  1. Simon Pegg's just been announced! what are u on mate? Leave Bohan alone Skyriderz. Who gives a crap what you think. Ron Perlman doesn't care about come childish comparison in star power ccompared to Simon Pegg? Isn't it a siging, unless stated down somewhere, the guests aren't in competition with each other on but to show up and have a good time with their fans. Yes i too wouldn't have mind meeting Ron. But he has cancelled now, Bohan was just stating who else will be present. Bohan's a young man, why don't you think before jumping down his neck with your little comparsion games and funny icons?! Last time i checked, it called a convention! You'll meet different kinds of guests of different qualities and backgrounds in their respectife fields, compared to each other. Don't laugh at somebody else requests unless you have a decent logical reason to. You gonna laugh at the choice of comic artist compared to a TV/movie star next? Or do you comprehend the term ComicCon now. Cut Bohan some slack, at least he doesn't show any kind of "taboo" about a movie star to a comic star. People will go to cons for their own reasons and entertainment. while i'm content to buy comics meet stars and whatnot. Others may disagree and laugh i'm paying out to stars who work for a living and are being paid even more at a convention. Don't laugh at other people choice of guest, LFCC 2 still looks to have a solid line up, and may have Ron Perlman at another date in the future?
  2. No Starbuck is a man! Only sheep would be force fed the woman angle and wouldn't complain about it. come on "BUCK" = Female does it? (cynical) right....... Don't complain cos you don't get what "metaphor" is o.k. Those episodes played on the 'subtle' origins and past lives of mankind. The entire series was about the concept of, if we came from out there as opposed to here on earth? The Chariot Of The Gods angle done wayyy before Stargate was a movie or series. So, one world had a wild west setting, others had a fantasy setting* with unicorns etc (see the Young Lords original episode*) Then there was episodes such as Living Legend and War Of The Gods, so don't even dare go there and make yourself foolish by saying those were badly written episodes. Even the most harden critics always said Galactica was at it's peak within the 2 hour episode formats. And those mentioned are the ones Ron D. Moore wants to remake into episodes should he get a chance for a 2nd season. Why does he need to remake classic Battlestar Galactica episodes of the previous series if his version is sooooo....improved over the original hmmm? Lack of original ideas, if it so good why take from what already existed before. And get over yourself, 70's disco same era inwhich alot of classic stuff is stolen from these days from old TV shows to the fashion's and music. Ah i see i can respect you on some level huh. Guess Bonnie Hammer fools nobody? She is the "Bane" of sci-fi, nobody likes her, U.K. and U.S. fans alike. If you think Battlestar Galactica fans hate her for stopping Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto's Battlestar Galactica continuation version (partly) Farscape fans wanted her head on a pike after cancelling Farscape! Don't inslut me, i post on a better board than Sci-fi Channel.com And lets remember there are a lot of people out there that don't post on a board but feel the same way i do. And i'll be fair to you as well some do like the new Galactica the same way too. But if i were to take bets, many of them wanted a "Continuation" they far outweight the ones that support a remake. I must say one thing and will say this very clearly. If you are a person who really has a strict belief in the original, I would not advise that you watch this program. It'll hurt them. We really don't stand true to the kind of characters that were built around the original. It definitely does break the mold. Some of the characters' names are the same, but the intent and the way that we are building the reality is completely not the reality that was built in the original. No, the short Olmos quote i got was the one "I put up". Cos i remember all too well. Since it caused Hammer's butt to wiggle, wondering if her 2003mini was already sunk! We both agree again. although i perfer the originals, i wouldn' mind talking to the remake ones about the other acting gigs they've done! Later
  3. Really? or is it you haven't checked out the links i left behind this morning. Me slagging it off? Don't get me wrong, got nothing against the actors. But fans of Galactica have been looking forward to a continuation not a "cheapo" remake. Which was the fault of the U.S. Sci-Fi Channel. Had Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto from X2 been successful rather than being told to leave the project behind and go on, to start pre-production on X2. They'd would have delivered a long overdue "continuation" the fanbase wanted. Funny how, actually bringing up it's history it slagging it off. it's the damn truth. if you can't handle it quit crying. like i stated before check out the links, unless a fresh dose of reality too much too handle. Only other person in that "Abomination" worth his salt is Edward James Olmos. Soon as it cancelled, look for Olmos to jump ship without looking back. Hell, in the 2003 press conference he blasted the mini saying, if you love the original quote: Put in the DVD while we're on and don't go through the pain! - Bonnie