While complaining on the day is always beneficial for all involved, I can understand that some might not want to complain about pit bosses etc. as they might feel worried about taking it to someone else of the same level of power in case it would make no difference.
This is a feedback thread, so we are giving feedback of our experience in the hopes it will be different next time, not so much to erase the past.
Please don't dismiss us as liars, you can't have seen everything that happened over the weekend.

Please please please address the issue with pit bosses physically manhandling people into photoshoots, no attendee should ever have to have someones hands placed on them unless they're doing wrong. The MJF shoot on Sunday was one of the worst I've encountered in 13 years of attending events.

i am sorry i was there no one was manhadling anyone all they did was have there had behind you and moved it to tall you when it was your time to move forward , the shoot was a long distance from the photographer and it was hard to her the photographer say next like in other shoots , i know it might have seemed odd but it was just a way to let the person know you are good to move forward , hundreds of people went through this shoot i was there over seeing it and directing people just out from he shoot and i only saw happy people that did not feel in any way violated , i do think you are over reacting on this on one is there to upset or push or do something wrong with anyone , we just wanted it to go right for everyone and that has to included MJF who had an amassing time and loved being apart of the event even though he found it very hard work and took a lot out of him , but he would not have changed it for the world as he did really enjoy meeting so many people that had so much love and energy , and he told that to me himself.

You cannot tell people they're over-reacting about how being touched/shoved/treated by crew members, you can't dictate their experience. You've been doing this for years, as you keep saying, so you must be aware that touching people can lead to adverse problems, such as panic attacks, falling over etc. please address this problem professionally. No one questioned whether MJF was happy with the event, that's an unnecessary addition to your reply.
Alice i think you seem to be looking for a argument ? i am not i a, telling you the truth and thats all , for the shoots where the photographer is a long way from the person going next a tap on the shoulder or a light touch on the back is not unusual also can i point out that EVERY person will have seen this happen to the person infant of them so EVERYONE will know what to expect.
How else are we to be affective and efficient in letting you know you are ready to go, these please are noisy and if the camera is set up a bit a way the photographer cannot shout all day or make it work properly , there is a big difference between a list tap or light contact then a shove and no one shuved anyone i was there.
now lets not make this into something it was not that is a wast of everyones time , i am on here talking to you all so you get the answers you need and so you understand a little more about what and why things happened and what we plan to do in the future , we do this because we care and we care that you get what you want , constructive criticism is great intel is also great arguing and trying to make something into something is was not is not helpful or good for anyone so lets move on.

Not looking for an argument, just upset to see someone making a valid complaint about a situation they experienced and being told they're over-reacting. I appreciate you were there but you cannot know that each person was lightly tapped vs. shoved, and like I said touching can be an issue for someone no matter how lightly the crew member does it! I just want people's complaints to be taken seriously and not be dismissed.

