  1. Totally agree about ASDA Simondo. blu-rays are the way forward for me now (pick up a few cheap DVDs here and there but still) ASDA do some great BRs for £6-£10, one being RED which is still priced at over £14 in Tesco. I also like to go to Blockbusters, cause even though they do sell brand new movies, they do a lot of good quality second hand ones. In my local blockbusters, they do a selection of second hand DVDs for £4 each or 3 for £10 and a selection of BRs for £8 each or 3 for £20. CEX is another shop to look out for, there not everywhere but there are a fair few in the country. They sell DVDs, BRs, Games and other things like mobile phones and games consoles, all second hand and you can trade your old DVDs etc in with them or get cash. Only problem I have found with CEX is that sometimes there prices for second hand items can be a little high for example play.com and other shops might have something priced at lover at £10, when CEX sell it for £8 it seems like a good price right? Problem is when other shops or even play.com drop the price below £8 CEX doesn't change there price at all.. I also use DVD Profiler but as I'm mainly buying BRs now I use the the features on blu-ray.com to create a list of the BRs in my collection. Its great, it doesn't cost me anything (other then having to be a member of the site) and it gives me similar features to DVD profiler, I can add my own categories, see statistics, and who else has similar collections to me, or likes the same movies as me etc, lol.. LLAP
  2. Would have been nice if I could have picked more then one movie, as am looking forward to a few of them... Oh well, I chose Cars 2 and it looks like I was the only one so far, been waiting for this ever since I first found out about it months ago.. LLAP
  3. Blu-Ray: Rambo First Blood and RED, both great movies I will be re-watching at some point DVD: Battle of Los Angeles (as soon as I saw 'SYFY Presents' I knew it would be cr*p) I didn't sit through the hole thing but my hubby said it was a cheap rip off of Independence Day (I wouldn't have been that kind to it). At least it only cost him £3 from Tesco and that he liked it.. Currently watching LEON on BR (seen it before, but its a little longer then I remember) LLAP
  4. Think I have an idea of who I want to see now (well until anymore guests are announced or any cancel) Defiantly Getting Mark Sheppard Sean Maher Robert Knepper Maybes Brian Tochi - depends on how much money I have and what photos they have to get signed Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa - again depends on how much money I have and what photos they have to get signed Richard Hatch - if my other half has not already seen him Christopher Lloyd - if the money is there and I can find a decent photo before the event LLAP
  5. I never like to be the only one queueing (though its never happened yet) If I catch a 5:30 train all the way to the event then I should get there for about 6:15-6:30, I'm not seeing any Dr Who guests but I hate being way back in a really long queue Edit - Just checked and there are some closures on the District line, which means just taking another train or two to avoid the part that's close, but that won't delay my journey much at all. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/livetravelnews/plann...ar/default.aspx LLAP
  6. Paddington and West Brompton are both on the District Line, on the Tube. They are also both mainline stations. TFL is your friend Yeah right TFL is your friend LMAO, every time I want to go somewhere and check that site, there are problems with the trains, I think transport for London has it in for me lol. Anyway lucky me just has to walk 10mins down the road (assuming trains are ok that weekend) and then get a district line train straight to the event wish other events were that close LLAP
  7. I used to go years ago to these events before I met my other half and I have some stuff just signed to me which now being with him seems a little odd to say the least. Anything that was personalised to just me or him, there seems little point in framing and putting up now. I never get anything personalised with mine and or my hubbies name on as well as the guests autograph for other reasons, well for one or two with our names on as well as there autograph would just seem out of place amongst all the other none personalised stuff we have up in our flat.. I know one person who sometimes gets two sign pictures from a guest, one for his own little album with stuff just signed to him, and another that isn't personalised, for him and his wife. Also sometimes there are guests that only he wants to see so he gets the auto personalised to him as its only for him, but why? Its not like he is ever gona leave her so needs his own stash of autos just in case? I don't really have much of an issue with dealers, ok so yes you can't always be 100% sure the auto is genuine or that the guests secretary / personal assistant didn't sign it on his/her behalf and then mail it back to the dealer, but that's the chance you take, not everyone can meet all the guests they want so for some this is the only way to obtain some guests autograph. Anyway not everyone is so dishonest, most people sell legitimate stuff... LLAP