Hammer (yeah the clown responsible for this - ) became infamous for her quoted butt wiggling after Olmos said that. Yeah got my DVD R1 of Galactica, and if i catch a glimmer of that crappy remake. It going in the DVD player. as Olmos said. While i wouldn't mind meeting Bamber or Olmos (for his days in Miami Vice TV series) nope sorry, while i respect your opinon cos it's your generation, watching this, i hope you understand an older fans objections. Cuz i was hoping for a far superior revival of my show. Just telling it as it is. i'm sick of people dissing the original, and making lame excuses for doing so. If i'm entitled to my opinon, then learn to hear it OUT without moaning about it then! Didn't i say i had no problem with Bamber and Olmos? I know i'm a much bigger fan of Miami Vice than anyone on this thread right now So don't ever say i got a problem with the actor. I don't just the fan they were conned into acting in this piece of garbage! You weren't around back when Galactica 1980 was on were you? It didn't last long cos it wasn't what the fan of Battlestar Galactica wanted. You'd understand then why fans prefer the original. Seems executives in Hollywood have let lightning strike twice. Fans Hated G1980 and many hate the BGmini-2003 as well. Oh and the thing about the press conference back in 2003 is the truth. deal with it. Olmos would rather be elsewhere. U.S. Sci-Fi Channel President Bonnie Hammer is very hated by the way she runs the Sci-Fi Channel. Speaking as one who been watching the U.K. one from November 1995 since it started over here. She influenced our as well! And Ron Moore, much less said about him the better. People who slag, don't talk like that. Get off my back and quit moaning about entitled to opinons. When you obviously can't tolarate a Stern hard opinons from somebody else. I actually supported your reasons for bringing over the actors cos they've done other acting gigs beside that crappy remake, it is possible to like the some of the actors but dislike the series they happen to be on, ya know. You wanna see slagging, read the message boards on two of those links!!! - (You'll see slagging alright and then some) The third is meant to show you fandom's plans to continue on with the original "unmolested" version you should have seen. And are campaigning for it. Sheeeh..... we done now! Good and i'll leave you on good terms cos i said before, yeah Edward James Olmos and co at a convention. I agree with certainly. But classic Battlestar Galactica rules and always will. -
  4. You've got to be joking? You've just had Benedict and Hatch at CM6. You want stars from that crappy remake too? - Now admit people can be from different generations, but, come on. Either it's my dislike of remakes. But this remake series is "Mack". The U.K. only got the premiere cos SKY paying for half of it. which means the cheapo U.S. Sci-Fi Channel needed help paying up for the production of it. Which isn't good at all. Don't get me wrong, got nothing aganist the actors. Battlestar Galactica revival goes back a couple of years, from Richard Hatch's attempts to Creator Glen Larson own IMAX idea? for a fan like me it a "death knell" to have a the old series redone. Hollywood's drive to remake everything is a strong sign of no originality within Hollywood anymore. Too many redone movies based on old TV series that weren't anything but foddler for some cheesy wannabe pretty face, no-talent young 20's something star these days. Same goes for TV remakes of older classic shows. While Jamie Bamber was great to watch in, "Band Of Brothers". I won't be watching the reimagining of one of my favorites shows of the past. And while i've seen many U.S. shows on SKY One, Come and go that were great and didn't last long. I still think of all the good ones that get cancelled and didn't have a chance on SKY? I don't see this remake doing any better, nor will it. For one, too many older fans like myself are against it here and everywhere else that knows of it. where Galactica fans know of the remake and were also against it. Two, in the U.S. they await the results of the 13 episodes airing and if doesn't do well on SKY as several others that have come and gone. It possible it won't last long over there either? As it's meant to air in January in the States. Don't believe me? Go here: http://mboard.scifi.com/postlist.php?Cat=&...lestarGalactica And at: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=18634 (look under the new Battlestar Galactica!) And about that revival for the originals stars to appear in a movie continuation; www.colonialfanforce.org While i won't watch it, meeting Bamber from "Band Of Brothers" won't be too bad. As i watched that. I realise you're all young, and didn't see the original in the late 70's and it's repeats in the late 80's. along side Glen Larson's other shows like "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" But you can't be serious about watching a show thats got baby killings and sexbot Cylons? and a female Starbuck can you.... That hold thing about, punching out a colonel wouldn't happen on a military ship in real life. **sigh** Only other person in that "Abomination" worth his salt is Edward James Olmos. But, i'll sure back your intentions to bring whatever "star" to a con, wasn't their fault. I just blame the "U.S. Sci-Fi Channel" for not listening to the fans pleas for a differnet version, to this one. [Now thats a Cylon baby!]
