  1. I have to admit that I too was surprised with his lack of engagement.

When I walked up to him, he turned away to drink his bottle of water with no eye contact. I was like, 'fair enough, I'll wait for him to finish'.

He then turned to face me, picked up a random photo, and said "is this to you?", without a 'hello' or 'nice to meet you' etc.. He appeared distant, out of it, and sluggish in his communication (I thought maybe he's had a few alcoholic drinks?).

The poor start to the meet & greet gradually improved when I started talking to him about his movie 'The Victim'. He definitely perked up from then on and we had a great conversation about the experience. He told me that he was very glad that I watched his movie. :)

He happily signed 2 items and added 'Eat This' to my Aliens Anthology boxset along with his character name Hicks. He also happily allowed a posed photo with me, although he didn't make much of an effort to get in close, but hey at least I got something.

Overall I felt the experience was ok, but you definitely need to initiate the conversation otherwise he'll just be quite distant.

  2. Looks interesting, but also appears heavily influenced by the SlenderMan story.

I remember seeing that Owlman figure in a video scaring people in an 'abandon hospital'.

Clearly staged/scripted in attempt to create a viral video to promote their movie.

  3. Sigourney Weaver fits the clue and would absolutely love it to be her.

Ian Holm, hmm hoping, but wishful thinking..

Tobin Bell, could be a possibility as he has attended an American Con this year.

Andrew Lincoln is a big possibility, but may clash with the The Walking Dead red carpet premiere in the States?

@Geekchic - yes, Bruce Campbell has already done a showmasters event. Missed him there, would love to meet him too.

  4.

Thank you for all the replies! LSM no I'm only meeting George. I'm travelling from Glasgow so my budget is quite limited, I would love to do the photo shoot too, but I think I'd prefer the autograph cause I know you can interact a little more with the guest and I really want to get a chance to tell him how much I love him :-D

I'll make sure that the first thing I do is go and get my ticket number!

I hope you guys have an awesome awesome day, thanks again for all the advice!

Travelling down from Glasgow here too, and I have a photo booked with Mr. Romero on the Friday, so I hope your journey goes ok and the meeting with him goes even better. I've heard he is really fan friendly so it should be good, it's my first time meeting him too :)

Yes, he is very fan friendly, chatty, and accommodating. I've met him 4 times and every time has been a pleasure; he's like a cuddly grandfather :D

I already have a photoshoot booked and plan to get a 2 or 3 items signed. I'm treating this opportunity as my last, unless he comes back for a film festival appearance - but you never know!

Here's one that I got tonight, the lovely Jenny Agutter on my American Werewolf In London (blu-ray steelbook) :D

I've never got a steelbook signed yet, does the sig stay on or is it prone to being rubbed off? Love that AWiL steely, one of my faves too.

My first steelbooks that were signed were from the inside because I thought it looked better, for example:

    HUMANCENTIPEDE.jpg

It stays on fine but, if I wanted to, could easily rub it off with a bit of force.

I now stick with signings on the front artwork as it permanently stays on, for example:

  9.

...but why pay well over $100 when the Arrow box is so reasonably priced.

I thought that too until I watched the Synapse release; It is vastly superior to Arrow's (c-ock-up) release.

Aside from some slight compression issues on D2 i think the Arrow release is pretty good. Not seen the Synapse versions though.

They also f'd up the sound and dub too, in particular in Demons 1, the gang with the 'Pepsi' can car scene.

Also, Arrow cashed in with their unofficial Demons 3 comic books.

I sold my copies and bought the Synapse steelbooks instead.

  11. I'm a completest, so I would love to see more reunions!

Ooohh a "Nightbreed" reunion would be great, the exteended Cabal cut comes out on blu ray later this year too.

Yes, I made a post in the suggestion thread a few months back requesting another attempt of a Nightbreed reunion for this year's Winter London Comic Con show - in line with the bluray release.

Bring back Clive Barker, cinematographer Robin Vidgeon (who didn't show up last year), Craig Sheffer (who cancelled last year), Doug Bradley etc.. Hell, why stop there, lets invite David Cronenberg (a headlining guest) and legendary music composer Danny Elfman. One can wish :P

  12. The only danger of that is that the line-up could be weakened, and people just pulled together because they were in the background of some film.

It needs at least one big named guest, a reunion, or some kind of thought behind it.

Rather than just a bunch of cheap names thrown together, and put in a corner and called 'horror zone'.

Agreed. For example, Anne Bobby wouldn't attract many alone but stick her in a proper Nightbreed reunion with Craig Sheffer, Doug Bradley etc then you'll have more of a success!

This worked very well when Showmasters invited Clive Barker for a Hellraiser reunion - please invite him back!!!!

In the 'guest suggestions' section, someone is suggesting a proper Nightmare on Elm St. reunion across all movies. This in theory wouldn't work by inviting a couple at a time, you'll need a proper reunion (with scheduled talks, photoshoots..) that will attract people from all over the world to come visit.

With that said, it comes with a (financial) risk and I can understand why this doesn't happen.
