Edward James Olmos - refunds?
robmoriarty replied to lucykemp21's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2018
Feel for everyone having issues, I really do. I must have been lucky this year, all refunds have come back in correct amounts. This last one has just landed in my account, hope everyone else's arrives in short order. -

Edward James Olmos - refunds?

me too. -
Think I'll stick to biting my tongue on this thread. Everything has been well said already.

Exactly. I'll give you another example - not exclusive to SM. I’ve had a massive bee in my bonnet recently about universities and fire evacuation procedures for those with disability or accessibility needs. Staying at the Olympia Hilton immediately next door, last week was the first time in 20 years I have ever been given an "accessibility pack" when checking in. It had information about everything: parking, entrances, rooms, lifts, flooring types, slopes, loops, the restaurant. Most importantly it simply and concisely stated what would happen in the event of a fire or a drill. Even though I was on the 4th floor, it reassured me they knew what they were doing. I've stayed at other hotels where not only have they not known what the procedure was to get someone in a very big electric wheelchair down to the ground floor in an emergency, but they've never even taken the evacuation chair out of its wrapping to test it/practice at any point. I've got to the point now with the local university where I now refuse to involve myself in any work until they have such a document to provide and a practiced procedure in place that can be shared, unless a ground floor room can be used. It's the 21st century ffs, not medieval times! </here endeth the rant>

Quote for those who cannot see it: "Able bodied people like to think that everything that could be done to make life easier and convenient for disabled people has been done, but when you find yourself in that position, you realise it really, really hasn’t."

Sorry you’ve had to experience a snapshot of our world for yourself @Queen_Sindel. It is unfortunate, but now you will see what Richard Hammond was saying in the quote I posted on the Thursday meeting thread.

Edward James Olmos - refunds?
robmoriarty replied to lucykemp21's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2018
To be fair to SM/EB, my refunds have been pretty swift even with the late cancellations/reported refund errors. This is the last one I'm waiting for. -
I've seen this at other SM events too @Queen_Sindel, it's definitely in the minority but does happen periodically. I struggled in the Meatloaf queue too, then again everyone did! The purple access bands should be considered sacrosanct. If disability treatment still has a way to go in society more broadly, hidden disabilities have even more work ahead and that is a cultural shift, not just related to this event (blue badges for example only just being extended to "hidden" conditions). If you have the access band you have already given over your proof, every staff member should know that and be aware of it. Think it happened to me previously at the autograph area, I've found those at the photo shoot areas to be excellent in the main. Do volunteers go through any sort of disability awareness training? If so, how often is it refreshed? If not, they really should, even if it's only online.

Agreed. I know I’ve said it already, but the print quality really has gone up a notch from last year. I thought it was just Friday being quieter initially, but the rest of the weekend look just as good so far! Last year’s were quite washed/pale by comparison. -

hmmm, so they do... does seem bizarre they still include the share link on each photo if they insist on you paying to use such a feature - and at the same time say "By making your content public, you are also giving all other Users the right to copy, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and create derivative works from it via the Site, third party websites or applications provided such use is not for a commercial purpose". So you can't share your own photos on third party sites, but anyone else can? -
