  1. Please could we have: Gareth David-Lloyd, Burn Gorman, Kai Owen, Tom Price, Eve Myles, Naoko Mori, and maybe John Barrowman,... And any New Who cast. Thank you ;-D
  2. Well if you can bare to read RTDs interview on AfterElton, it appears that they got it pretty spot on. They mention a Rex Matheson and someone called Esther so who know what else digitalspy got right? JMHO IDIC
  3. YES! Thank you! My only good reason for going was to see friends, now GDL will be there that swings it Lot of effort to get to Hub5, as I'll be in Oxford on the Friday and London on the Monday, some Scottish guy is inconsiderate enough to be touring during Hub 5 wonder who that could be Thanks again Massive Events!
  4. I was prety sure that no filming applied to the guests at partys too? I've tried to get this removed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYyM4PX3X8A#watch-main-area but they've just deleated comments from the three people asking, nicely. I'm concerned that the guests will stop attending partys if they're filmed.
  5. Rest In Peace ANDY He was a great man, and had an amazing voice! I was lucky enough to meet him a few times, and he seemed to be well loved by his fellow actors. He will be missed, sympathies to his family, friends and fans.
  6. RIP ANDY! He was a great man, and had an amazing voice! I was lucky enough to meet him a few times, and he seemed to be well loved by his fellow actors. He will be missed, sympathies to his family, friends and fans.
  7. Matt Rippy Gareth David-Lloyd Burn Gorman Kai Owen Tom Price And either Naoko Mori Or Eve Myles
  8. Excuse me!!! I was one of the people who let others have autographs before myself because John was going early. To say on here that We all knew John was going early is ridiculous and frankly if YOU didnt hear anyone complaining then you were no where near Johns queue. I had the reason why John was leaving early from Too Tall a bit later and I understood. But for someone to come on hear with a comment like you made has really annoyed me. That was very good of you, to let others go first, presumably because you'd already met John before? I apologise on two counts: one, that no, I'd already had my autos, so I was outside in the second bar area, and only heard a lot of laughing and cheering as John left so was not near his que when he did leave, though my claim to have not heard any complaining still holds true; and two, being a fan of Johns, I'm on his yahoo group so maybe we were told more than people who only got their info from SM/ME? I'm editting this to add that I just looked at the old Hub forum, and on the 'final Schedule' thread at on 16th Oct at 4:15pm Showmaster said that John was flying to the USA so wouldn't be at the whole event. They made a typo and said that he would leave at noon on saturday, but that was corrected to Sunday. http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....=43469&st=0 Not sure why or how my comment managed to 'really annoy' you, as in several places in my comment I allowed that 1) I could be wrong, and 2) everything I said were simply my views and opinions. So how, by saying that I never heard any complaints and that everyone I talked to had known that John was leaving on Sunday, can annoy, I don't really know. John's leaving early was talked about in most ques for John's photos and autos, as well as during the talks. I'm quite gregarious, so talked to lost of people, and I didn't find anyone who was unaware that John would be going around noon on Sunday.
  9. I will say first, that everything that I write below are my views and opinions, I really shouldn't need to make that statement, but it seems from other discussions, that it does need to be pointed out. At The Hub, we always knew that John was leaving early on the Sunday, he had to catch a flight to the USA, at the time I didn't hear anyone complain, and frankly, if it was a choice between having John there on the Friday, Saturday and part of the Sunday, or not there at all? I know which I'd plump for, and luckily it was the same one that SM/ME picked too. John is an extremely busy person, the chances of getting him for the whole three days are slim, and if 'real' work comes up, that takes precedence, it's written in the info you read before you buy your ticket. The Hub, and Events like it are THREE Day Events, so going for one day means that you wont get everything on offer. As far as I can remember (I could be wrong), Eve was always booked for only one day. Now I don't know how she travelled to the Event, but I'd like to point out that there was actually a train strike on the Friday, so maybe that's why she didn't get to the 'Drinks Party'? Of course, she could have just been working, and again, as it says in the ticket info. all Guests are subject to work commitments. Burn was definitely only ever booked to attend on the Sunday. The man is preforming in Oliver in the West End! So he would have done an afternoon and evening performance on the Saturday, in London, and then travelled up to Northampton, on his day off, to do the Con. (which I very much doubt pays anything like as much as his role as Bill Sykes in Oliver), then taken part in the signings and photo-shoots and in a Q&A with GDL AND take part in part of the last panel (I know, not only did I watch him, but there are also photos of him in the first part of that panel!), then leaving to travel back to London to work on Oliver again on the Monday. This was his one day off, he really didn't 'have' to do it, and I was amazed, after hearing that Burn didn't really like Cons. that SM/ME had managed to get him. We most likely have GDL, KO, NM and JB to at least partly thank for Burn attending, as bad reviews from his fellow actors would not have encouraged him to attend. When Gareth came on stage for the opening of the Con, didn't you hear him tell us that the Ruby clashed with one of his Intimate Encounters? Didn't you also hear him say that it would take place in his bedroom (does it really matter that it was his managers bedroom and not his?)