  8. Cool photos DracoMalfoy Thanks, yeah that costume did look great, wish I had the time, money and skill to pull off something like that. Here are some more photos of other people in there costumes, plus a Darlek and an R2D2 LLAP
  9. Hope you like these photos, excuse the rubbish one of me and David Blue the camera was on the wrong settings Will post more later. LLAP
  10. Just tried on my TNG medical top that I have and it fits way better then it used too :) so will be wearing that for most of Saturday along with the red top a friend is letting me try on (again so long as it fits ok) Really looking forward to the weekend now, just hope I don't forget my pips and my combadge (have more then one so hopefully not) Looking forward to seeing everyone in there costumes tomorrow, will be bringing my camera (now I have a working charger) so can't wait to take loads of photos (so long as people don't mind of course) LLAP
  11. I remember when there were Heroes guests at an event (excuse spelling) plus Patrick Stewart was there too, that event was manic, as hell, I agree this one shouldn't be half as bad but the events are still very popular so there will still be a fair few people in attendance.. Forgot about the hotdogs, for less then 50p for a small one (last time I went) there very good for the money, I bet the queue is going to be long lol. If in doubt a sandwich always does the trick as it will save you loads, LLAP
  12. My other half and I will be leaving about 6am, usually there are road works the way we come as there always doing some work on the M1, at least it feels like that when we want to go to MK lol (reminds me of London, they only ever seem to be doing work on the lines we want to use on the weekends we need to go to London for something..) Anyway hopefully we should arrive sometime between 7:00-7:30am I usually can't sleep much the night before the event lol, and for me as soon as we get in the car, I feel like the fun has already started. Plus last time I went there was some place to eat that was just outside the stadium on the side we were on, so if we get there a little early and find that there is no queue then we might be able to catch a quick cheap bite to eat (the food inside was not priced that well last time if memory serves me right) think it was a McDonalds or something similar? ___ VQ tickets (remember them they are great) In case you didn't know, there will be someone at the beginning of every guests queue handing out numbered tickets Virtual Queue Tickets (this does not always apply to guests who are not as popular on the day) you basically get given a ticket with a number on for that guest and can come back to get an auto from the guest any time after your number appears on the board near the guest. So if you have number 21 and 1-20 is written then you gotta wait, but once anything over 21 and above is called you can then go and get in the queue for that guest. Once your number is called you can go back any time during the day if you want, to get your auto, (though they will usually take your VQ ticket away from you once you enter the queue, so if you decided you wanted to see that guest later in the day for something else, you would have to get another VQ ticket..) Its great cause even if you get there later in the day and get a number like 100 and there still only up too say 50-60 for that guest then you can go off brows the dealers tables etc and come back just to check if your number has been posted yet. Even if it has been called you can just go wander around the event and come back when ever you want (so long as you don't leave it too long, like near closing time lol) ___ As 1of2 said, you could get there at 6,7 or 8 and find not many people queueing at all, on the other hand you could get there at 7 and find the queue is massive. I just play it safe by getting there at least an hour before the event, and making sure I put the guests in order of who I think might be more popular on the day (those guests top of my list I go and get a VQ ticket from them first) Nothing else I can add other then hope all newbies going have a great time, as I know I will.. LLAP
  13. Well my hubby is a big fan. He won her bra in an auction years ago (before I met him) and she signed it, now its framed and on the wall in our back bedroom / computer room.. I don't ever remember meeting her myself (though I'm sure I did) so might be making the effort to see her over the weekend. Excuse the crappy photos, anyway here is a photo I took of the signed item. My hubby got it framed and put a picture of Chase with it as you can see. LLAP
  14. Forgot to add my Star Trek Enterprise script I have and my hubbies TNG jacket he has, which was one of the ones given to cast members. LLAP
  15. So far these are the ones I'm definitely getting:- Keegan De Lancie Robert Patrick David Blue David Warner Other guests are Marianna Hill - Not a big TOS fan but might be nice to see her (maybe just for my hubbies sake) Chase Masterson - would like to see here again but is it really worth it? No photo-shoots for me, never get them, personally don't see the point, but I can see why others do (each to there own) ___ would love to see more people (no one else going so far has tickled my taste buds) money wise I hope no-one else I want to see gets announced, but with only a week left till the even there is still plenty of time for more guests. LLAP
