  1. Saw POA last night

As I said in my note, they have made the cinematography more gritty and more real. The whole film is shot in a much darker way, it doesn't have that yellowish "Disney" glow to it that the first 2 did. Also with the introduction of the Dementors, which were very good indeed. Stuart.
  2. POA what do you think??

Great film. A lot less kiddie than the first 2, really dark. The cinematography is more gritty, more real. It doesn't have the "Disney" glow to it that I felt was wrong in the first 2. The castle and grounds and so much more interesting to look at. The story was well done, especially as they had to shorten a much longer book. It has all of the main scene in it and the story is very well told. My only criticism is that some of the main scenes felt a bit rushed and so for people who haven't read the book (is there anyone left?) they may find they miss something important to the plot. The 3 main characters have really grown into their roles (literally). Their new more mature look really goes well with the more adult orientated film. Emma Watson, is a really little star now. In the first film I felt she was over acting, but it worked as it was how I felt Hermione should be. But in this film she really shines, I think we'll be hearing about her for at least the next 20 years. Dan Radcliffe, does a great job of playing the new mature, feeling Harry. With Rupert Grint (how I felt was the highlight of the first 2 films) doesn't let us down, he is still very much Ron, with some very funny one liners. I have to admit that I wasn't overly happy when I heard that Gary Oldman was going to play Sirius. He just wasn't who I had pictured Sirius to be. But I have to say I was wrong, Oldman really brings Black to life. Then there is David Thewlis as Remus Lupin. He does a good job but in this case he really didn't live up to my expectations. I saw Lupin as a much more vibrant (spark in his eyes) kind of character in the books and never really felt that in Thewlis' performance. It was never going to be easy for Michael Gambon to pick up were the late great Richard Harris had left off, but he does OK. I think in the next film we may have accepted him. But in this one I was still thinking "It's not Richard". Devon Murrey (Seamus) gets to say more in this film and shows he's more than up for it. I hope they do more with his character in the next couple of films. The Weasley twin are of course there again, but I felt that as with the last 2 films the Phelps twins sound like they are giving a speech rather than being in a conversation. Robbie Coltrane is again a wonderful Hagrid. I could not imagine anyone else playing the part, he is just great. My favourite character I would say is Hermione, so well acted by Emma Watson. It is definitely my favourite so far. Stuart.

  4. LOTR FOTR Talk

Hi, I have the luck of living in MK and went to CM3 and CM4, tried to get tickets for last years (CM4) talks but was too late (I'm guessing it was sold out due to Hobbit fever). So I decided this year was the year. Had a really good time, the stars were very amusing. Graig Parker was very cool (can someone tell me what the Stoat is about?). Lawrence Maroare was very funny, with his pink star sun glasses, and his mini fashion parade. I was just wondering who else from the forum was there, and how you found it? Saw a number of Elves, and I believe the girl in the Gordor Armor with the chain mail is a member??!?!? If you where there you probably saw me, I'm a bit hard to miss, being 6'10" and 20 Stone. I'm going to be at the TTT talk tonight, so say hello if you see me. Cheers, Too Tall.
  5. LOTR FOTR Talk

Just got back from the TTT talk and it was if anything even better than yesterdays. I think Harry Sinclair may have had a couple of beers tonight because he was a completely different guy. for the first 20 minutes the other couldn't get a word in. Craig Parker pretty much ran the show and was very good indeed. Jed was acting the Clown and spitting water all over the place, mainly on himself though. There was a bit of the water fight going on between Craig and Sala, but then Lawrence put a quick stop to it by pooring water over the 2 of them. Cheers, Too Tall.
  6. LOTR FOTR Talk

mimis, No my hair's straight, short and black. I was wearing a black leather jacket and a light yellow t-shirt. I was sat second row back from the main aisle next to the entrance. But I am reeeally tall. Too Tall.
  7. LOTR FOTR Talk

I was very impressed with that little boys question about what there fears are? So no sending Craig any toads? Or do you think he meant he finds Ray Parker scary?
  8. Peter Mayhew

I had a similer experience with Peter myself at a different event. I asked him about problems with his height (being a similer height myself) and he just said "How many?" i.e. signitures. My mate and I were very underwelmed by him. It was a shame aa Chewbacca has been a favorite chartacter of mine for years (I regulary get called a wookie by friends).
  9. Sheela, I too live in MK. The couchway is a bit outside the town centre. Shame you're not coming later I pass it on my way home from work at about 18:30. Your best bet is to get on a bus (there are quite a few from the coachway) to CMK Bus Station. You'll know you're there when you see the CMK shopping centre, and you're on a stone paved road. Your hotel is then only a 2-3 minute walk away. Ask the driver he'll be able to point you in the right direction, it's basically 300m south west of you. Too Tall.
