  1. To reiterate what most are saying, get in as early as possible, and grab a VQ as quickly as possible. The staff are usually very visible and it's clear who is giving out tickets to whom. One alternative you may consider if you were wanting a 100% guarantee of meeting them is to book a photo-op instead. You won't get an autograph, or much of a chat, but you will definitely get to meet the actor. Last year at LFCC I managed to meet all the modern day Doctor Whos by booking photos, while my friend who wanted their Autos ended up seeing none of them. Granted though, they were all Diamond guests, so most never got to the VQ anyway.
  2. Nice! Very Nice! He's been absolutely fantastic in Discovery, quickly becoming one of my fave Captains!
  3. It's one of those things though, isn't it? Is it a first time signer in the vein of Christopher Eccleston where it's someone big who's never done a con? Or is it that it's their first time signing because they were "Red Shirt In Back Ground #3" and appeared for 10 seconds? Just teasing, of course, I'm sure whoever it is it'll be great!
  4. Cool, that kind of makes up my mind, skip the Diamond Pass, see if I can get him on the day! Thanks guys, leaves some money for other guests!
  5. Thanks so much for this! Didn't realise quite how close (and cheap!) it is to stay in Birmingham city centre! Also a tip from someone who's coming from Glasgow - an advance ticket to Birmingham is only £25 one way at the moment!
  6. When you say that, do you mean he won't even sign something like, "To <Insert Name Here>"? Also, is he one of these guys who just signs as many as possible? In away it would be nice as I probably then could get away not getting a Diamond Pass for him and just arrive early, and I wouldn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on a DP if I didn't even get a look from him
  7. The Gold passes are very useful for a more relaxed, leisurely weekend, with a lot less waiting around. Two pieces of advice, as someone who has bought the Gold Pass before: If you're wanting to get an autograph from a Diamond guest and you haven't purchased their Diamond pass, arrive and queue early! Because even with a Gold Pass, Diamond guests require VQ tickets if you don't have their diamond pass, and these are given out on a first come, first served basis. While the Gold Queue is allowed in 5 minutes early, the Gold entrance is on the other side of the hall from the autograph section, and also the Gold queue can be slow to get in if you're at the back of it. Have even had it where they forgot to let the Gold passes in early! A Gold Pass still does not guarantee you will get an autograph from a Diamond Guest unless you have purchased their Diamond pass! Cannot emphasise this enough. Some guests might never get beyond the Diamond Pass queues they have, or they may only get a short way into the VQ line. For example, Tom Baker was incredibly popular, but only there for a short while and for only one day due to his health. Only Diamond Passes ended up seeing him, as far as I remember. It doesn't happen very often, but CAN happen. Please note, this does not apply to photographs with Diamond guests! When you purchase a photograph ticket on the website, you're guaranteed to get it, so no need to panic, and the golds also get to join the queue right after the diamonds, so a lot less waiting around. The Gold pass is really useful if you're wanting a lot of photographs, and want a whole lot less waiting around!
  8. Some people are insane though! Not me! I'll only be getting 29 photos! That's a bit of a relief to hear. Will probably still end up getting the Commander package anyway, but good to know that even if the money doesn't work out and can only get the 3 day pass, have a chance to meet most people!
  9. I was exaggerating a little, I'm not looking for an Autograph from everyone, but definitely would like some from the more popular guests. What's bringing this question up for me is my experiences with previous LFCCs. For the popular guests even if you managed to get a VQ ticket, sometimes they never got to them. Or you were way too high and they never got to your number. Understandable, of course, but just wondering if that same sort of thing happens at this convention?
  10. So, as someone who's never been to Destination Star Trek before, looking for some advice from people who have gone there to get autographs! I'm wondering what waiting times are like for the guests? In terms of, if I don't mind waiting in queues a lot, would I most likely be able to see most of the guests with only a basic three day pass? Mainly what I have in mind is the Commander Package that gives you fast queuing - is it the case that it would mainly save a lot of time, as well as give you the cool extras, or is having it the only way I would be able to see everyone in the three days?
  11. I've got the boiler and radiators on full, and got really tiny pictures of the guests on my screen, just to replicate the feeling of being in the Autograph hall. But in all seriousness, its a testament to the show that I already miss it and can't wait until next year already! When are we getting some of next year's guests announced? It's only 364 days to go!
  12. David Tennant being game for signing this and having a laugh with it after I explained to him, since I never got an Auto off Matt, and I never got a photo from him, I really wanted a compromise....
  13. Well come on, you gotta show us the shirt!
  14. I think the argument isn't that they shouldn't get what they pay for, but rather that as an event based around fans meeting the people who helped bring to life characters they love, maybe there should be priority placed on making the event as fan friendly as possible. After all there is a finite number of autographs people can get through. If a dealer who may not even give a damn about the people and things that are getting signed gets 30 autographs that means potentially 29 fans who would absolutely love the chance to get one auto aren't going to get anything. I'm sure it's something the actors don't love either. Not that I'm saying dealers and that should be not allowed or anything. Just I can understand peoples frustration, and why autos should be limited to 5 across the board.
  15. So many cool pictures so far - got to say had a wicked weekend, everyone was up for a good time! Looking forwar to getting home and uploading some pics of my own!
