  1. Michael Caine perhaps? I never thought his old mate Terence Stamp would have done a con, perhaps he's told him they aren't so bad after all? Failing that, how about Nicolas Cage or Kevin Costner? Would they qualify? Apart from Harrison Ford, some of the legendary guesses like Julie Andrews, Maggie Smith etc would be brilliant.
  2. Showmasters with some nice thinking outside the box there, great stuff. Wish I'd met Tim McInnerny a couple of years back now!
  3. Attended this event today for the first time, having intended to in the past as it is close to my place of work. Glad I did, meeting Sian Phillips and Freddie Jones, but also picked up a couple of fairly rare old DVDs from the stalls. A nice relaxed vibe in a good venue with most attendees being interested in the stalls, but a very good balance of interesting stalls and guests. Would recommend as an ideal event for con goers who have a particular interest in more vintage DVDs and merchandise and may even hire my own table in future, some decluttering is required!
  4. Excellent! Don't mean to be presumptuous but I hope we can we have a joint photo with Kristian Nairn please?!
  5. Great guest for cricket fans (looks like I'm the only one)! Well done SM, seems like a while since we had Michael Vaughan and Matthew Hoggard at Milton Keynes.
  6. great guest, a two time Oscar nominee no less, for Dances With Wolves and the little seen, but decent, Passion Fish. Really like it when SM pull these unexpected ones out of the bag.
  7. RIP to a proper cult actor, recently had a great little cameo in Twin Peaks and his new film Lucky looks like it will be well worth a watch. And the cast of Alien continue to pass away in the order they did in the film...
  8. Lovely guy, very glad to have met him on a couple of occasions and I hope he enjoys his retirement from the convention scene.
  9. Brad Dourif, Chris Sarandon, Burt Reynolds (of previous guests who perhaps could be persuaded to return one more time) Yaphet Kotto Any major Game of Thrones star who hasn't yet attended a Showmasters event, plus Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie and John Bradley who I missed in 2011-12 as I hadn't started watching Thrones by that stage!
  10. Would be great if SM could get some returning guests back from some of their much earlier events, particularly Brad Dourif, Chris Sarandon and even Burt Reynolds!
  11. Very sad news, and most unexpected. I didn't meet him personally at LFCC but a friend of mine got my TCM DVD sleeve signed, and from what I observed at the event he was giving time to anyone who wanted to ask him questions. With TCM and his other credits he certainly left his mark on the film world, RIP.
  12. I have also snapped up a ticket for Venus In Fur in November. I normally go to the West End a few times a year anyway but after meeting Natalie this was a no brainer! She gave it a good enough plug in her talk...
  13. Thanks for posting, always enjoy reading this annual review. No grouchos this year for me either - which was nice
  14. I'm quite pleased with the photo wallets and would be happy to see them back next year - the ideal storage solution for last year's Famke Janssen photo, and any others that didn't come out as hoped for.
  15. I echo Barca's earlier point about the use of microphones at the busiest photoshoots. I'm sure this would be a help to crew members and they wouldn't blow your head off as was rightly suggested when I raised an earlier point about loudhailers. My final suggestion would be that perhaps the signs/boards at autograph queues could be a fraction larger, with clearer markings - being short-sighted I have to get pretty close to see the numbers and hence get in everyone else's way of course.
  16. Alyson was very pleasant indeed but her husband was even better! Much more of a conversationalist. Great couple and it was good to get both their sigs on my Buffy Season 3 DVD - the best Buffy season. Or maybe season two is actually...must be due a re-watch.
  17. It's heartening to see a distinguished guest like Terence saw plenty of discerning fans on Saturday - he must have been pleased to sign copies of 'Billy Budd' and 'The Collector'. I got him to sign my blu-ray of 'Far From the Madding Crowd', not a personal favourite of his but it's an iconic film and part nonetheless. Thanks so much to Showmasters for bringing him along (and John Cleese), a real coup and a treat for older con goers like myself. The icing on the cake was that he was such a nice man, warm and friendly and from what I could see interested in everyone who came to see him.
  18. Yes, she was exceptionally friendly. Had a good chat with her about both Galaxy Quest and The Artist. Took a genuine interest in everyone who met her from what I could see, very personable. I don't think anyone left her queue without a posed photo either!
  19. I expect this has been raised before but I do think some if not all of the crew at photo shoots would benefit from a loud hailer or megaphone, just for those crazy shoots where all of us are gathered round like lemmings at a cliff edge waiting for our batch numbers etc to be called out. And it would certainly preserve their voices a bit better! For example, I'm sure the crew member at Conleth Hill's shoot on Saturday lunchtime could have benefited from one - it took quite a while to sort out where everyone should be standing and she had to keep walking up and down the line at times just to get everyone in the right place. Despite this the lines seemed to be managed pretty well in my experience, the youngish chap with the beard at Photo area B was particularly good I thought. But I bet he's got laryngitis now...
  20. I wasn't too unhappy with the gold pass goody bag this year - quite chuffed with my pen and book of post-it notes! Certainly better than my previous two at LFCC since I went Gold for the first time in summer 2015. However, I can't help thinking it would be a good idea and nice gesture if Showmasters could include their £5 programme with the goody bag in future - rather than a couple of trolls for example.
  21. I was really impressed with Benedict. Managed to sneak in and see him at 9.15 on Saturday morning where he was already signing away like a man possessed! For a production line meet this really didn't feel as rushed as other experiences I've had in the past, he maintained eye contact, and I managed to get a little word from him about his upcoming film 'The Current War'. He is also very careful with his signature - always a bonus! Very welcoming at his photoshoot later on and it's great that he has come to this event when his career seems to be at its peak. A gentleman.
  22. I echo all the positive comments here. I was surprised how interactive Natalie was at the autograph table, managing to touch on 3 of her credits briefly and she even asked a question or two of her own. Compared to someone like Hayley Atwell in 2015 (who I consider to be an actress of similar stature) she was pure sweetness and light. Gave an excellent talk on Sunday as well, poised and articulate. A class act and I hope she continues to do really well.
  23. Hello I'm Mike, first time poster although I've been visiting Showmasters events since 2011, both LFCC and Collectormania on a yearly basis. Looking forward to this year's LFCC and making a positive contribution (when required ) to this forum. Best to all.