Funny saying the Diamond passes worked well when clearly there were people with them who missed out on Robert Englunds autograph as he wasn't signing on Sunday due to someone somewhere not allowing for how long the makeup thing would take. Surely something that should have been known and factored in waaay in advance.
Also it would have been nice if the diamond passes for Sigourneys autograph had been split between saturday and sunday like they were supposed to have been. I complained to the pit boss about this as no-one was checking the numbers on the passes as I knew it was going to limit the number of normal VTs they would get through but was told that they were just letting anyone join and didn't care about the supposed day split. Same with photo sessions, no accounting for batch 1 or 2.
This meant my friend nearly missed out on getting the autograph despite having been queuing since before 6:30 and having a decent VT number as there was little time left once all diamonds had gone through although thankfully she did get it.
Honestly, if you're going to say you have a system in place to split things over two days please stick to it. There was no reason to change anything other than they couldn't be bothered and were just letting any pass number in. That was the general gist of what I was told. Not fare on those ordinary ticket holders who had VTs. Some would have stood a much better chance if only those diamonds that were supposed to get the auto on Saturday had been allowed to do so.
This is one of the big problems I have. We're told in advance that this and that will happen but on the day it often seems to go out the window and I don't think it's fair. Sure it didn't affect me much but if only half the Diamond passes had been allowed into the autograph queue on Saturday that would be a lot more VTs that would have stood a chance.
Same with VTs. I had none of mine for other guests taken off me. Every year we're told this won't happen again but it does, even when I had the numbers checked in the queue. Maybe that's one of the reasons a lot of people missed out, people were coming away and giving the uncollected ticket to a friend so low numbers were in constant circulation.
And please, please, please have barriers or tape cordoning off photo and auto queues, I'm sick and tired of people pushing past as if it's a thoroughfare or working their way to the front just to take a photo of the guest at the table and would actually indicate where the queue is and and separate it from the people just milling around.
All basic stuff and really needed with the number of people there.
And maybe I missed it but I saw no sign of any food, drink or toilet facilities when queuing up on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Maybe I just missed that but there was certainly nothing obvious when walking up from the station to join the queue.
Food and drink was available in the lines just had to ask the secretary staff that was outside from 3 am and walking up and down all morning they were there to help and did help many 1000s of fans and most thought this year they did a great job.
Toilets were also available as above just ask and you would have been taken out of the line and guided to them and taken back to your line as that was all in place for everyone
As to Robert not signing that was down to him not us not knowing how long it takes to put the pack up on i am sorry we do work these things out we do not just guess but things in life change and people are human.

That's nice and all but no mention was made on here as far as I'm aware, or sign posted at the event. I had zero idea food, drink and toliets were available!