? He also repeated that that Intimate Encounter would be in his bedroom, while he watched the Rugby, at the Gold Ticket Holder's 'Drinks Party'. How anyone missed this piece of info, I really don't know. One of the great things about the Hub (having been going to Cons organised by others for some 12+ years) is that if the Con goers behave the Guests tend to spend time at the party's and in the bar. They are not payed to be at the party's (Gold Ticket Holders Drinks Party excepted), so when they do this it's a bonus. I managed to have a brief word with Kai (I didn't hang around as I've met him several times before I wanted to let others have a chance), saw Gareth in passing on several occasions (have also met him before, and will be seeing him in May, so didn't hang around him either), and spent sometime chatting with Matt (Rippy) and being amused by others in the bar. I enjoy seeing the actors let their hair down, though I accept that that's not to everyone's taste. All those, including Mr. Phil Ford, behaved in a manor that the fans accepted as friendly, with harmless banter being swapped. Being human, having attended parties, it's not really surprising that some of the Guests might have been late, but I have yet to meet anyone who missed out on a auto or photo-shoot due to this. With around 600 people all wanting at least one auto and one photo (many brought more, even Gold ticket holders, so it would be difficult to guess just how many autos and photos actually got done), it's bound to be a little rushed. I, however never spent more than 30 mins. in a que, and of course that time is taken up chatting to fellow fans, making new friends and meeting up with old ones, is all part of these Cons. I've said this before, but I'm working through your OP so I'll say it again; on the information that SM/ME give you, before you buy your ticket is says that "All guests appear subject to work commitments." Acting is their main occupation, signings and conventions they do when they can, for extra money, though I doubt it pays that well. I doubt very much that actors get work from attending Cons, and as non of the actors know if there will be another series, nor if they will be in it, promoting the show isn't necessarily going to help their careers either. With John, and the other actors, I really doubt that SM/ME know, anymore than the actors themselves often do, exactly what they'll be doing in two weeks, let alone in October! The Entertainment industry doesn't work the same way other occupations work. Go to the Oliver website to buy a ticket, and you get to choose which Nancy you see by what day you go, "sickness and holiday permitting". And you wont know till you take your seat which Oliver you're going to see. As for ME 'tolerating' coming and going of Guest, I just hope people like Burn aren't reading this post. There are actors who are in major, long running TV shows, who never take part in Conventions, they all make very good money and have wonderful careers. Actors do not NEED to take part in Cons, yes they get paid, but I'm sure they would get paid more for doing other things. So when actors do Cons and are enjoyable guests, it shouldn't surprise you 1) that the organisers give them some leeway (on top of the contractual leeway that concerns work commitments) and 2) that those of us who enjoy what we do get for just under £200, are quick to assure both SM/ME and the guests that we understand that they are all doing their best. Considering that all most all the Gold ticket were sold before Hub2 ended, and that Silver have also now all gone, it would suggest that most people are happy with the learning curve that ME is taking. It's really up to you and your friends if you buy tickets. However I beg to differ with you on the significance of gold and silver tickets selling out; its the money that ME gets from the tickets sold that pays for the guests (and the venue etc), so, those who've already paid for gold and silver tickets, are paying now, for the guest that your friends are deciding if they want to see. I'm not saying don't tell SM/SM where they could make improvements, but your OP, in my opinion (and that's all I can give), suggests that the Event was poorly run, with Guests being unprofessional, disappointing fans, and ME 'tolerating' this behaviour. There have been, in the not too distance past, Cons in other fandoms, that cost well over £400 that were 'really' poorly run. If you'd been to, or knew someone who'd been to those you'd see how well SM/ME is doing and how fast they are learning. Thank you SM/ME for a great Convention, I'm sure you will continue to improve.
  10. Name: A.J (AKA just4bri on LJ) Age: 2 years older than JB. Location: Both the Euston to Brum rail line and the Grand Union Canal, cut through my Shires town. Ticket type: Gold, again. Reason for going: Several; meet up with Con going friends, meet up with LJ friends, meet new friends, chat to fellow Torchwood/Scifi geeks, listin/die laughing at talks, party/dance, chat with guests, get autos and have hug from guest while photo is taken (might think of other reasons later).
  11. No I diagree strongly - We need Freema at the Hub, Sara Lloyd was also an excellent guest. Whose Grumpy? And you're perfectly entitled to disagree, just as I am. That's whats so great about these forums and fandom in general. We're all different and have our own preferences, would be boring if we were all the same. My opinions about Freema, James, and Sara, are just that, my opinions. I found Sara fine at the autos, but she spoilt that by being rather childish during the talks, in my opinion. Grumpy was Roderic Culver, at one point I think it was Gareth, but it could have been Tom, asked him if he really needed to be there. When Roderic replied, "no", he was asked "Why the F*** are you still here then?" Actually missed the last talk as I had to be gone by 11.30 - he didn't seem very happy when he was signing autos either. Oh that's a shame, Burn came on stage for a few minutes of the last talk, but had to leave part way through. Everyone in the last talk, save for Roderic, seemed to really enjoy themselves, even the actress (Siobhan Hewlett) who was in the same single episode of Torchwood as Roderic! Roderic also chewed gum, loudly into the mic, all the way through the last talk! He's from an acting family, he has to know how bad that sounds.

  13. In my opinion, it wouldn't really be a Hub Con without Gareth, and Kai. And having Gareth on stage with John would really be a blast. We'd need a telescope to see the old 'Barrowman line'!

    Matt Rippy

I too wonderd why he wasn't in the poll? Please can we have Rippy back, he was funny, talkative and very personable...basically the perfect Con guest. And just think, both Captain Jack Harkness' at the same Con! Oh and if we get Gareth back, we could have a Captain and Ianto sandwich, come on, you know you want one!
  15. I too feel that Freema would be better suited to a Doctor Who Con. I would also feel that, for instance, James Marsters would be better at A Buffy Con, and before I get jumped on, I am actaully a James Marsters fan! I would rather have any of the guests from the Hub, and Hub2 (save for Sara Lloyd from the Hub and Grumpy from Hub2), back at Hub 3 than either Freema or James. Would I talk to James and Freema if they were at Hub 3, yes, because it's not a question of not wanting to see them, or liking them, just feeling that they would be better at other Cons.
