  1. The problem is, as the old thread on this did to death, is the huge number of combinations just makes pleasing everyone totally impossible. You cannot have every combination going, so how do you choose? And how do you satisfy demand for thousands of people wanting autographs, thousands of people wanting solo photos, ticketed talks, and then combo photos to get in somewhere as well? It's just a logistical nightmare, and I think they did things right by not making things too complicated this first time round while they were getting a handle on working with another organiser and it being an official convention
  2. Presumably in part it's due to a perceived lack of response from SM. Not necessarily - people find it too easy to make complaints these day with the advent of Facebook and email complaints etc. Often the people causing the most trouble and making the most noise are the ones with not much to complain about (I work in customer service, so I know exactly what it's like). There is a certain type of person these days that are active on the internet and Facebook, and like to stir up trouble, often even if they weren't even involved in the event or issue they are talking about. Then you get the people who if even one thing didn't go the way they expected/wanted, they will make it their mission to make as much noise and bring as many people on the bandwagon as possible. Then there's the people that hold a grudge against a company or person/people for something in the past and make it their goal to cause as much trouble as possible for them at every possible turn. I'm not saying there aren't genuine issues here to be addressed, we all know there are, but there are also a great number of people who add to that weight just for the sake of trying cause problems. Also, people expecting an immediate response from an email right after an event of that size and then making a fuss because they didn't get it? What do they expect? The organisers were probably taking a well earned break for a day or 2 to let the dust settle, then have to wade through potentially stupid-amounts of emails.....
  3. Start by coming up with ideas that are feasible lol - 4D Borg from Vegas? Have you any idea how much something like that costs?? Even the sets are VERY expensive to recreate, or ship over, as very little of this kind of thing is available in the UK. While some of the ideas on here are great, people need to think about what they are suggesting first. Anything ridiculously expensive such as multiple large sets would be unlikely. Also, anything that would only be accessible by a few people at a time (set walk-rounds etc) are not ideal for a convention with 18000 people that all want a go. This is exactly why free talks have to be ticketed and why mainstream guests have to have so little time with each person in photoshoots and auto sessions - whatever you are suggesting needs to be able to be available for thousands of guests per day
  4. After spending £300 on a Gold pass. I was at expecting one due to how much I had spent. Expecting one doesn't mean you should get one. If it wasn't stated in the details of what you were paying for then they were under no obligation to provide one *shrug*
  5. Bear in mind all the props were shipped over from Germany I believe - that's not a small cost (never mind the risk of damage)
  6. For those complaining about the sound - did you actually go nearer the stage? All the posts I've seen so far were complaining about the sound in the TNG party, but this is the first time I've heard the same from the Friday night. Stood back from the stage (near the bar or entrance) the sound was pretty poor, as it would be in a huge cavernous room like that. However, move nearer the stage and it was perfectly fine. We just went down the left side of the crowd to get a bit closer instead of standing at the back where we couldn't see anything and it sounded great
  7. It amazes me that a lot of the people saying it was too expensive, are also the ones saying that they wanted more included in the ticket price rather than paying separately - this would mean a significantly higher entry cost, most likely then including things you DON'T want. I still think a low entry fee leaving everyone to pay for exactly what they wanted is the best option
  8. They were still on sale on Saturday morning I believe, but they did sell out at some point. As to it being included - I've been on these forums and on the website since the tickets went on sale, and at no point has it been said that one would be included, so I'm not sure why people would assume they were. Personally, I *hoped* I would get one for free, but because it wasn't stated I was only being optimistic lol
  9. Would be nice, but extremely unlikely for high-profile guests. If even 50 people wanted 10mins with Patrick Stewart for example, that would be over 8 hours, without even including time for breaks and swapping attendees. 50 people out of 10000 is a stupidly small number, and would leave hardly any time for photoshoots or talks.
  10. Congrats Jason on an awesome event. Yes there were problems, but it was obvious (to some of us at least) that measures were being taken to try and rectify some of the issues over the weekend. It's good to see a bit of insight in to what caused the issues too
  11. Interesting how we are now seeing conflicting views of whether LFCC was well run or not - I think that proves we have exactly the same as here, it is down to the individual, and whether it was purely the organisation or the individual's expectations. No way to please everyone, and as anyone who works in a customer service-driven industry (which I do) knows, the people who are disappointed/annoyed by something, regardless of justified or not, are generally the ones to make themselves heard, and very often to make mountains out of molehills and exaggerate. Not that I'm saying that's what people are doing here. Well, not everyone....
