond if you want to make absolutely certain you will get it.  He's done a few events now but is always very popular so it's impossible to say if you will get him on a VQ.  Even with a low VQ we can only say 'you might be lucky'

Nearly two months and it's a sad day. Got to a point where I don't think I can fit any more in so all my gaming pops(well most) will be getting sold.

Somehow, somewhere I can hear a blue bear cheering.....

Or just buy a bigger house.

If I recall, like Peter Capaldi, he barely made it through the diamonds during the summer one.

Like you it was too big a risk to take a chance on

It's always so hard to judge, his last LFCC was his first appearance IIRC so demand was through the roof, but he has done other events since them, so he shouldn't be quite as busy.  But he will still likely be busy all day, especially as you have the HOD/Marvel collectors who may want him now.

I have a photoshoot from the summer event which Michael Ironside didn't attend. I understand my ticket rolls over to this event, but I have not had a replacement or any other communication. Do I just turn up with the original ticket from the summer? Does anyone know how it works? Thanks.

I think they usually get updated around the time of the event

Sadly, I cannot afford the DP ticket for them. Otherwise, I’d gladly pay it to ensure they can obtain his autograph for me.

The other alternative is to use the pre order service and get them to get it for you.  It means you don't get to meet him for an auto, but you can have a photo with him and that sorts that out https://www.showmasterssales.com/collections/film-comic-con-birmingham-pre-orders/products/vinnie-jones-pre-order-nec2022-1

    Thanks for the response.
pleased to hear it’s still the same process, as it will make life easy for me to explain to my mate who is attending for me. Thanks again

And it should be noted that if it is a Diamond guest you are interested in, there's no guarantee they will get to VQ holders depending on how many DP's have been sold, their signing speed and how much other stuff they are tied up with.  Most DP guests will see VQ holders though.

I assume that @showmasters has changed the refund policy on photoshoots again?

As per below with regards to Colin Baker not making it to Glasgow.

    Screenshot-20220820-113253-Facebook.jpg

I don't know if this was info that was made public and I have just missed it.

For people with lack of self control with money (as in an idiot like me haha), I would have probably booked photo shoots for Glasgow when I had money available. Instead I didn't want to risk guest cancellation and be left with a load of vouchers that I may not have been able to use and a such I've spent my cash elsewhere in life.

This is not a complaint, just feedback

Just pointing out that a lot of information seems to not be available as of late, without a lot of investigation.

I appreciate that a larger number of the casual customers will use social media mostly. But personally the forum for me is the main feed for up to date Showmasters related info. And as of late it seems to be getting more and more neglected.

I don't think there's an official change or anything, some they do refund cash though.  It might be a simple case that it's the smaller guests who it doesn't cost them much to refund that they do cash refunds for, but I'm guessing.
