  1. In reference to your Bournemouth comment, OP, put it this way - I went to London for the first time and had nothing to compare it to. When I went to Bournemouth (since it's much closer to me) it was genuinely such a relaxing day in comparison! Don't underestimate London - pretty much any guest is going to have some demand but to be honest if you're pretty set on meeting them I would go straight to them early as possible just to at least assess the situation! Hope that helps :)
  2. I'm planning on meeting RVD for sure (him and Edge will be my first ever autographs as I have always done photoshoots instead) but I haven't been to a lot of Con's so far, and I can't deny being slightly nervous about it! :)
  3. Yeah since the slight redesign it seems that the layering of the "Forum" and "Buy Tickets" pages means that they are un-clickable. Although as I type this, it's been fixed! (Using a PC, FYI)
  4. That's the nature of the beast unfortunately, these bigger stars are going to be extremely expensive and if the overall flow of cash is lower on the Friday than Saturday (highly likely as Saturday is considered the "main" day) then it may not be financially viable to book the star for every day. Sometimes I wonder if Showmasters will ever truly be seen to do what's right in everyone's eyes. They are doing a fantastic job this year in booking plenty of big guests which (in my opinion) appeal to a huge range of people.
  5. There is definitely a divide in opinion, I think for me personally the actual act of getting an autograph isn't the important, it's more so the (hopeful) interaction with the guests, I just never know what to do with prints or photos when I get them home whereas already having a DVD here just means they're signing something I own rather than my obtaining a new item that's signed.
  6. Thanks everyone I expect I won't take a t-shirt as per the general advice here, DVD sleeve is definitely the way forward! I'm sure it'll go down fine, and if not I can always fall back on the 10x8s there anyway! :)
  7. Hey! Sorry if this has already been covered, when it comes to autographs we all know that if you want to actually say something to the guest a photoshoot isn't a great option, therefore we have to go for autographs. Tricky bit here is that you may not necessarily want a signed photo or may not like the photos, what is the typical policy on taking a dvd sleeve or tee shirt to get signed instead? Is it different per guest? If you're interested, I'm looking at Edge, RVD and JDF!
  8. Aw damn, how come you had a bad experience? I missed him last year (my first con) and so this year I am definitely making sure I get the booking done!
  9. Yeah but you've added all the new people but you haven't taken down any of the cancelled people? Seems a bit naughty
  10. It's quite a walk, personally I can walk it in about 30 minutes roughly, there are Yellow buses outside the station all day long and taxis park there too! Most public transport in Bournemouth is canary yellow coloured
  11. They base it on how many tickets they have sold for this already, which like most other things at this event is very low so far, I can't make my mind up as to whether or not "walk in" people on the day are going to be lots or not...
  12. This is just disappointing As a brand new Showmasters' customer having only just started on our first event with LFCC, we booked an entire weekend's hotels and travel (of which we got non-refundable early bird deals for getting them booked early so we can't get refunds) at the cost of hundreds of pounds with a hotel that is right next to the Olympia where we no longer need to be anywhere near that weekend now. This isn't worth the hassle unfortunately, we can't afford to take spontaneous trips to London (over 3 hours on the train) and whether it was avoidable or not the advertised event was a confirmed location that mentioned nothing about "may or may not be hosted at the Olympia" and so you take it as word and trust the organiser and book ahead to ensure you get a place there... but to move it miles away (£60 per day on the train plus hours each way of extra travel) and as only our second event it can't be said that "you should know what these events are like" as we're so new to this. To get to Brighton that weekend in time to queue for opening we'd have the leave London at about 6:30am (and miss the pre-paid "breakfast" part of the hotel booking) and spend as much of the day travelling as we would spend actually at the con. It's unfair for those aggresively defending Showmasters saying "what's the big deal" as they are clearly people who haven't lost anything...
  13. At LFCC it felt like practically all of them had signs up saying "No posed photos" on saying that it depends, a lot of the guests made exceptions for like small children, but as far as I remember all the Game of Thrones stars had the signs and a lot of the popular ones!
  14. How much are your photoshoots going to be, £10, £15, £25 or £95 ? Seriously though fair play for the weekend, did a great job as did everyone in the crew
  15. It may be my high level of over-organisation, but this was my first ever showmasters comicon ever, and I only attended Sunday and found all the levels throughout the day quite easily... It would've been difficult to not notice the entire Game of Thrones cast, all the wrestlers and many major guests were no where else to be found!
