At the beginning three queues, but not the way you describe it. Prepaid one side, pay on the day the other. Standard prepaid goes in two hours after Early Birds prepaid. Once the initial line has got in all prepaid will pretty much be walk in. So by the time the Standard prepaid arrive the Early Bird prepaid will be he standard prepaid. I hope that makes sense, it reads way more confusing that it actually is. In the middle of these two is the Gold Pass line, but that one is long gone before the standard tickets even come into play. Thanks. I think I might preorder the standard ticket then. I'm not getting up at 6am to catch train to get there in time for the earlybird entry. lol! I think getting up at 8am will be a bit more resonable.

Question: So I notice you can pre order earlybird or standard tickets. Does that mean there's 3 queues? One for early bird, one for those already with standard tickets and one for buy on the day? Trying to work out which is best to buy.

Cosplay Competiton - past winners?

You lost me at pinked, hong kong hand overcast etc! I can do basic hand stitiching and replacing buttons on a waistcoat. Lol Trust me once you get into sewing your own clothes...there is sooo many options and techniques to learn. And its rather addictive... -
Maybe something like a flicker gallery? Is that what you mean?

My clara/sherlock bustle gown is a bit of a failure…can't get the fit on the bodice right. On the plus side I've found some 1970's vintage sewing patterns….so I think a 'sarah jane smith' outfit might be a possibility. Which day would you be cosplaying as Sarah Jane Smith? I would love to get a pic with you as I'm throwing my hat into the crowd this time and going as the tenth doctor in his blue suit (the version from Sontaran Strategm) on the saturday. Sonic Screwdriver and psychic paper included Cool. I'm planning on going on the saturday with the 4th doctor (my cousin).

Hoping that with a 2nd series (and perhaps more funding) they will a) draw more from the books and make the characters more sympathetic to the audience work on the costumes a bit more. (the painting from the era have such vibrant colours silks and lace...its seems a shame to just use drab colours and leather all the time.

I was hoping that if they completely ignored the book's plots there would be some pretty frocks I could make but unfortunately it wasn't the case. I prefer chaps with brain over brawn...so I soon got over the eyecandy. Take more than a big sword to impress me.

As I'm a historical costume nerd and a fan of the books. I'm sure if I didn't have that knowladge all the niggly things wrong wouldn't drive me so crazy and then I could enjoy it...but as it is my brain can't help but focus on the innacuracies. Spend a lot of the episode wondering why all the girls are permenantly in thier undergarments. And wishing they would put more layers on. lol!

Cosplay Competiton - past winners?

Hmmm...I'm hoping you get extra points for flashy seam finishes (trying to decide between pinked, hong kong, hand overcast or french.) Sew in interfacing. Topstiching. Understitching. Hand sewn hems. Invisible zips, shirring. etc. I make my frocks to last. My cosplays aren't just for cons...they are for everyday. Maybe I watch too much of the great british sewing bee. lol! -

I've gone for a retro look (1970's) as I know I can sew it quickly and well. Although to get the pattern right I'm gonna have to drape the collar and make major changes to my sloper. (Going as sarah jane smith). I've also said I'll help my cousin with his costume and sew him a 4th doctor waistcoat. I'd like to know what criteria is jusdged though. Like will they be checking seam finishes etc.? or is it just the overall look... -
I was going to go steampunk...but then the person I'm going with wanted to have matching cosplay as he's doing 4th doctor I'm going as sarah jane. I'll probably go steampunk to WLFCC.
-
Bingo. Todays episode is a bit CSI-ish.

Now wondering how I can carry round a roast dinner....lol! Will probably bring some crochet....

Sherlocked: The Official Sherlock Convention
LadyDeTemps replied to showmasters's topic in Sherlocked
I'm guessing as nothing is firmed up datewise yet it'll be closer to end of the year? Or else its gonna be a bit crashbangwallop. lol! -
Anyone been watching the most resent episodes? The first seemed to be a sherlock pistache, the second felt like a midsummer murders episode. lol! Its just not quite the same as it used to be.

I've given up hope of a doctor who guests being at the con on the saturday. And there's no one I recognize (or would get up at crack of dawn to get there early and queue for). So basically its a cosplay shopping trip. Thought I might go via some dw locations and take photo's. lol!
-
So if your not interested in photo's or autos with any of the guests is there any point getting there for opening time? Would it be better to arrive a little later and join the end of a diminishing queue?
-
Especially if it co-incided with some new episodes that would ramp up the interest. I like the show but not a rabid fan. I'm only interested is its in London (Excel would be perfect....) and it doesn't clash....and it doesn't cost a fortune.

Friend of mine reccommended I look for some steampunk comics as I like historical stuff. Did a search on pinterest and came across 'girl genius'. Which looks like it could potentially be something I'd read.
-
My local comic book shop shut a couple of years ago. Used to get big finish audios Doctor who magazine and doctor who dvds from there.
-
So I'm not a comic book fan...but if you wanted to introduce me to comics where would I start? So far every comic I've come across has either blokes with guns or ladies who I think will probaby catch pneumonia. Is there any comics aimed at the female market or are they all male orientated? help!
-
I don't read comics…well unless you count tintin and asterix which I read as a child. But I do appreciate art (I do like pop art roy litchenstein stuff)…is there anything you can suggest I might enjoy at a comic heavy con?