I've read a lot of feedback from here and other posts, and from what my friends were saying during the weekend, so along with my own... here's my essay haha:
First of all I'm very upset that people with invisible disabilities (i.e. not in a chair, holding a stick etc.) may have been disbelieved by crew when they went to get their blue badges to help them access queues etc., crew should be taught that not all disabilities are visually apparent, and that doesn't make the person any less in need of the blue badge. I've seen from feedback a great lack of respect from both crew and customers to people with disabilities and it should be addressed.
Second, I am happy to say no crew member touched me as far as I'm aware, and I'm shocked that any would thing it was ok to do so. You cannot touch people you don't know for no good reason, end of. We are not void of the ability to understand hand movements or vocal instructions, to be physically touched and shoved to a place can be very distressing. You could invoke a panic attack, or cause someone to fall and hurt themselves. Please, do NOT touch people. The fact this has happened within popular photoshoots (MJF in particular) makes me think they were oversold. Shoving people through to fit them into a time slot is not acceptable, and just ruins the experience for the customer who is paying a lot of money to be there.
Third, checking photos for issues seems to be solely on the customer. While you say the photographer and the crew member receiving the print outs do that, I don't think they do. I got my pic with the clock prop the Friday when it was super quiet, and I knew I had blinked so told the photographer, who showed me his screen saying he couldn't really tell but if I am, just come back around and he'll do it again. The screen showed that a mere fraction of it showed the image, so if the other cameras were the same, the photographer would not know to alert us before we move off to get our pic. When I first started going to cons (my first professional picture shoot was in 2007), the photographer would pause, check and let us know if it was ok to move on. I realise that takes time, but I really miss that as the photographer was able to catch that the guest in my picture wasn't smiling properly, and saved me finding out too late (as these were when they were sent off for development). I know instant processing of the pic means the photographer doesn't need to check any more, but as seen earlier with the man and his son's picture, it seems asking for a re-shoot for a picture that is obviously needing re-shooting is a tall order. So what are we to do when there is an obvious issue and the crew refuses us the ability to amend it?
On a similar note, the photographer for David Bradley was real keen on close ups... all my other pics are also landscape but aren't collarbone up as mine is with his. I wouldn't say it's a very flattering picture of me as my arm is chopped off at the side! Not sure if it was a space issue in David's area, but I hope I'm not the only one who wouldn't have minded a bit of a less close shot!
Fourth, I'm gonna say it - overcrowding. Of course not to the level of last year's, but still a lot this year's Saturday. I'm going to say you didn't sell over capacity, but I think it was more due to the fact the more popular things were lumped together on the same floors. Dealers, autos and photo areas all in the same floor, all being the places that would get most traffic. I agree with many who request that one floor be dedicated to each, so that queues wont bleed into dealers areas etc. and walking past areas wouldn't take forever due to congestion. I managed to get to level 3 just once, to sit down, and that took ages as the queues for the lifts were forever and I had no idea how to get up via stairs (and found out that if I had tried it would've taken longer). This poses a safety risk, and my friends and I did say while we were on level 3 that it would probably be the end of us if there was an emergency and an evacuation was required, since it took so long for anyone to get off the level.
Fifth, gold passes... seemed to be oversold? I could be wrong but it seemed damn near impossible to get any of the 'bigger' guests with just a VQ ticket as it seemed an endless list of GP people getting through into the queue and VQ ticket numbers barely rising beyond a certain double digit point. I was lucky I didn't want many autos, but I think if this was another year I'd be rather miffed.
I was a MJF diamond pass holder (#16 woo!) and got everything I was entitled to with no difficulty, possibly due to my low number. Hoping everyone else who had his diamond pass got everything ok. The BttF reunion talk was the only thing I found fraught out of the whole of his things, and that was due to poor organisation of the diamond pass customers, who were not told what to do until we got into the super stage and were struggling to get to where we were instructed. My numbers were called up first but having to fight my way through a crowd of other higher numbers meant I didn't get a seat as close as my number entitled me to (in fairness I wasn't too fussed as I just needed to sit down at that point, due to my health, but still I imagine other low numbers would be more upset with this). But yes, otherwise had a great diamond pass experience, and would happily buy another one again.
My other problems were my own really (I was exhausted, but that's as I got little sleep and I have CFS so it wore me down pretty quickly). I would LOVE a relaxing zone, as when I wasn't off doing scheduled things I needed to sit down, and having a designated area where you know you wont be tripping someone over or blocking a fire exit would be nice!
The guys who regularly organise the photo areas were fantastic, while Photo Area A was congested, the crew member I had for Gambon and MJF on the Saturday was brilliant at setting up the queue, and the guys in C and D on the Sunday were also hyper organised, which was very appreciated.
I have been attending SM events for nine years now and do treat them as my holidays (lord knows why, more stressful than day to day life haha) and always love looking back on them, but the past 2 years have been more stress than fun at the time of the event, which is due mainly to overcrowding. Knowing your venue's capacity is key - as is not selling it out to capacity.

While there is no law enforcement for not smoking in the queue, I think it's common decency and respect to not do so. You do not know if the people around you have asthma or other health conditions which could be triggered by smoke. We're all penned in with each other, and so can't step away if our health is being harmed by someone else who couldn't wait until they were away from the queue. I personally noticed it both Saturday and Sunday, once being covered in ashes as well as the smoke. Not exactly what you want when you're overheated, tired and wanting to look and smell your best.

Scrapping VQ tickets would be a nightmare. They give the ability to do other things planned while having the chance to join the queue later when your number is up. Without that, queues would be crazy long, people would have to keep losing their place to go get to their scheduled stuff, and overall everyone would be very unhappy!

Able bodied people do NOT know what it's like to live in another's body, so they shouldn't judge whether they should be getting to the front of the queue or not. It's not a VIP pass, and telling people they should queue like everyone else in the spirit of 'we're all at a convention' is ridiculous. You do not know others pain or limitations, or how lucky you are that you can queue happily without feeling like you could pass out or keel over for some reason.
I wasn't going to get into a debate but as your clearly making that statement in relation to my comments I'll respond.
Ilovemyadams put it perfectly, unfortunately this country has a culture of people trying to get something for nothing which takes this away from the people that genuinely needs assistance and support. All I'm saying is Showmasters are going to have to be very careful because it will open the floodgates to people who are trying their luck as we have seen this year there is plenty of people that will do anything to avoid queing like the rest of us have to.
People faking disabilities, as mentioned above, is a minority issue. I would never, ever doubt and have the attitude you have towards anyone in real life. It's much more likely they have the disability they say they have, than to be faking it for queue jumping benefits.

