  1. What Luke said ... (Imagine people having to leave their precious computers, tablets and phones behind while they're evacuated waiting for a technician to have a look at their problem. Not nice. Noooooot niiiiice.)
  2. Might well have been, I've seen so many faces over the weekend, bear with my that I can't associate them with any forum names
  3. This is a fine line I walk here I guess but I understand the sentiment that it doesn't come off as professional as it could. Don't punch me for that, guys, please The official announcements usually look fine, though.
  4. I didn't wanna say anything on the matter not to come off as a renitent grammar nazi but yes, I second this ... *runs and hides*
  5. Well, of course. But they're also a company charging for products and services. So while they have a legal right to do what they like, one would hope that they would allow criticism to stand publicly and respond to it. This would be the proper way to do it, I dare say. Of course we are talking happenstances that can be singled out, people that haven't figured out they would be rushed (really, with a guest like MJF you expect to talk for 30mins?), people that have never been to a convention before... The list is endless. What I am saying is, As soon as something is voiced, the person voicing it wants to be treated seriously. Why else would this person take time to speak up and report what has happened to him / her. It's always an effort to give feedback, no matter if it's positive or negative. I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and I like to apply positive intent to whatever they've said. It looks like some problems weren't handled too well on the day and this is something I am sure Jason & Co. will address. They will have the bigger picture as I am sure they see all hidden content as well. HOWEVER, I would have much appreciated nothing to be hidden - unless it being a violation of forum rules. Just general concern or even an obvious rant - come on, people are let down from something that has happened to them. There is really no need to hide this content. I'd rather you see reply to the postings with a reasonable suggestion as to fixing the mistakes that were made. (I concur, there are people that have had too high of an expectation throughout the weekend and people that indeed felt the need to point out how incredibly important they were when in reality they really weren't but there kinds of douchebags will be everywhere, I tend to just ignore them. If they get too much, I'll speak up)
  6. I've suggested that as this is a problem solver in a venue as widespread as this. SDCC do this as well, works sheer miracles. They had several access points, several of those designated for disabled attendees, each of them functioned as a lost and found as well.
  7. I only have 2005 to compare to when everything was a lot smaller but then I have the immediate comparison to SDCC which I attended a week earlier. I agree, as a con veteran (jeeeeeeeez) I got everything done but it was a real struggle. So much so, I fell sick the second I stepped out of my plane. I even have to get a sick note now -.- @QS nah, not US, happy German. Just happily attending SDCC for the first time and spending too much money on a nonstop flight, hotel and food ^^
  8. This is my delirious state, I'll go and edit, jet lag is still hard on me. And yes, it might be the one you think it was ;-) and to be fairly honest ... I do not miss it and I do not spent money there :-)
  9. I was in the Zone 2 signing area when that happened. I was aware there was an announcement, but I couldn't understand a single word of it. Most people didn't even seem to notice that there had been one. Here is the thing, if this had been a security announcement to leave the building for some reason, NO ONE would have paid attention, I could not make out what it said. In case of an emergency this can have fatal consequences. Maybe that's a naive way of thinking, but I was thinking a large center like Olympia has an alarm system that would go off in case of an emergency. Some incredbily annoyingly loud beeping that can't possibly be overheard. Trust me on this one, there will still be people that need to be forced outside. I am a trained Fire Marshall with my company and we usually evacuate the store within 30-45 seconds, no biggie, but we still have people that will be reluctant to go / leave no matter what.
  10. I feel particularly sad about how differently some things were handled - I understand that you will be rushed into a photo shoot and out of it. I understand that you're dependent on the customer's cooperation during the entire thing - there were some things I witnessed where people got support and i.e. had a photo taken again (me, with rose i.e.) and then there were situations in which they just got a "no" and were shoved on. Why? There was someone that pointed out that the guest looked not to flattering in one of the pictures and asked to retake it as this wasn't fair to the guest as well. I saw the picture, the person was absolutely right. It took a couple of minutes and an annoyed pit boss that finally barked "fine" until this was resolved. Why? And if I had problems with a pit boss, there is no one else I can turn to, is there? The next person above that is Jason - that would have been a little much, would it?

  12. Cheers! Its nearly back, got the post con lurgy trying to creep in too, so battling that at the same time. I could bellow again if I needed to though You deserved so much more than the pat on the back on Sunday, man! I haven't even shouted during the weekend and my voice is gone, throat infected and all. It feels like I had been the person shouting at photo A all weekend ^^
  13. Yeah, as I've been banned in another forum from a different organiser I know what you're saying and where you're coming from. All this time just wanting to give honest feedback on a weekend I paid a lot of money for. I had flights, a hotel, I think a total of 14 photo shoots and one autograph to pay. I paid for food, my Oyster card and I was already broke from San Diego comic con ^^ - and even though I try and make the most of things and be super organised, I felt as if there were sooooo many things that would have been better if done in a different way. Some of the things should have been thought about before the event even started, I.e. When setting it up.