  5. Anna Paquin, would it be possible to get an Oscar winner to a convention! Hmmmm...? Thats Stanford! Yep wouldn't mind if he could be lured to a convention. I know it would make up for me missing out on the X2 premiere. The best London Premiere LQ had many have said. And i chose to stay home and watch TV - I know Stanford is in movie "Rick" but it has a somewhat limited release and is playing at film festivals more than cinemas. Anna, Aaron and Ashmore. Maybe along with Ray Park A.K.A. Toad. And Mystique Rebecca Romjin Stamos as well. If Kristanna Loken can be at a Cm event so can Ms Stamos?!
  6. Wasn't Greedo also played by a woman? Look at the scene when Greedo sits down with Han in the Cantina again? Looks like a woman's form not a man's. Greedo's waist swivles as he/she sits down. I wonder what parts exactly Mr Blake shot and what parts are still of the other actor/actress. Lets remember the cantina scene was reshot by Lucas but i've heard some shots are still from the first cut?
  7. While SM conventions like CM have gone up and down in terms of either a good or bad day. I'd have to agree with most of the ones who haven't had a great CM6. It certainly had it's good spots inbetween meeting certain guests. The flipside of the coin is also, the fact several guests people expected to meet wasn't all it was cracked up to be. This is always going to be a touchy subject but it comes in hand in hand with the subject matter doesn't it. Even two weeks after, i've mulled over CM6 and my feelings have gone up and down on it. I was surprised somebody said "Test" looked nervous arriving at the party. - As i was leaving MK i remembered him passing me by, at Burger King? He big alright, but nowhere near as big as he looks on TV? Just more muscular than a normal guy his size would be (he does workout right?) and just an inch taller than me. But not the hercules i'd thought he be? Basically all i'm saying is. At the end of the day people going to conventions have a right to their negative opinons. All this Do you expect golden toilet seats? and constant defending bad guests behavior seems a little one sided and always on the customers end of things. I've yet to encounter any REAL troublemakers at conventions, and i'm old pro going to cons for a decade and a half. So i'm wondering why all the hard knocks towards people who attended and didn't get such an enjoyable weekend. when they are entitled to air any bad vibes and want to improve things by discussing it. I'm sick of hearing people bash others, because they had either an incredible time or want to tease others and add cynical Thats life or Do you expect the red carpet treatment etc. Yes i do agree while CM evnts are somewhat badly organised, they are in fact and do provide people to meet stars at conventions and i'm calling it a convention, because it has dealers and comic book venders, mechandise on offer, DVD being sold and other such booths. When you take that away THEN it's purely a 'sigining'! Can yes people even want to question the quality of guests. Whether they be stars, A-list stars performers, or token extras and stunt persons. Alot of discussions erupt into blasting or defending guests wayyy to much, i thought it was a message board. Aren't these topics up for discussion why treat everything as taboo or off limits? And is there a need for constant quoting? gets a little bothersome reading a massive quote i could read if i just when back to the person who wrote/typed whatever? I think us convention going people along wih SM should discuss these things together to better the events, cos isn't the LFCC2 coming up? No doubt, if lesseons aren't learned by then. They will always crop up to haunt both the customers and organisers. When certain issues could be solved rather then bringing up the same old arguements for each convention event in turn, cos nothing was learned the last time round? 1) Events need dedicated workers, not anyone who will slouch cos their getting paid by the hour. and treat customers poorly. 2) Yes us customers, need more realistc goals in meeting any guest and need to behave. However, any complaints customers have. Need to be taken with thee most serious attitude by organisers. Not to be blown off cos money needs to be made by those in charge and your not seen or taken seriously. 3) Guests who enjoy meeting people and attending conventions need to signed up to a event. Prima Donnas rude guests and those known to be difficult. Are the ones who wouldn't be asked to attend again. The amount of negative comments at the obvious guests should be taken seriously. these guest may make money at their first CM. but many will remember them, and they won't be make money again from the ones who felt they were treated badly. 4) Organisation. get it right and you'll have a better convention. 5) Happy customers equals better enviroment of a convention, happier customers and better enjoyment of the con period. 6) Security that doesn't jump the gun? Nobody outright made any foolish threating movements to CM guests. Or in my time at a convention, done anything of anykind. Would be better if these so-called professaionals, suited guards or security. Not throw their weight around. Too many mis-understandings come from mis-understood and unsolved disputes. And unless proven to be gulity of something, it would actually help if OWNED UP and said the goofed up bad. Whether or not crew or guest had a complaint if your innocent of any mis-understandings. Would help if Sm, had any regard for you rather than be all business and ignored you. Hope these things are under consideration. And it's taken in as a valuble learning tool. With LFCC2 around the corner who would disagree? Anyone who shares this, please add an idea.
