  1.    Looks like I may have to miss out this year as working all four days (unless my employer agrees to my holiday request ) :-( Man, that sucks. I may face a similar situation since my cousin is getting married this year and unfortunately the LFCC weekend is one of the potential dates. So I am waiting for him to set the date before I buy anything, but if I do I will buy Saturday and Sunday.
  2. I'll probably get Saturday and Sunday. Might also get Friday if I see I want to meet many guests.
  3. Woohoo! I've wanted to meet him for ages! Really looking forward to July, and hope he doesn't cancel!
  4. Is there any chance you could add PayPal to the payment options? I'm not sure we can use credit cards to buy here in Greece due to the capital controls, but PayPal seems to be working (I recently bought sth with it). I can use a cousin's foreign credit card instead and give her the money later, but I would rather be able to pay directly with my own money.
  5. I don't know if that would be possible, but is there any chance of getting any showrunners to come and do autographs/talks? Specifically Joss Whedon or Ronald D. Moore. Would love to meet them!
  6. I want to add regarding queues, if you want to get an autograph for a very popular guest make sure to queue early in the morning, so you can get inside soon enough to get a good number on the queue.
  7. Sounds interesting! Not sure yet if I will be able to make it but I'll try. I suppose this post will still be around as the time gets nearer for the Con? Then I will know for certain.
  8. Haven't been to any of these. Any more details as to how do they work? Do we meet somewhere after the Con or at midday?
  9. Earl's Court had the advantage of being all on one floor, so you didn't have to go up and down all the time. But Olympia was bigger and therefore could accomodate more people.
  10. All your posts made me realise what a great cultural difference there is between the UK and Greece regarding smoking. Over here people still smoke indoors despite the supposed "ban", so I wouldn't bat an eyelid at someone smoking outdoors in a queue. In fact there was a smoker right next to me on Saturday and I hardly noticed.
  11. I came from abroad, too, and was worried about not being able to get small enough banknotes, so when I got to the airport I went to the currency exchange desk with a bunch of Euros and specifically asked to get them converted into pounds in 5s, 10s, and 20s if possible. Luckily they had no problem doing that so I ended up with a big bunch of 5s and 10s and 20s, and had no trouble at the autograph desks.
  12. I got a photo of him too! I figured 2 pounds was a fair price, and for a charity. He did look freakishly like Leonard Nimoy!
  13. Yes. This. Not only does it make your day easier but the crew will like you more if you give them £5 notes. I'll be on the crew's good list, I specifically went to my bank today to take a load of cash and requested it in £5 notes! I start hoarding £5 notes for about two weeks before any con. This way I can pay for things I want and make very busy crew members happy by paying £15 in £5 notes. ALL OF THE CHANGE. I did the same thing last year, because I was in England for a week before the Con. This year, however, I will be coming directly from Greece, so I hope the currency exchange at the airport has small banknotes! Otherwise, I will be pissing off a lot of the staff, I expect!
  14. It can be very disappointing. I think it is a good idea (someone mentioned on this forum, I think) to not book if you only want to see 1 person. Because if that person cancels you will be left with tickets and travelling arrangements which you can't refund.
  15. Damn! I booked 1 photoshoot, and now it's cancelled. But on the bright side, I will be able to attend the Judy Blume talk, which overlapped with the photoshoot and I would probably have had to miss. Can I ask how the refund is done? Is the money automatically refunded to my credit card, or do I have to show the ticket at the sales desk?
  16. I like how you reference us in your post!
  17. It is indeed the first task. But I don't remember there being a big queue to get VQ tickets last year. It was a small one. I think since people get in one by one, and they don't all prioritise the same guest, the queues for the VQ tickets aren't very long. Also it is really easy and quick to hand out VQTs; nothing to check, just hand people a slip of paper.
  18. Spread over 4 levels (3 floors and the ground floor) - I can see a lot of up and down the stairs this weekend! Will get a lot of exercise. Also, thanks for posting.
  19. You can get to Kensington Olympia using the London Overground. It's how I'm getting there.
  20. I also think there is a limit to how many things you can get signed, and that is 5. If you want more than 5 autographs, you have to queue a second time.
  21. I'm sure you'll have a great time. I attended last year for the first time and it was great! As for queueing, I will aim for 8am, but I know many people queue even earlier. I remember last year I showed up 8am on the Sunday and the queue was already snaking all the way around Earl's Court.
  22. I disagree with Geekchic, I think it's OK for a cosplayer to wear a very revealing costume if that is what the character wears and people at the Con should be expected to be understanding of it. As Miss Magrat, said, you see more flesh on the beach and people are expected to control themselves (and their hands) there. I do agree, however, that if your costume is very revealing you should probably wear something to cover it while on the way to the Con, because the people on the tube/bus will not understand and you could get a lot of unwanted attention.
  23. It is truly beyond my understanding why someone would think it's OK to harass someone wearing a costume for cosplay. It is obvious that the cosplayer is wearing the costume in order to be like the character they are cosplaying as, not because they want sexual comments. Why some people don't seem to understand that is beyond me.
