  1. Spacewalker (2017) Russian-made film about the Voskhod (Sunrise) 2 mission that featured the first ever spacewalk. I found the first few minutes confusing but after I figured out how to put the English subtitles on I was fine! High quality production with great performances from the lead actors, who also had a good physical resemblance to their characters. Visual effects were also very good, and the film maintained the sense of drama that occurred during the flight and the tension after the Cosmonauts landed and were awaiting rescue from the middle of nowhere. Fellow space buffs (if there are any others left on this forum!) will particularly enjoy it.
  2. Just finished "The Double Cross System" by JC Masterman. All about the activities of the XX Committee in WW2 that ran a network of double agents to feed the Germans false information. The Abwehr thought they had a good spy network in the UK; in reality the British controlled everything. The most celebrated agent was "Garbo" who played a big part in the D-Day deception plan (Operation Fortitude). Now reading "Dark Sun" by Richard Rhodes which is about the development of the hydrogen bomb. First part focuses on how the Soviets got their own atomic bomb with a lot of help from their spies at Los Alamos.
  3. For all you Skylab cover enthusiasts- Skylab 4 cover signed by the crew- Jerry Carr, Ed Gibson and Bill Pogue. Don Lind and Bill Lenoir (backup crew members) also signed. Cancelled on day of launch.
  4. I had already opened a thread on this subject but it seems to have disappeared. Rest In Peace Peter.
  5. Have just started Farcry New Dawn on PS4. Controls are same as Farcry 5 so I can hit the ground running!
  6. Have to disagree-thought it was a very good 2-parter myself.
  7. Nothing beats the wood-panelled TARDIS interior from the Tom Baker era.
  8. You took one for the team there mate- I salute you! Now I can avoid with confidence.
  9. Van Gogh was an interesting character and I agree that Tony Curran did a fantastic job.
  10. For any fellow space buffs out there-Skylab 2 postal cover signed by the crew (date is splashdown and recovery).
  11. He's right about The Dish though.
  12. My better half and I had the pleasure of hearing former West End theatre star Jeff Leyton sing at Falkirk Town Hall last night-he came into the bar after the show and signed autographs and posed for pictures. Really nice guy and still an amazing singer.
  13. As mckee74 says, Shane was very generous with his time and was a popular Showmasters guest. He will be sadly missed RIP
  14. Wolfenstein 2 was very good-the design and look of the game is well-realised and there are lots of side-missions and collectables. Now playing Mad Max. It seems to be mainly based on Mad Max 2 (film) in terms of the look of the game and the storyline. Resources are scarce as you would expect and gameplay is a good mix of driving & combat. I like games where there is a lot to do in the open world and this fits the bill. If you like Farcry games this will be to your taste.
  15. Some of the images in the last few posts were incomplete/scrambled but when I signed in they were fine (?)
  16. Carole Ann Ford & William Russell