  14. Of course they can but this will put people off :-( And despite attracting more people with bigger guests and bigger venues, it's really not in any way a form of customer care - you will want to have returning customers because these ones are the foundation of what you're seeking to achieve in the years to come. It's a sad truth that a lot of companies (and yes, Showmasters is a company and yes, they want to earn money which I understand) have forgotten. Loyal customers are far more important than anything else. You see, when you get criticism it's not because people wanna be negative towards you or wanna blame you for everything. Some write when they're still mad or sad about something that happened to them and are overly emotional during the process of expressing their issues. Some wait for the dust to settle and then comment. I think all of us have in common that we WANT to improve the event - together with you. There have been so many changes from Saturday to Sunday that were clearly (!) based on the feedback from customers, guests and volunteers alike - I just don't see the difference between feedback on the day and feedback on the forum. And regarding photo shoots that cost 85,- or 95,- to go wrong ... That's a lot of money for a fan, especially if they felt they were being rushed. Do not take that too lightly here, because those 85,- or 95,- is what helped you to get the top names to last weekends LFCC. @QS I know he will and I appreciate it. I just don't want you guys to think that whatever is commented on is just to go like "he ripped us off" or "poorly organised" etc. - there is honest feedback we want to provide you guys with in order to have an even better event next year
  15. ... I don't know for certain if this is true, so bear with me and feel free to correct me anytime .. but is there a problem with criticism around here? Whoever is posting their comments here - and I've read a lot on here as I am in a delirious state of jet lag and a cold (ugh!) and can't sleep anyway - has done so in what I concern quite a polite and constructive manner. To me, there is no need to ban someone from posting on here. There is no need for any of that because in cases where people are not happy with the result of something they PAID for, they will want to voice their concern and will want to ask for other people's opinion just to see if they're overacting (!) - Please refrain from banning / blocking people on here just because they have had an experience they call negative. They rightfully expect a reaction and it's not curteous or intelligent to ban them. This will just cause them to spread the word. Trust me ;-) If something negative is indeed associated with Showmasters, Showmasters (or basically Jason) can go ahead and make it right most publically so that it's easy to see that you guys actually care. As I don't know if indeed people have been banned, feel free to correct me that you haven't done so or don't intend to. Also please, this is constructive criticism as I do not respect banning just because it's an attempt to cover up things. There are more positive and constructive ways to deal with things that went wrong. As someone with "30 years of experience combined" should be aware of. P.S. Don't sue me. P.P.S. I got a reshoot with Rose because I had my eyes closed and was treated curteously throughout the weekend. P.P.P.S. I would have no issue with volunteering a busy photo ops as I am used to people being demanding ^^
  16. I think they do owe you an apology for this picture. This is all kinds or ridiculous especially given the circumstances and the lack of willingness to re-shoot. Jason, seriously, that one is on you. Let's see what you can come up with here...
  17. I thought she was more her usual self on Saturday. She just came from America and if I am suffering from a jet lag (LA - Germany) a week (!) later I can relate to how she must have been feeling. So I don't blame her. She commented on my SDCC Marvel Shirt for Agent Carter at my first shoot on Saturday and I thanked her for stopping by at SDCC's NerdHQ when I got her auto. She smiled and said "that panel was a lot of fun, wasn't it?"
  18. Don't twist what I said. If you overhear and see people acting like douches, it's easy to spot them. I can spot these people easily as there is some vibe they send off. Something I catch and I am like "excuse me, but who are you to claim you get priority". There is also the difference between "ask" and "demand" - that goes for everyone as well!
  19. Perhaps its just the time for security to be a tad firmer. At SDCC its known that if you misbehave/queue before you're meant to you run the risk of your badge being removed and they're not shy about doing it. That's what I tentatively suggested. I'd appreciate it as well. If you're not sticking to the rules then you ought to have a fair warning and then you'll have to deal with the consequences. And not blame it on others. People will still blame SM ... People mostly blame the wrong people ;-)
  20. I don't think its people who fake something. It's more like those people that go ahead and have the attitude showing, "here, see, I get sh*** for free and there is nothing you can do about it because if you say something you're discriminating me." I've seen this on multiple occasions where conventions or other fan meetings were concerned, set visits etc. People can be genuine or they won't be genuine. It's easy to see who is and who isn't and this does not require a disability I'm glad there is a special assistance for you guys, less queuing, help with chairs etc. I don't know if this is already in place but would it not be helpful to have someone coordinate disabled guests of those events?
