  1. We enquired too and got the 'nothing is decided yet, will let you know' reply when it was first announced. If you don't support the fan groups you are loosing out on free publicity. If you want support from fans you need to support them. We get plenty of updates about guests etc. but no replies to our enquires. There is planning involved in attending and leaving it to the last minute is not at all helpful. All we need is a straight forward yes or no about the fan zone.
  2. it was freezing Friday and Saturday. There is a nasty black dust in the air that gets up your nose. The place is basically still a construction site. Nowhere near finished. (no sanitary bins or paper holders in ladies) I felt very sorry for the stars who came from California who must have felt the cold even worse than we did.
  3. freezing in there today (Friday)
  4. mine have arrived ok-thanks to all xx
  5. There certainly is a demand for trek events in UK. Please allow quiet comfortable spaces for trekkers to meet up drink coffees and chat. Think this was sadly missing in the first destination. Great friends can be made at trek events and it helps spread the word. The early years of trek in uk were wonderful, be great to capture that atmosphere again.
  6. A shame this isn't back in UK. Germany already have some big conventions, UK could do with having more. Went to a big convention over there years ago, very expensive, no translation, non too friendly and no veggie menus so wouldn't waste money going again I don't think. I would rather wait and hope there are more in UK in the future. such a shame, was looking forward to it.
  7. Loved this event, just wish people wouldn't call it a convention. It was not anything like the original conventions. I think newbies were expecting all the extras of a true con- when this was mainly a signing event. The organising and outlay to make the show happen must have been great..so a big thanks to all the organisers I would love to see another maybe with a equal balance of the original and the spin-off series to keep all the trekkers happy.every year might prove too much but every two would be more affordable if advertised well in advance.
  8. Watchdog---some time ago I appeared on the show trying to get refunds for fans after a failed convention. When I heard the show were doing a section on DSTL so soon after the event I was very surprised. The was no time to do any research or investigation to check this wasn't maybe a complaint from a rival set-up, or unjustified complaints from a very small number of attendees. How low Watchdog standards have fallen. I hope the organisers will demand a apology from Watchdog on air, for reporting something they had not had time to research properly before airing
  9. yes I liked the SHOW..and that is the point I think...some people came expecting a convention. The UK convention is nothing like a autograph / photo opportunity show. Confusion often arises because American's call these shows conventions. The Destination delivered exactly what was promised a chance to meet the stars, get autographs and a photo opportunity. All prices were stated well before hand. Yes there were lines, that took time but that was because the show is the first in years and there was great demand. As for cost- do some of the people who complained realise what it costs to bring over actors from the USA? ..not just the plane tickets, but transport, hotels, food etc. Then there is insurance. hire of the venue.furbishing the venue..the list goes on. When I first saw Trek on tv all those years ago it was a impossible dream to think I would one day meet just one actor..let alone so many...organising any event is a thankless task ..you just cant please everyone all of the time.Didnt like it? stay away next time -there will be plenty willing to take your place.
  10. I had a great time Jason. Mistakes were made at times, but to organise such a large event in uk was amazing.Unless you do it yourself you dont understand just how difficult it is with 'red tape' and health and safety getting in your way often quite unnecessarily. Please just go ahead with planning another one. 'a good man learns from his mistakes but isnt defeated by them.' two guys were very helpful to me during the event that I would like to thank, red shirt Kevin and Valdie who never seemed to be still for a moment. The guests were great. So pleasant when many must have been suffering jet lag. What was really a thrill was to see so many attendees wearing uniforms-like the great days of trek, so that you to everyone who made it a great weekend for me live long and prosper
