London Film and Comic Con - 6th-8th July 2012
zebredy replied to showmasters's topic in London Film and Comic Con 2012
Really looking forward to the event, glad hubby and I can just walk up to the nearest train station and get a train straight to the event. Only down side is its the same weekend as colourthon, a charity 13.1mile walk that starts at 8pm on the the 7th in Southend, that my hubby and I are hoping to do in honour of a friend who sadly passed last year (and cause training for the event i.e. walking a lot more is helping us to lose excess weight and get into shape) Ah well these things can't be avoided, guess I'll have to find some way of killing two birds with one stone so to speak. He was also in 'Space Camp' which I love watching and finally got round to getting on DVD last Christmas. Cool guest even if I haven't seen most the other things he's been in yet (still got aliens sitting on the shelf ready to watch some day)... LLAP -

I haven't been able to discuss this with the office yet. As Jason has said they have a plan, it's to be worked through. Once it is it'll be confirmed. Until then I can't say for sure, BUT I hope will it be possible. We just need to make sure the system is fair. . Ok thanks for the reply much appreciated. I'd rather miss out on a pre-paid ticket and have to buy one on the day then have to go up with out my hubby so will wait till you get the word from up hight before I purchase anything online.. LLAP -
Its easy for me to choose. I can either pay twice for my hubby and I to be in the same photo thus a £20 photo becomes £40 or I can pay £20 for said actors auto, which would I go for, well its easy (putting aside the fact I would get two photo shoot pics when I only need/want one) I choose the cheaper option every time now... If I was on my own would my choices be different, I'm not and hate thinking about being without my hubby so not going to go there lol LLAP

So now I have lost the plot lol and got confused reading some of the last posts. Just to clarify if I got a pre-paid ticket (if there are any left next month) then how would it work with my hubby coming up with me to get that auto when we only have one ticket? LLAP -
Good to know thanks for that. And yes the bigger hard cases I have certainly do take up a lot more room LLAP
-
Totally agree. We have all the Star Treks in the big hard cases. We got so many and well I'm so fussy about my sets looking the same that I wanted to get the rest in the same sets as well. My hubby was lucky enough to get some second hand on Amazon for under £14 (£12 being the cheapest he got one season for) and we got some others we were missing from CEX (again for under £14). We only need TOS (which we missed out on due to lack of funds when we were in CEX once) 1 season of DS9 and 3 of Voyager and we will have them all in the bigger hard cases. I'm glad we got the hard cases as I heard the slim ones don't come with the extras, if that's true well I love my extras would have hated missing out on them.. Would love to have TNG on BR but as I don't watch them that much and spent so much on the DVDs todate I can't see us getting them any time soon. Certainly don't think my hubby would be to happy having the whole show twice over just to get it on BR when he can't even fully appreciate BR anyway due to his slightly wonky eyes.. LLAP

Not sure if someone already mentioned this sorry if they have, but did you know that some of the movies that have come out on BR in the UK are have less extras on them then the US version of the same movie. Take The Incredibles for example. I was lucky to get a copy of the US version second hand of someone as after finding out it had more extras then the UK version I knew I had to have it. Its a shame really as there is no real reason why we should not get most of these extras on our BRs as well, granted there are a lot of movies where we get the same extras or maybe even better PQ but why do some movies fall through the net? Any One Worried about the hotel prices
zebredy replied to spikesteve's topic in London Film and Comic Con 2012
This is one time when I am glad I live where I do. Usually I can't go to an event due to hotel and or travel costs involved which eat into most of my spending money (can do MK there and back in a day by car so that event is ok too) Anyway I live in Essex, but just outside London. A couple trains and I'm at the event. With these higher then normal hotel prices you guys are all talking about, I can so see a friend wanting to use the new sofa bed to help save a few quid (the sofa bed is defiantly something I'm glad I just purchased as its nice having friends to stay once in a while).. Man Cave (or woman cave) or dedicated Sci-Fi room if you will
zebredy replied to zebredy's topic in General chat
TV is on its way and so is the new sofa bed, now is the hard part, deciding what autographs, photos etc to hang where, what type of storage to get, where to hang our bat'leths and where to put all my Me To You Bears. Now I do wish I was having kids, cause setting a simple bedroom up for them seems a lot less stressful then doing a multi purpose room lol... LLAP -

Yeah seen that thread, some great Star Trek rooms there. Wondering if anyone has a room with other stuff in it besides trek (when our room is finished I know its going to be filled with Trek stuff too though, along with other items) Hopefully when my hubby and I get the back room sorted I can take some pics to put on here. Should be done with in the next month or so (at most) needs to be as I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to organise a small party round ours for my 30th in December. Don't expect much though when I do get round to photographing room, not exactly loaded with cash.. LLAP -

Anyone out there got a room in there house / flat that they use as a home cinema room (other then the main living-room) or a place where they store and display all there sci-fi stuff, like autographs, photo taken with the guests, posters, figures, replica weapons, models etc Thinking of turning the back bedroom (second bedroom) into one of these such rooms. No kids on the way just yet, it seems a shame just to have it as a boring old guest bedroom that only gets used 2-3 times a year at most. Plan is to get a nice big TV mainly for watching blu-rays (rooms not really big enough for a projector) and a sofa bed in there and put some of our sci-fi stuff in there as well. Just wondering who else has done similar to this and what you've done exactly? LLAP -
TNG - Genesis Hoping to watch TNG all the way through right from the beginning soon (missing one season still so need to get that sorted first lol) LLAP

For anyone interested I know there is a bus from Lakeside shopping center in Essex that goes straight to Blue Water so no trouble getting across the bridge if you don't have a car, or know someone who has one. So if you can make it to Lakeside by public transport you can easily get to Blue Water (though don't ask me what time the buses are as I have no clue plus I'll be going in a car from Havering).. Yeah especially as its supposed to be a slightly more upmarket shopping center then others. Not that normal people don't go there, just that I remember my mum saying when it first opened that they wouldn't let certain shops in like Argos and Woolworths (when it was around) LLAP

Another event I could get to in less then 30mins, this time by car and not by the rubbish they call public transport lol... LLAP
-
Looking forward to possibly attending this event, downside is...

Was gona say that, but also if you want his autograph then you WILL need to queue earlier in order to be guaranteed that. Just go in get a virtual queue ticket, then come back when ever you like to get your autograph after the number on your virtual queue ticket has come up.. LLAP -
So season 3 just started last week and I'm loving it, but I don't seem to know any other people out there who are watching this show other then my husband and my mum. I did post about the show many many many months ago but got few replies. Is anyone out there on these forums a fan too? I'm totally hooked and loving it more and more each day. The dreams with Paula Abdul are just hilarious, its the only show at the moment that really gets me laughing so hard I nearly pee myself lol.. LLAP
