Brilliant idea. "Vatican cameos", boys and girls. "Vatican cameos".
-
Never mind - we're all heading to the same place so meeting up shouldn't be a problem!
-
Aha! Mine is the one just west of the main entrance, which might be different - not sure.
-
Fabulous thought for a Friday night!
-
I have far too many things I want to say to him, in the very short time I'll have over one auto and one photo!
-
I was thinking of getting everyone to sign a book, too, but I'd really like something signed by Benedict that I can put up in my office (which is a bit of a Sherlock shrine as it's the only room in the house that I don't have to share with my long-suffering and very indulgent husband!) - but will I regret that his auto is missing from the book? Decisions, decisions...
-
No, a bit more than six inches, though my husband has just compared me, unfavourably, with a garden gnome in the supermarket.
-
I really meant that we'd have to work out 'so who looks like they might use X as their avatar'! Mine really is me, so that shouldn't be much of a challenge, unless you're expecting me to be really tiny.
-
Stop! That thing creeps me out sooo much! I can imagine the feel of its skin, and it makes me shudder...
-
So glad! It wouldn't be the same without Huddersfield! Such a shame the Watsons won't be making it a full house, but I completely respect their choice.
-
I defo want to do this. I vote keep it morning unless anyone asks for otherwise :)How long is the commute in from Stratford? (Where I'll be staying) To plan your travel by any mode of transport, and get journey times, try the Transport for London website, which has everything you need: https://www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/

My itinerary is almost identical to evilfairie's, and I'm staying in the same place too, so I'll be doing the same things, and will be looking to go to the preview and get dinner before the party.
-
Perfect! We can see how well we do at recognising each other from our profile pics!

I won't be arriving in London till the Friday afternoon, in time for registration and the preview, so I won't get to see you all till then. But we could meet at the preview, maybe, if you're all planning to look round on the Friday evening? I'm hoping to get a good look at the exhibitions, as I think the weekend is going to be a bit frantic!

I saw Letters Live as part of the Hay Festival last year, where Benedict and Lisa Dwan (Day 1) and Benedict and Louise (Day 2) read Chris and Bessie's letters, and Benedict read others too, memorably Captain Scott's last letter to his wife. Other actors and writers read as well - Patrick Kennedy, Michael Morpurgo, Chris Evans and several more, and Simon Garfield and Shaun Usher spoke between readings, introducing the subjects. It was a fabulous event, my favourite of the festival, and strongly recommended. I'm not going to the run in London as I have work in the way, but I expect it to be every bit as brilliant. Go if you can!

I agree with everything that's been said above. Of course such an event is going to cost money - but considering what one is getting for the package prices, I think it's great value. My platinum ticket guarantees that I get to meet all the guests twice, hear all the great talks, go to two parties, see fascinating exhibitions, and come away with photos, autos and a goodie bag. I couldn't ask for more! And for me at least, the ticket buying process was straightforward and worked well - dare I say that all that was needed was to follow the instructions on the website to get it right first time... I'm very excited to be attending my first ever convention, and grateful to Showmasters/ ME for putting on such a brilliant event!

It's been a while since I looked, but I think you can get a riding crop in e-bay fairly cheap. Yup, mine is winging its way to me from ebay, for under a fiver. It's yet to arrive, so I can't attest to its quality, but that's not really crucial!
-
Thanks for being so welcoming, all of you! Maybe we should all arrange to meet up: I'm hoping to make some new friends at the Friday night party, so I hope you'll all be there too!
-
This will be my first ever convention, so the whole experience is new to me. As a woman in her early forties who doesn't really do the fandom thing, I fear I might be a bit out of place! I'm coming on a platinum package, as I didn't want to miss out on anything, and I have a friend coming on a weekend pass, who has bought a couple of tickets for talks and photos, but it does mean I shall be doing lots of things on my own. So I'm hoping to meet lots of other Sherlock fans, and really immerse myself in the world of Sherlock that I love so much. I'm very excited by all the talks, and the opportunity to meet some of the people who inhabit the characters of whom I am so fond, and especially the behind-the-scenes geniuses who make the films look so delicious. Arwel Wyn Jones is my hero!

You and I are clearly thinking alike, Zonky! I'm going to Moriarty's lair in a nice dress, a fake crown, and wearing a button badge with the 'honey you should see me...' line on it, just in case anyone's in doubt! As for Irene's boudoir, well, among my accessories will be a riding crop...!
