  1. Hi, I ordered tickets for this weekend back on the 6th. The packing slip I was able to download on the orders section of the website say it should've been shipped on the 18th. So far, it hasn't turned up. There's always someone at the address to sign for it so I know it's not an issue with recorded delivery or anything, so I'm not sure what's happened to them. I've also sent an email to info@collectormania.com but as I know that quite a few of the relevant people also read the forums, and I've not yet got a response from the email, I thought I'd ask here. Is there a list I can go on to be allowed in without showing my ticket? Or would I be allowed in if I showed my order confirmation email?
  2. I notice we have a schedule for two stages, but there are three on the layout. What is the third stage for, and will a schedule be released ahead of time?
  3. The announcement has clinched it for me - on the Sunday I shall be going as The Eighth Doctor.
  4. I cannot believe this. He is the ONE guest that I've always said will guarantee my attendance to ANY convention I can afford to attend. He's my favourite Doctor, cannot. wait.
  5. Well, there's many different views on what constitutes cosplay. Some think any costume you wear and have fun in counts if you want it to, some say it's got to be something you've made yourself, some say its got to be something handmade but it's ok to commission it from someone else, and so on. In my view (and most people I speak to), if your son is wearing a costume and having fun, and calling it cosplay, who are we to disagree? I think your son should put the costume on and have a great time. Who will he be dressing as, out of interest?
  6. Weaponry question! One of my friends is going to be going as Lara Croft from the new Tomb Raider. She will be having the quiver on her back, but I wanted to check whether it would be ok to use real arrows with the points removed, or whether they'd have to be ones make of card or something. They'll be staying in the quiver all convention, and she won't have a working bow with her to shoot anyone with.
  7. Looks like I'm both short of money and also invited to a wedding on the Saturday. That means I'll probably just be rewearing my Cyclops, I'll save Joker for a later con. Edit: Rewearing Cyclops at LFCC I mean, I'm not going to the wedding in spandex!
  8. Ok, I've decided! Cyclops from Astonishing X-Men on Sunday, Joker from Mass Effect on Saturday (Mass Effect 3 uniform).
  9. My answer, if you're only planning on gong on the one day, would be to do Daenerys - the coat and the dress are going to be the same next convention as they are now, but your hair might well not be - it could be too long, too short, the wrong colour, and so on.
  10. My current plan is to be Cyclops on one day (Astonishing X-Men version, same one I wore last year) and something else on the other day, not sure what yet...
  11. Ohhh no. There'll be announcements right up until probably a few days before the event. Quite often the guests go into a lull before Collectormania (late May) because they're focussing on that event, and then LFCC gets tons announced afterwards. Everything's quiet now, but it'll pick up again.
  12. What costume do you have in mind?
  13. Great, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! And let us know what costumes you go for!
  14. Personally, I like to go in costume both days, if I have more than one costume that'd suit the convention. However, it's not unusual for people to only be able to afford to do one costume, or to prefer to have one day in costume and one day not (as you can sometimes be hindered by people asking for photos, and some people prefer to make sure they have a day they can see everything uninterrupted). On the other hand you also get people who only wear one costume, but wear it both days. I think it's great fun going in costume, and for me it really is part of the convention experience. However, it's by no means expected that people do so. But if you're not sure whether to go for it or not, I reckon take the plunge and give it a go.
  15. My advice is to talk to people! I've never met an unfriendly person at a convention, everyone there has always been lovely. I'd add that it's a good idea to take your own food into the venue; the food sellers there can be rather expensive, as you would expect. And make sure that if you're in costume, you plan what food you take accordingly - this year I was Cyclops from X-Men, and I packed crisps not thinking about the fact that I had gloves (attached to my suit) so I'd have to either get my costume covered in crumbs or take off the top half of my costume to eat. This year, I'll consider food more carefully!
  16. Oh wow, planning already! I must admit I am too. No solid plans yet, but I'm hoping to do another Cyclops costume - this time, I want to do his original costume from the first X-Men comics, and get four others to join me as Iceman, Marvel Girl, Angel and Beast, also in their original costumes. Maybe an Xavier too, if I can find anyone willing!
  17. Need to update my cosplay island account with pictures, as I don't think I've put any on there, but my account is at http://cosplayisland.com/profile/view/jjpprob
  18. Has anybody got any photos of my Cyclops costume? I was the Astonishing X-Men variant, the one with the navy blue costume and the hooded mask. Thanks!
  19. Does anybody have any pictures of my Cyclops? I was the Astonishing X-Men version, the one with the hooded mask.
  20. I love having my photo taken when I'm in cosplay. If you want a photo, ask, or if there's already a group of people all taking photos of a cosplayer it's usually fine to join in (not that there's usually a crowd around me, but some cosplayers do get that). As said above though, some people get creeped out if people take photos of them without asking first. I don't think there's anyone I'd say "no, no photos" to, but it's just nice to know who's taking photos, and to make sure that you're ready for one, and posed correctly etc.
  21. I'd like to add, congratulations on your wedding! (I'm assuming you've just got married, rather than this being a second honeymoon or anything)
  22. Good luck, Echo! Don't be nervous, I'm sure you'll look amazing in it! If you're on your own and would rather not be, you should ask around on the forums; I'm sure there'll be people willing to hang out with you. Have fun with your first cosplay!
