  1. I've ordered there, they're really fast, and the shipping is reasonable to.
  2. It's been seen in films like Wild Wild West and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as well. The Golden Compass also featured steampunk type technology. Steampunk has been getting more exposure here in Holland, mainly at fantasy events, and people really get into it. I know that Rhianna Pratchett (story writer for the pc games Mirror's Edge and Overlord) is a big fan. I really like this stuff, computers with gears, contraptions that wouldn't work in a million years, except at conventions, because you can claim that it's too dangerous to show what can be done with them... One of my fav pics:
  3. is it me, or is suggesting guests for an event that has already happened not very productive?
  4. Dave is always nice to see. Have met him at various cons over the last 10 years, and he's never been anything but courteous (spelling?) to me and my friends. I know that some people think he's a bit grouchy, maybe that's because some other guests are a bit too friendly? Or not too friendly, just more outgoing. Someone like Dominic Keating is a riot at a con, and so will get lots of attention, making someone as lovely and nice as mr Prowse less noticeable.
  5. precisely! I never use the hotel tv at conventions, I usually am either so knackered I drop into bed, or spend the evenings doing nice things with friends.
  6. We were in Hotel Lily. It's even closer than the Ibis (about 30 feet, I guess). We stayed for 2 nights with 3 in the room, and paid 200 GBP total. This included a very decent english breakfast, but not all clean towels (for some weird reason, they decided to change only one towel, leaving two not so clean ones. But we were leaving the day after anyways, so no matter). Room with own bath/shower and toilet. More weird stuff: it had a tv, but no connection, so the only thing on was half snow/half wobbly concentration of images. Beds were decent too, though the decor certainly needed some updating. It wasn't dirty or anything, on the contrary, but it was just old. You could see where they'd fixed the ceiling and stuff. Also has wifi for 5 pounds for the whole stay, with a pretty good and speedy connection. I'd book there again, and the two friends I was with agreed. It doesn't offer much more than a bed and a bathroom, but for a convention that's all I need.
  7. It worked, you guys! I just got an email from the Lost&Found at Schiphol saying that it was turned in, and we can pick it up! I'm really really happy about this, my husband is practically extatic! Thanks for the thoughts everyone!
  8. I'm Dutch, and the only George Baker I know sang Una Paloma Blanca, and Little Green Bag. I now know who you mean though, but this struck me as funny...
  9. We (some Dutch people) always bring stroopwafels. They're caramel waffles, and are really really good. They also have a ton of calories, so they're great when you've been signing for a few hours and need a giddy sugar rush. When I gave a packet to Dominic Keating, who has had them before when he was in Holland, he immediately teared open the package and started eating. He actually made the lady in front of the table who wanted his autograph wait till he'd finished it... This is how you know you gave the right gift Other stroopwafel devotees: - Chris Sarandon - Geof (the guy who draws Fetishman) - Josh Herdman - me! This time round, I wanted to meet so many guests I brought mini packets, with 3 cookies each. The bigger packets hold 8, but I'm not going to lug around all those cookies that aren't for me, am I?
  10. Thank you to all crew members! Having been crew in the past (and probavly will be again, just to see a lot of people again), I know how boring some jobs get, how annoying some people can be, how you can get the giggles during the most unfortunate moments... So thank you all for bearing with us, and working hard to make this LFCC as fantastic as it was! And a special hi for Becky, Graham, Roxy, Megan and Krista (or is that Christa? I can never remember)! No idea if everyone's on here, but it was great to see you guys again, and talk for a bit (between your busy workloads, it was absolutely hectic!)
  11. Glad the folder was found! Stanstill, I really hope yours will be found. Something no-one here can help about: I lost my poster-tube at Schiphol airport coming over. It didn't come through the security check-up, and as I was destracted by being frisked for the first time, I didn't notice it was missing till after we'd landed in London. Came over with a friend, and he says he didn't see it come through either, so it was maybe behind the next bag or something. Now the tube's not that bad, but in it were not only 4 unsigned posters, but one print of a painting of the Enterprise cast, signed by everyone but Scott. I'm really gutted about losing this, and had a huge row with my hubby about it. (he has every right to be angry at me though, I am too) Have tried Schiphol, but it hasn't been returned. If you see someone with a tube with Spongebob stickers and the name Boots and an address on it, tell them I want it back!
