  1. I agree with you totally. One thing I've noticed is that people (and I'm generalising here) don't check topics that have been posted previously before starting a new one so the forums can end up with duplicates. I think my forums problems is I use an alternative site where mods/admins are able to merge topic threads easily so duplicate threads don't happen and you're able to expand the list of topics you see immediately without needing to scroll through pages/pages and that there are boards for specifics in the way that there is here but there is also then there are dedicated ones such as FAQ. So, working from the SM forum, you would have a board for each event and then a FAQ board which would cover everything else, so things like the complaints/this thread etc would be in the FAQ rather than under the event page. I also agree. I was a newbie this year so decided to trawl the forum for FAQs, hints and tips, etc. some things I found weren't very clear but luckily when I asked for clarification people helped me out. However, the same questions being asked time and again, plus multiple threads as well as some I would describe as general chit chat made it seem rather overwhelming when looking for info. Would it be beneficial to break threads down into sections within an event thread? For example have one for general chat, others regarding tickets/autos etc. I don't know if that would be helpful on a forum this size, it does work on smaller forums Also, thanks to those who pointed out that Jason is dyslexic. As a newbie, it was not something I was aware of. Apologies, Jason.
  2. Perhaps you should have waited until you'd worked out all the details first, and then made the announcement. At the moment things aren't very clear, badly spelled and grammatically incorrect posts aren't making it any clearer, so yes people will have 101 questions
  3. The venue change is due to Earls Court being pulled down so that was always the plan. The longer preview day on the Friday could well be a result of this year though. I probably won't be attending every year as it is very expensive coming from Scotland. Unless of course, a stellar guest is announced
  4. Will these also be at Sheffield, and does anyone which company provides them, please?
  5. Does anyone know who supplied the Throne, and the TARDIS console?
  6. Why should anything be our fault? We don't work for Showmasters, we're not being paid by them to provide PR. This is their event, advertising is THEIR job, not ours! We are the customers, not staff!
  7. Basically, if Showmasters don't get a few more big name guests, then people will not attend. But they've already said that they won't take a chance as this is a first event for Sheffield, so its difficult to see how this event will get off the ground
  8. I've also noticed that places outside London seem happy to take Scottish notes, but not in London. Ticket machines won't take them either
  9. I'm Scottish, and so sick of having the discussion about notes that I change them to English ones, but I shouldn't have to. Apparently it's that we have many different kinds (Bank of Scotland, Clydesdale etc) whereas the English only have the one. It's claimed it's to cut down on forgeries, but I work in a cash office and have seen English note forgeries too. I don't know why Scottish banks do their own notes and English banks don't. But I really can't be bothered with the whole thing anymore. "Oh look, it's Monopoly money!" Yes, very droll, you are indeed a hoot and not being at all offensive or racist *sigh*
  10. I was near the back so the sound was a bit echo-ey, and I only caught every word in five or so, but it was clear they have a lot of love for Sherlock. It was great to see Gatiss in the flesh, and I like how they talked about the large gaps between series making it feel like an 'event' :)
  11. With the amount of money made by LFCC a few bigger guests should be affordable. And it's not the job of the paying customers to do the PR. At the moment there's not much to shout about anyway
  12. My friend complained about the appalling sound in the GoT talk, she was in the front row and couldn't hear a word! She emailed for a refund after the event, and has had no response yet
  13. With the exception of Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy, I'm struggling to get excited about the guest list. Seems to be a fair few people who were in the background of a scene in SW, or people I've met at other events. Hoping for bigger announcements this week
  14. Yesterday was horrifically overcrowded and dangerous. We left at 2pm because we couldn't get to anything and couldn't get near the stalls to browse. Had someone collapsed in the stifling heat, it would have taken at least 10-15 mins to get a first aider there. It took me 15 mins to get from one side of the main stage to the other to get to the bathroom, and we were crammed like sardines. The main problem seemed to be the amount of people trying to read the photoshoot price lists on the wall in that section.
