  1. I probably won't be going as LA is quite a long way away but I'd be interested in knowing when someone has a moment if there will be an autograph pre-order service as there is with some events where you can get an auto through the post?
  2. If ED was announced, I'd buy a diamond pass right now. I have my credit card all ready. And any Buffy/Angel guests would be a draw for me as well.
  3. Great news, I know we have our own convention, but its still great to see some Trek guests at other events.
  4. Nice photos! I made a deliberate decision to do autographs not photoshoots this year, as I wanted to go to a lot of talks and there isn't time to do everything, but I'll have to make time for a few next year (don't know about anyone else but I'm already practically counting the days!).
  5. For my part, anyone from the following are likely to convince me to part with my cash Star Trek Stargate SG-1 Babylon 5 Gotham Farscape Buffy/Angel/Firefly Charmed Plus any major action film stars.
  6. Destination Star Trek TOS: Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koening TNG: Gates McFadden DS9: Terry Farrell, Nicole deBoer, Nana Visitor, Rene Auberjonis, Casey Biggs, Chase Masterson VOY: Jeri Ryan, Martha Hackett, Alice Krige Other Events James Masters, Juliet Landau, Brian Thompson, Mark Metcalf, Andrew J Ferchland, Ksenia Solo
  7. For what its worth, Richard Dean Anderson would be a draw for me as well, though more because of Stargate. Anyone from SG1 actually. I just watched Home Alone 1 and 2 again this past weekend, I always watch them this time of year, probably my favorite comedies of all time. Macaulay Culkin would be an interesting guest.
  8. Try the Eurostar, I believe you can now go direct from Amsterdam to London, then you just need to get the train up to Birmingham, which I have a feeling is even from the same station.
  9. I met Chase Masterson at DST this weekend, she's very approachable and chatty. It almost seems selfish when we have our own Star Trek event, but one or two Trek guests would be a draw for a lot of people I think. How about Robert Picardo, there's one for Stargate fans as well as Trek.
  10. Well I wasn't aware before of Patrick Stewart's new show, but apparently that was already in the public domain (BTW I'd be very grateful for any info on which if any streaming services will be carrying it).
  11. Pros: First convention (not just Trek but full stop) I've ever attended and probably one of the most amazing weekends of my life. I think what made it so great was everyone working there was a fan, so all the crew shared the enthusiasm for Star Trek that we all feel. Everyone was really helpful, the guests were lively and (mostly) very friendly and approachable. I am rather socially awkward and this made it much easier for me. Autograph queues were well managed and I got most of the guests I really wanted(I was a commander so didn't have to VQ, so can't comment on that aspect). Really enjoyed the talks. Also pleased that there was a balance of guests from different shows and I hope this continues - Discovery clearly has its fans but wouldn't want to see it become Destination: Discovery to the exclusion of other Treks. Cons: Really not many, at least to do with the event itself (the NEC get a black mark for the repeated bag checks on Friday though. Goodness, four times before I got in). A couple of minor points though, really suggestions for next time more than anything. Spent quite a while queueing for autograph tokens, and with no cashpoints at the NEC I'd imagine many people did. It should really be possible to buy them online in advance and maybe then get them in your pack when you register? Would save everyone a lot of time. Secondly, for the same reason, have more card machines at the official merchanise table. Only other thing I'd say is if Nana Visitor and Rene Auberjonis come back another year and do a talk, give them a larger stage! My word that one was packed! But I had a great time, thanks to everyone involved.
  12. Okay so after getting back from a great 3 days (and having a good night's sleep), I'm keen to hear about what autographs and shoots everyone got. Personally, I made a decision in advance to focus on autographs this time rather than photos (can't do everything in 3 days!). So I got Chase Masterston Jeri Ryan Terry Farrell Nicole deBoer Nana Visitor Gates McFadden Rene Auberjonis Casey Biggs Martha Hackett Nichelle Nichols Walter Koening Alice Krige I did pretty well getting the ones I was after. Shame Kate Mulgrew had to take off early, maybe next time. What about everyone else?
  13. I also had Nichelle as one of my allocated autographs. It looked a bit dodgy looking at the queue Sunday afternoon especially as I was keen to go to the Life on the Promenade talk. But just after the talk the queue had gone down and I managed to get in without a long wait. So I was lucky I guess, just the right time.
  14. I attended all three days, and this was the first time I've been to any kind of convention. I'd considered going both previous times and didn't end up doing so which I regretted. And I'm so glad I went this time, it was the most fun I'd had in ages. I think I did well to mainly attend talks on Saturday when it was busier and get most of my autographs on Sunday when it was less busy and I got most of the guests I was after without having to queue for long, several I went pretty much straight up which was brilliant. Thanks to all the crew and all the guests for a very memorable weekend.
  15. Yes I was pleased to see the photos were only £3 (and dropping as the event went on, I got some Sunday afternoon for £1!). I had heard they were as much as £10 so that was a nice suprise. Was pleased I was able to get one of Walter Keoning as Bester.
  16. Interesting indeed. Though I reckon they've missed a trick not unveiling it at this year's event and taken bookings then and there while folks are at their most excited!
  17. But just to be clear, items to get signed do not have to be photos right? It could be any licensed item? For instance, I have a copy of the book The Lives of Dax that I was considering asking Terry Farrell to sign. Is that sort of thing okay?
  18. Am I right in thinking there is a way to pay for autographs by card, by buying tokens or something?
  19. Y'know I'm really starting to look forward to this! I'm chronically indecisive, and ended up not going to the previous two DSTs becaus I couldn't make up my mind what package to get and such. This time the DS9 theme was enough to make me get myself the commander package (DS9's my favourite even if that is near heresy to some). Really excited about the talks, that's probably the main draw for me and what's incuded in the package is pretty much perfect. I'll probably also get tickets for "Life on the Promenade" and quite possibly "There's Coffee in that Nebula" (DS9 may be my favourite show but Janeway's probably my favourite captain!) Some interesting free talks on the schedule too. The Cardassians, Securing DS9, and more to come by the looks of the "TBC"s. Good stuff.
  20. Well I live in Bournemouth so its not going to take too much to entice me, but I second anyone from Buffy/Angel. Eliza Dushku would be amazing!