  8. I know it's been a week since his death. But i like to add, how sadden i was last week at hearing of his passing away. Like many people, i wondered if he'd walk again too. He wasn't just Superman but an incredible person in real life. Although he tried to move on to other things after the Superman movies, he admited he'd "never escape the cape". But he never became one who then later hated, doing a past role either. He played on of thee most recognisable fictional iconic roles by being Superman. And was "THE" best superhero portrayed onscreen in Richard Donner classic; Superman :The Movie. More or less on of the first films i ever watched. The film has inspired many film makers doing current superhero movies, including Bryan Singer who is undertaking the new/ next version of the film franchise. Unlike todays movies, it wasn't in competition with other films so much. It was an incarnation of the Superhero that wanted to convince people that a man could fly. Even after a week, i'd like to say how tragic and how badly i felt hearing of this. I wished him god speed on his way to heaven. Ironic this came at a time only a few months after the death of Marlon Brando who played 'Jor-El' his father in the Superman films. He was my "Superman" of my generation and the next film starring Superman will be judged on it's own "merits". As no comparisons to the previous Superman films, could ever be made to Christopher Reeve take on Superman. Superman still stands head and shoulders above many of the so-called better comic book adaptations of today. I pray one day audiences will see a special edition of Richard Donner's true vision of his sequel "Superman 2" which was left somewhat half-done? As Donner was replaced by Richard Lester. And scenes between both Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando remain unseen to this day. In a vault at Pinewood studios. Christopher Reeve will aways be thought of as the definite Superman for many years to come. As very few could ever imagine another person in the role as the 'Man Of Steel'.
  9. You jest surely. Your not confused or confuzzled with, AOTC or ROTS or ANH or TESB and lastly there is ROTJ! Are you?
  10. Aw man, hearing that is almost as bad as saying he cancelled? Well lets hope SM has him on the books for LFCC 3 then. And since i too heard he had the DVD on him. Next time i'm bringing along a portable DVD player or laptop, just in case! Good talk to ya Strider.
  11. Down to earth questions about them, and also their work in general. although you can never get them all quite ready when meeting a guest. Gary Kurtz really listened to his fans, but man my mind went a little blank due to all the somewhat excitment of meeting some of the stars. He understood. Also Richard Hatch was more than open to take questions and listen to what you wanted to ask besides signing. Besides Gary he impressed me the most. It true Hatch would love to talk to people all day if he could. i'm surprised he didn't do a "Talk panel". Dwight Schutz was another excellent person to talk to. I went up to him for a photo and also got an interesting brief chat with him too. I was sadden by being pushed for time talking to Walter Koenig as i did pay up for an autograph. Funny thing is you see a line not busy one bit. Soon as you go up to seea guest you want, you grab everyone's elses attention and they too want to me them thus your pushed for time when they queue up. Walter was nice and very open to talking as well as signing an autograph, although a little tired he shared information on his future work. He has got his own short film he is shopping around to get distrubuted and and he does producing and writing now as well as acting. I always then to ask guests. What are you doing now. Are there any future projects you're working on besides acting? And generally allow the conversation to flow into other things briefly. I think it always best to be down-to-earth and and act natural. Not take the hardcore fanboy approach and hammer out too much fan related questions about their movie/show etc which would bore them silly, if you don't put it across right. Ask your question the same way you'd ask anybody else. Helps boost you're confidence talking to other people and allows you to free up anything you've got on your mind far as asking any original the guest mayb not have been asked before. But it's still great to talk with them about their work. Or even better bonus to get asked questions by them in return.