  12. Cool pics everyone! I took 3 pictures over the entire weekend, two very fuzzy ones of my friends which I deleted, and one announcing the Brompton Cemetary Open Day (got a real kick out of that one, thought it was hilarious) A friend of mine took more pics, but haven't got them yet. She's on here too, as BorgTeddy (because yes, she's the owner of BorgTeddy, a borgified teddy bear). Need to scan my sigs too, but as I got about 50, might take a while :-s My personal favourite photo moment was standing in the queue for Paul McGann and the group in front of us wanting a picture with Spiderman. The only guy in the group went first, and put his hand around Spidey's waist. But, being a very trim guy, he hardly has a waist, and immediately said " Would you mind taking your hand off my butt?" We laughed a lot, and commented that we (all girls) wouldn't mind putting OUR hands there! Hopefully, someone will post the picture in question, as I thought Spidey was really COOL!
  13. Yep, I did. The Enterprise poster I got at another show a couple of years ago, now finally has all signatures :) Same here! (BT and I are friends actually) Started this one in 2002 with Dominic, and have completed it after 7 years and 2 months. MUCH more distressing: I brought a tube with some posters, including a print of the Enterprise cast with all sigs except Scott's, and it's gone! I lost it at the airport on the way in I was just kicking myself for not paying more attention, but after getting distracted being searched at the security gate (I was frisked), I didn't see it on the rollers, and must have left it there. Am still trying to find out if it's been found. I SO hope I'll get it back, it was just missing Scott's sig, but had Anthony, Jolene, Linda, John, Connor, Dominic and Vaughn Armstrong. Am absolutely gutted, REALLY mad at myself, and was yelled at throught the phone by my husband... And rightly so! As for my experience: I brought my own QL pic, and Scott was immediately quizzed by the man next to him (not sure who he was, light blonde hair?) about what episode he was, to which Scott could only reply: "You were in it!". I was wearing a Star Trek t-shirt with built in wifi-detector (maybe you saw me, it was glowing)and when I explained what it was, they both went "Cool!". At the photoshoot later on, Scott remembered and called me glowing wifi-girl. I just thought he was lovely. He was really relaxed, nice to everyone, and took just enough time to not make you feel rushed, but was still speedy enough to see many fans.
  14. 30 minutes till I leave, 6 hours till London!
  15. I love the Quidditch text! But imy cloak is really really warm.. Might steal Maarten's, he has a cotton hooded cloak. Still will have to wear it on the plane, so I don't know yet. (am at work, that's why this reply is so short for me)
  16. Danny Trejo has appeared in SG, but I doubt that's the kind of guest you mean I hope more will be announced, but we're getting pretty close... And my credit card company will already hate me anyway!
  17. Evanna Lynch and Matthew Lewis attended, and our 4 hour wait standing in the netrance hall certainly paid off, the two of us got 7 autographs from them! One picture is a Dumbledore's Army shot that I'm bringing this weekend, to get signed by the Phelps twins. Where I'll get the other 11 people in the picture I don't know, but am certainly going to try! The movie was really good, but my personal favorite is still Azkaban. Am biased thanks to Gary Oldman One thing: the look of the movie was absolutely fantastic. There it did beat the others actually, imho. @Bellatrix: Of course we're still coming along! Is anyone going dressed up? I'm still in doubt, but would hate to be the only one If I do dress up, it will be as McGonagal. Problem is I'll have to wear some of the costume on the plane, because I didn't book for luggage and can't fit a cloak in my purse. Am I brave enough?
  18. We're still going too, I don't mind paying a bit more. Actually, I saw the movie yesterday! We went to Brussels for the avant-premiere! Not telling anyone though, don't want to spoil anyhting!
  19. Hmmm, would love to come in my McGonagal outfit, but not sure if I will be attending at all...
  20. I'd assume Jacob Kogan, Dominic Keating and Sean Kelly, as Scott is doing hiw own talk. That'd be fun, three different incarnations... Can anyone from SM confirm?
  21. Cool! I've met Chris twice here in Holland, a very nice man with an impressive portfolio. I have several posters of his "Amazons", female figures. They're gorgeous!
  22. This is too bad, he's such a nice guy. And wanted his auto for Sleepy Hollow (ok, I already have 3 of his, but still)
  23. Cool guest! Have never met him, so will definately try to!
  24. Hmmm... Travel £75 Hotel £67 Pre-orders £140 Prime autograph list £490 (that's 35 autos from 30 guests) Extra autographs list £280 (26 autos from the ones I'm not sure about getting, depends on my paycheck this month, what pictures they bring etc) Total £1052 Oh dear, will be broke for 6 months after this one. This is defintely the most expensive con I've ever done.
