  1. I bet it's a GOT screening. They had one last year and the year before.
  2. Yes, thank you. It looks like it's going to be another awesome year!
  3. I was also deterred by the high price of the autograph. My solution was to buy a ticket for the talk, which is cheaper, so I would at least get to see her. Is that an option for you?
  4. I think they will have AC on but it will be hot nonetheless, with all those people in there. I remember last year, Saturday was particularly bad. Even AC has its limits on what it can do. Luckily my cosplay costume will be cooler than last year! Also being from Greece I am more used to the heat (the only good thing about being from Greece nowadays).
  5. I'm cosplaying as Daenerys on Saturday, and on Sunday I'll wear my Hobbit T-shirt!
  6. Greece. Will be staying over the weekend with my cousin in Twickenham.
  7. Last year it was allowed. I think what the FAQ means is that you can't get a one-on-one photo with the guests at the talk.
  8. I had a clash of a photoshoot with a talk last year, and I was able to get a refund on the talk.
  9. So far I've got: Charles Dance (Booked photoshoot) - GoT Richard Dean Anderson - MacGyver (my favourite childhood show) Robert Englund - Nightmare at Elm Street Keisha Castle-Hughes - The Whale Rider (will print a photo for this one) Judy Blume - read her books as a child And possibly the following: Carice van Houten - GoT Gemma Whelan - GoT Kenny Baker - Star Wars Also booked BttF talk and Sigourney Weaver talk. Wanted to book a photoshoot with Christopher Lloyd and the Delorean, but they'd sold out
  10. Queuing early is usually for getting a low number on your VQ ticket for autographs. Especially if you want to get an autograph from someone popular. It's unlikely you'll miss a photoshoot if you don't queue early.
  11. Nice one, but 95 pounds is too high for me. I am considering the Aliens talk though.
  12. I think the Latest Guest Announcements are only pinned for a while, then they are unpinned
  13. I can see what you mean. I think if you don't want to pay a month's salary for autographs and photos, you are bound to have to decide not to see some guests you wanted to see. I had this problem last year and although at first it seemed there wouldn't be many people I wanted to see this year (to the point where I thought it might not be worth the aeroplane ticket to come), once again I find I will have to cross some people off my list. It's good when they bring people you want to see, but the downside of that is the money problem. Like for the new big guest that is to be announced today, on one hand I am excited, on the other I am afraid he/she may be too expensive for me. The main problem with it being too big is that it can get really crowded. I remember last year Saturday was horrendously crowded. I hope it will be better this year at the Olympia.
  14. At the YALC FAQ it mentions "book signing sessions"; does that mean the authors will be available for book signings only certain times? Will there be a virtual queue system for that?
  15. "the biggest guest we have ever had at one of our shows" This sounds exciting, but doesn't bode well for the guest's price range. Hope I can afford him/her!
  16. Judging from last year, I wouldn't advise getting vouchers at the sales desk. The queues can be horrendous; last year I had to queue at a sales desk Saturday (for a different reason) and was there for a whole hour.
  17. I'm more psyched about her part in Whale Rider, since the Dorne storyline this year was a bit meh. She is on my list of potential guests to see.
  18. You should! I was ambivalent about going this year and only booked today; as a result, the Christopher Lloyd photoshoots were all sold out. On the subject of cancellations, fingers crossed that no one I want to see will cancel!
  19. Last year I took the train from Twickenham and I felt a bit weird at the beginning of the journey, as it was only me in costume. An old lady asked me about it and I said I was going to a Film and Comic Convention. As I got closer to Earl's Court, more cosplayers came on so I didn't look weird any more. You should just not mind what other people might think.
  20. I stayed all day as I had things to do, also wanted to make the most of it since it was my first convention, and had planned things to do nearby after 6 anyway (GOT commentary on Saturday, meeting my cousin for drinks Sunday). But my brother came mainly to see the 1989 Batmobile so he came Sunday around 4 and then looked at the stalls for stuff to buy till it was time to meet our cousin.
  21. Yes, I got in at 11:30 on Saturday and got 1099. Then on Sunday I upgraded to early bird (Summer being one of the reasons) and got in at around 9:20, got No. 235 and got to see her around midday! Got a photoshoot too. I think if you're planning to go for someone really popular it's a good idea to get early bird.
  22. Didn't know this was a new system as this was my first time. Great idea, I must say! Very well done!
  23. You lucky baseborn cad! How many people are there with that name? Maybe you could send a request to all of them with the question, "Are you the person I met at the Lena Heady photoshoot?" Or at least you could try with those that don't have profile pictures of themselves.