  16. This weekend was my wife and I's first ever experience of a Showmasters' London Comicon (been to one other comicon previously but completely different) and we're still talking about it today with the same excitement as when we first arrived! Hopefully I can provide an accurate account of what it's like to be a first timer at this type of event! We only had the opportunity to go on the Sunday so in preparation for the event we had planned out everything in advanced, itinerary and times all ready to go, we had 2 photoshoots each but my two unfortunately were cancelled previous to the event (I really hope Kurt Angle is free another time!) so I booked two more and still looked forward to my first ever photoshoot(s) as the day loomed! We arrived at the venue and couldn't believe the size of the queue area that started like halfway down the road but it didn't change our anticipation at all! Everyone was friendly and no one pushed or was rude in the process. As soon as we got inside the door we headed straight upstairs for my wife's Iain Glen shoot (it wasn't upstairs - we got the wrong area) and back down again to find the right area. I waited for my wife to exit the shoot and smiled repeatedly as people (mainly females...) came out of the exit squealing in happiness from meeting Jorah the Explorer, when she did come out she was absolutely ecstatic, and we headed to the side of the room to sit for a few minutes (I saw Robert Englund sneak past and I spotted him straight away presumably heading to a shoot and did a "Sssh" gesture towards me so I didn't give him away). We watched "the world go by" for about 30 minutes just seeing everyone happily racing around and all the amazing cosplay efforts on display was in itself an experience, presumably synonymous with showmasters' events like these. We wandered around for an hour or so checking out where we would need to be for shoots later in the day and seeing who was about doing signings, taking in all the sights so to speak, I found myself weirdly recognising people from comicon culture such as Facebook pages where people professionally collect autographs and I instantly recognised the young lady who showed Tom Felton around Comicon dressed as Bellatrix on the BBC3 documentary he did earlier this year! (My wife thinks this is a weird skill to remember faces so well)! Notably, everyone seems to be so friendly and polite and looking around at all the people moving about talking to each other or yelling out a cosplay character they recognised (Chris Pratt and balloony dinosaur, the massive dude in the big robot kinda outfit - really sorry I don't know the character, Darth Vader meeting Groot, or the numerous star wars characters and Disney/other princesses)! The atmosphere was great and a huge credit to the event as I thought people would be a bit more stressed trying to get around. We headed to the very cool and breezy Super Stage for the wrestling talk which was charming, all four wrestlers were very open and frank in their answers and commented very accurately about the industry today which I could tell was pleasing for those that understood the comments in the hall. I did feel at once point really guilty though, as one of them pointed out (I really cannot remember which one) they were all the way up on the 3rd floor and insinuated that they hadn't had many visitors, which I thought was a bit unfair as they are on average 70 years old and had to get down three flights of stairs and back up before and after the talk and to think they got few autographs or photos I thought was a real shame. It made me want to go and buy an autograph ticket there and then but I was gutted to have run out of time - I hope we still get these kinds of guests in the future regardless! Shortly after me and my wife had separate shoots (her Catherine Tate, and myself Steve Cardenas in Costume) which seemed to go quite smoothly, the guys running Photo Shoot A were really humorous and kept their cool despite the madness of that area and the poor guy Luke losing his voice, it was unfair to hear people yelling "We can't hear you". I headed over to Steve Cardenas costume shoot which was well handled by a chap at Photo Shoot E who got everyone queueing as they should have in about 5 minutes flat. I knew of Steve from the MMPR Movie and the series previous to that, although I was slightly disappointed that although his photo on the comicon website showed him in his red gear, his costume was in fact blue zeo rangers which I didn't really have any awareness of or link with at all which was a bit of a shame but I didn't let on, met him and he seemed a very nice guy, photo was good and was generally pretty happy! I headed back to Photo Area A to meet Rose Leslie who I will shamefully admit was my "replacement" shoot for Kurt Angle and I can't believe I didn't pick it in the first place, she was incredibly sweet and talkative to everyone as I noticed in the queue waiting, I heard someone in front tell her it was their birthday and she was super reactive about it, although the shoot was running over a bit you could tell that she didn't give a damn and she was determined to have an interaction with everyone, when it was my turn I suddenly felt quite nervous, I approached and said "Hey! It's so nice to meet you, I'm Adam" and she replied "Hi Adam, I'm Rose!" with the biggest smile in the world, photo went well and I left feeling super happy - she was just so lovely! Our final stop was the Power Rangers talk back over at the Super Stage, Jason David Frank pretty much led the proceedings which my wife did say she thought was a bit egotistical but to be honest I think it made a change rather than the host running the show, JDF was after all the best qualified to comment on most things and the involvement of his series he was filming for made a slightly mad series of events but nonetheless cool! We headed downstairs into the merchandise floor as it was much quieter by 5pm, had a brief look around and managed to make our way to the exit - the whole day was really a great experience, there were definitely many improvements possible but as a first time experience I can't really fault it too much, it was extremely hot though and we struggled to find the energy to get around unless we were heading anywhere specific, but this may have been due to having travelled all around London the day before and being super tired! Anyway thanks to all the crew and workers at the event plus all the comicon-goers that really clearly make the event what it is! See you all in November
  17. Rose was an absolute star, this was my first showmasters comicon and I hadn't ever had a photo op with anyone before and she was just so lovely and friendly to everyone! Left with a big smile on my face :) I would've tried to suppress my happiness a little as though to avoid the wife's reaction but she was still reeling from meeting Iain Glen so I guess we're even haha!
  18. Just noticed on the sales page for photoshoots that Jason David Frank is sold out at Batch 2, and there is no Batch 3 for Sunday. After Kurt Angle cancelled I was going to use the money to go over to a JDF shoot but he has an entire hour on the schedule for just 2 batches which seems odd, is there in reality tickets available for photo shoots or am I missing something?
  19. I can't find any reference to "Wrestling" anywhere, there is a section on sunday at around 1pm which says "Wrestling" is this some actual wrestling and in which case who is involved? Or is it a panel of some sort? (in which case, who is involved?) Sorry if I have missed this somewhere
  20. This is a situation that I find only too painful, I know it's a little off topic (although Rey and Kurt Angle count technically) but whenever I try and buy tickets to go and see WWE Raw Live in London each year every single good seat is bought up on day 1 of the sale and then onto eBay they go for like £500 so in this case a real and genuine fan who has never been able to go and see it in 15 years can't enjoy the show because someone who doesn't care at all bought them all to make profit! I do think it needs to be addressed but I would also say that having name and address on the tickets is tricky because it can punish genuine fans who may be unable to make it whereby perhaps their friends and family can make it - in this case if the buyer was ill then you risk upsetting a whole host of people who they bought for!
  21. Ah thanks, I didn't see it at the bottom of that thread!
  22. I don't know if I have missed anything on the forum about this, and hopefully I won't fall foul of the rules for posting, however... Kurt Angle just publicly announced he is undergoing neck surgery and will be "out of action" for over a month... presumably he won't be able to fly to the UK so is there any indication of a cancellation at this point? He's one of my photoshoots ): Cheers