  12. Same here, same here. Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming The Great War Of Magellan And a "Talk" held by Hatch and Benedict. Man, you can only wonder at what could have been. Or might, should this thread be of any use, that it's up. and inspire SM do give us 'Both' Hatch and Benedict for this LFCC 2. I'd yank along any many people as i possible could to LFCC if this were to happen.
  13. I wanted to meet him, say hello, and get my picture taken with him. Attendants weren't haven't it. Yet you keep on hearing stories of people actually meet them just for the picture. Never has the term. Right time right place meant so much. Guess some people are so fortunate while others aren't.
  14. Well there are certainly ways of describing various Willows now aren't there. Ah Willow's Willow, alot of fans find her the real star of Buffy - Dark Willow Vampire Willow Regular Willow Cute long hair, Season 1 Willow Double cute Season 2 Willow Season 4 Indentity Crisis Willow. You know what i'm hinting at "WINK" Barring any future "Buffy" movies take your pick? -
  15. ? Evil Willow, wasn't that the one from season 6 of Buffy. Thought you meant that the "red head" in the costume was Vampire Willow! Just my opinon on it. Yep there are older fans who like Buffy and have followed it.
  16. Oh dear....? What am i to do. Oh well. let me put the cork in and finish this. Nice and civil like. What i said. Think you've shot yourself in the foot with that remark. And sold yourself short. See i don't have to respond back to you, like you did to me. You shown yourself to be very ignorant of things you claim you do but don't. And don't have to lower myself to your level. Everyone here will see what your said "out of the blue" and towards me. "There is nothing to win in this so why bother". And then there is yours above right? Yet again, you missed something. Otherwise you would have seen this "There is nothing to win in this so why bother". which you responded with. **SIGH** Nope. You and everyone else here are quite within their rights to defend themselves and back their points of view to anybody else. So age really has nothing to do with it. People on this board all have various ages. I'll stand up for myself 24/7 a day. Doesn't mean i sling it in everyone's face does it? or anybody else for that matter. Wrong again, i answered them, in order of importance to my responces to you. No hateful i'll get him for what he said, was on my part at all. But i do like to argue things out in a civil manner rather than ram home a point. I'll stop there cos we want to stop the circle of What he just said don't we? Agree to disagree? fair enough then. Just so others can see that both sides to an arguement doesn't have to end, in vicious hateful squabbles. Don't know what you'll say, but i have no vendettas against you o.k. just that some arguements then to be very, very, passionate. Being too serious or too stiff in various opinions then's to drive posts well past all the points that were all covered and brought up. Later then Father Coop.
  17. Yeah, but i wouldn't compare that show to CM. When i finally went i found out. it was pretty bare? I think i saw Robert Patrick from a distance but i couldn't be sure?! I sure would back everybody else's request to have him at LFCC 2 if that should be the case. [start to pack T2 Ultimate DVD into bag, just in case - ]
  18. I was there too on Saturday Thats what got me. HE HAD IT. On him - i wished Richard Hatch had an organised talk. I believe many would have seen it that way. And paid up to "No End" to see it, as well. That does it i'm bringing my PS2 with me next time to a convention. Just in case SM goof this one up again.
  19. Indeed you do! JV, nice picture you got with Hatch. Don't suppsoe after CM6 he showed his Battlestar Galactica: Second Coming trailer? Man, when Richard told me if anyone had a PC laptop. Boy i would have killed for one right there and then. I actually looked around trying to see if i could as anyone in sight who had one. So i could yank'em over. No, but man i thought i would get to see it! did you? I hope SM get Richard Hatch again and get him to show it off, to tons of U.K. sci-fi fans. I'm sure it is epic enough to blow away Battlestar Galactica fans and non-fans alike. Megafan.