I don't think it's purely about money making, table photos take time to be done so a lot may have those signs up in anticipation for a long queue
I'm happy to say I got a table photo with Amazon Eve, despite my friend being the one who bought her auto (I felt quite cheeky asking haha). She was great

A major issue I saw was the busiest photo area (A) was right next to a lift which was in use for people who were unable to take the stairs, and due to overcrowding of many people (lots seemed to not want to leave the area despite the crew telling them they wouldn't be called up til later) it was a big problem for lift users to pass through properly.
Took forever to get to level 3 Saturday afternoon, so only went up there once. We did comment jokingly that if an emergency occurred as we were up there, we'd never ever get out in time. So like last year I felt we weren't entirely safe. I could only navigate myself
The venue itself has strange layout. The cloakroom not being on the ground floor was odd, considering lots would be carrying heavy luggage and the lifts weren't always accessible.
Though I'd like to say I loved the crew managing the photo areas, they always do a great job of herding us about. I just wish more people would actually listen to them when they say to move etc. or come back later for their batch #.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be in your pictures.
Indeed not but right time and place. Inside a crowded convention hall is neither of those. not a place to be waving a stick around, bad enough just avoiding bags, poster tubes and people generally.
I know that :) said it myself earlier. Just people ragging on others for wanting to be in their scenic pics. I personally find more memories in pics of places with me or my friends/family in them, than just the place itself.

Yeah I love selfie sticks, but in the right environment. Like taking pics outside etc. where there's plenty of space so no one is likely to get hit by one. Inside a busy building, not a good idea haha

I actually agree with notice being given. as it means people have a chance to plan otherwise might sell out before people even know about it.
That could be countered by the tickets being released at a set time after the announcement so everyone would have a chance to get them. Would lessen disappointment and prevent forum crashes etc.

Please don't be rude about any of the guests. They all appeal to some people, and just because they're not someone you're interested in, it's not fair to wish they'd cancel instead. Other people would be disappointed then.Brace yourselves for more inevitable cancelations...
shame it cant be some of the 3 second part actors from other films as opposed to "bigger" guests.
i guess thats just the way things are though
please make sure the next event has an even spread of guests instead of nearly a 3rd of all the movie and tv guests all being from one franchise.
just saying.
anyway, i doubt there is much change of getting a replacement TWD guest, so at least i'll have a bit more money to spend on things on the stalls
Cast reunions are AMAZING to big fans of the movie/s (Back to the Future is my favourite series). I can't imagine you'd be complaining if it was a reunion of your favourite movie series? Respect the fact it's those franchises special anniversarys etc. I have zero interest in Alien but so happy for my friends who love the franchise as they're getting the opportunity to meet their legends. Think outside your own interests, this is an amazing line up for lots of different people. I'm sure next year will have another amazing line up for different franchises too.
Yes cast reunions are great if you a fan of the movie. Isn't it alienating a lot of people are are not though? I have to agree with previous post there should be a wider selection of guests to appeal to more people. Variety is the spice of life after all!
I really can't see how there isn't variety? There are BttF, Alien, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Stargate, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Marvel, horror icons (Scream, Gremlins Nightmare etc.), The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Musketeers, The 100, Arrow, Prison Break, Vampire Diaries, Falling Skies, Chuck, The Hobbit, Banshee, Penny Dreadful, American Horror Story, Spooks, Downton Abbey, TMNT, Power Rangers and more guests. Some are more iconic than others maybe, but while you may sit and say 'who?' at one guest, another conventioner is super excited to meet that person. It's not plausible to headliners for each fandom, there are so many shows and movies people adore, the convention would be MANIC and unbearable for everyone involved. How much wider do you want this selection?