  16. Each guest will have their own separate queue. Edit: Just to add, unless the format changes. I have never seen a one queue for multiple guests situation at Collectormania/LFCC. That cool thanks, have seen it else where just wondering if it would have happened here, thanks for letting me know. LLAP
  17. Yeah its good that there going to be there at least one of the three days still. I just hope that I don't have to wait in one queue for the two of them as I have already seen John and only want to see Keegan. LLAP
  18. We might go all weekend or just the Saturday not sure yet. My hubby is going to go as a Klingon (not sure if that's for both days yet or just the Saturday) May not be the absolute best there but he sure does a dam good job. Me, I'm trying for a trek uniform, maybe my dress whites not 100% yet, as I lost a little bit of weight and my white jacket does not fit me that well so will have to see if a friend can lend me hers for the weekend (fingers crossed) Also a friend made a red top for someone that does not fit them( I think its a little to big for them, so she said that I could try it on if I wanted, and then if it fitted then I could wear it for one of the days we shall see) Only thing is that sometimes I don't like seeing the guests in costume as they must think that some of us are a little weird don't you think? Edit:- Just remembered my hubby has his tux and mask so he could do ODO again if he wanted. (Have to see what he thinks about that one as well) Sure hope that its not to hot next weekend as he will melt a little in his Klingon costume lol. LLAP
  19. I'm only meeting 5-6 people so far (not counting any other guests that have not yet been announced that I might want to see) Its not many compared to some on here, but considering I have got a lot of the autographs I wanted, already, its actually a lot for me. Last time I went I think I only saw 3 people that was it. LLAP
  20. If the people selling 'Me To You' bears are there, then I might get something (they may be somewhere else that weekend due to cost ) Will be looking out for some cheap blu-rays (usually buy mine from another forum second hand now) Only be buying if cheap enough. Other then that, what ever takes mine or my hubbies fancy that we have the room for. Would really like to get a Dax mug for my hubby as its the last one he needs to have the complete set of Star Trek face mugs. (fingers crossed someone is selling one, its a long shot but I can pray) LLAP
  21. Oooh an ER guest, preferred her in ER, but she is still good in Dr Who too.. Now all we need is Anthony Edwards aka Dr Greene lol LLAP
  22. Nice one thanks, another Stargate autograph to get.. LLAP
  23. Wish my friend Dave Bright would go to this event, he is the closest to a look a like of Matt Smith I have ever seen, would be great to see him up against Karen. Don't collect Dr Who autographs myself but a great guest none the less, the best assistant so far I think (out of the ones who played along side Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and now Matt Smith) Glad too see so many happy people posting. LLAP
  24. Well I went to my first Collectormania with a friend, after that I met a group of like minded people where I live and started attending the events with some of them. I'm 30 at the end of the year and am the youngest of the group. It ranges from 29 right through too over 60 years old. Although some don't attend as much as they used to due to seeing most the guest they wanted, when any of us go we still have a good time.. With or without the group going, I like to go with my hubby (who is 40 in November).. We met through our love of sci-fi, actually it was mainly Star Trek that brought us together (I won't bore you with the story of how I bid on something with someone and later found out it was my now hubby) The few things I have heard from people that have always stuck in my head are:- - I was told not to end up looking back when I'm 75 having regrets about the things I never did or gave up that I shouldn't have. - Also my mum said - So long as you can pay your bills, have a roof over your head, food in the fridge, and maybe some savings in the bank, so long as you are not doing anything illegal or harming anyone else, then spend what money you have left doing what you want with your life, and don't let me or anyone else tell you otherwise.. She is right, as I know she would never go round collecting autographs (my dad certainly wouldn't and thinks its a waist of time and money each to there own) but she understands that everyone is different and has different things they want to do with there lives, which I respect. I'm never going to give up going to conventions, I may go to less (due to not being into many different shows and not having a lot of guests I want to see still) but I won't go cold turkey or anything like that, as I know I would miss going too much. Deep down I keep hoping my kids will find some show (maybe Dr Who if its still on) that there into (when ever I get round to having kids) so I can take them to events like collectormania and LFACC. (who knows hey, we can dream though) LLAP
  25. For me its Rainham Essex (am I the only one from round this area that comes to this even other then my OH), anyway usually its a small 10 minute walk to the station then one train all the way to the event :) LLAP