  20. Lois Lane lets one rip! What is it with us English and our sense of humor. glad you got to meet Richard Hatch along with his helper attendee she was equally as nice as Hatch was himself. And Jeremy Bulloch, i also got to meet him and shake his hand while talking to Gary Kurtz. Guess every convention that comes up, is always somebody's first time.
  21. I agree right with you there Rowan. I also like to point out your other metaphor i found strikingly intelligent. Or the over used Cattle Hearding term i've heard at every CM event. I attend cons to meet stars, get stuff signed. as well as the brief talk. I was raised with manners. Why should we act all "Draconian". The day i see fans moving to a con like robots and get a signing and move off coldly without any sign of emotion. will be the day we live in a Toltarian society where emotion is outlawed and it's nothing but money. I can get a signed autograph from a 'specialised' comic book shop or online. But it ain't the same feeling as actually meeting said guest in person. Sorry you believe fans should just put down the money and take the autograph and leave GoldernGreen. But many of us find the hearding method, inhuman if we are to stand for a long time only to be treated so coldly at the end of it all. I can understand the crew wanting to do a good job and all. and the organisers earning back all the money they put into hiring and paying out everybody/crew/stars/the place etc, for the event weeks in advance. But it won't add up to anything if many people are disappointed at the end of it all. Treat it as a business all you want cos yeah, in the real world things do need to be under consideration and certain goals any particular organiser, sets out to meet. But the moment you shove, This is the way it is, deal with it arrogantly into your own customers faces. Sure they may not like it and they can't do anything to change it there and then. But they can spell out and say to others by' "Bad-Word-Of-Mouth" about your convention. And they way it handles things with meeting the guests. Surely if you want the best for CM serious debating like this from reasonable posters can benefit it in the end, by discussing and adding logical ideas rather than lousy infighting with nothing really being said and going round in circles. Megafan.
  22. Without being rude of cocky i'll tell you a fair and honest opinon of it then. Far as successful, yes you can be. But i also know writers/screenwriters or said actresses go book signing inwhich they too regardless of their success do book signing where they charge money. They may also give some of the profits to their favorite charities, other any kind of needful cause of their own choice (i.e. any pet project for the community etc.) Or despite their successes, of any previous work. they haven't even started their next one off yet. and haven't found any work to do. It does happen. Thus, they may want to do a signing while they plan some kind of other venture or get a call from someone. nothing worng in them doing a signing multiple times throughout the year, if they so chose. But sometimes, you get the feeling they do so, cos they've fallen into it as a habit or when they do so it's because they signed to do it then, missed out on a opportunity elsewhere and it was too late to change any of their plans at the last minute. Some maybe so busy doing work, went told by their agent of a convention, they do so to meet fans but aren't so use to meeting them at events. Regardless of WHO you are in life famous or not. You've either got social skills or not. Yes their will be the other side of that coin and guests will meet many fans without social skills either. But if that was the majority conventions wouldn't be so enjoyable to go to in the end. And business couldn't last very long. I just don't kid myself when people aske for huge A-list stars to attend conventions, when it most likely isn't possible. Very few may do signings. But most of them won't be able to because they get paid millions of dollars and at that rate, no headliners running cons could pay their fee for attending a convention. As i'm all to sure there is a very complicated business side to it all. Con organisers don't have it easy so i don't outright blame them. They themselves have to deal with guests and any odd requests they want. But as you said Chris_MK Many factors come into it. which may result in grumpy guests at cons which we've talked about. Later
  23. Absolutely a great guy. Softly spoken, kind, never ever rude or tired looking or fed up to meet anybody. Total professional. Wouldn't mind seeing him again at this LFCC2 thing.
  24. Thats what Scojoe and i have been saying, not to speak for anybody else not present right now, but yeah thats it. Looks as though that particular point isn't shared by one though.
  25. Ahh so you must be the lot of kids, that i saw that went up to Test at one point, correct! Can i ask why the bunnies suits and did you get really get drunk at CM6. To calm the nerves i suppose or for fun at the party? I realise conventions are a freedom of expression and people dress up, but me and a friend i was surprised to meet Saturday were talking away in conversation. When i noticed you bunnies going up to Test. Too bad not everyone goes to the party. But i'm sure it wasn't my scene. No offence to anyone. Not to draw too much attention to that Yoda's Stuntman, but can you actually get away saying that on here?! Quote Keanu Reeves, Whoa.
