Same weekend as the World Cup Final
Gordon The Gopher replied to Daniel's topic in London Film and Comic Con 2014
I think that is being quite naive, whilst in the 'real world' yes it is just a sport - however it shouldn't be underestimated the influence it could have on attendees or guests. Should England make the final - do you really think any British guests will want to miss it? You can kiss all the sporting guests goodbye especially as it would be the first final England have made since 1966 - the whole country will be watching the game! Even if England don't make the final, the world cup final itself is the most viewed thing on television everytime it comes around because it is such a spectacle. There is a reason why TV channels change their schedules around when there is a big football game on TV, as they can't compete with it. Whilst there will be a large chunk of fans going that won't care about football or the final if England are in it, I'm sure the guests will. I remember seeing an interview with about 10 of the Game of Thrones cast members and they were all saying how they were massive football fans and had all planned to go to an England game last year together. If you think they would turn up for a convention and miss the final then I think you would be mistaken. The world cup final becomes an all day occasion, not just a 90min game on TV. -
Same weekend as the World Cup Final

Quite poor planning to be honest. Especially in terms of getting guests. Particularly British guests, if they are any sort of football fan then they won't be going to LFCC. It is THE biggest match in football that only comes round once every four years -

Cheap Hotels Very Close To The Convention
Gordon The Gopher replied to gazosullivan's topic in London Film and Comic Con 2013
My advice this close to the date would be to check on homeandaway.co.uk - its people who rent out private flats/houses per night/weekend etc. If there is a few of you going and don't mind sharing then it can work out quite cheap. We booked one last week Thurs - Sun that sleeps 5 and was £350 for all three nights (about £23pp per night). the prices on the site are a rough guide but the good thing is that when you email, you are contacting the owner direct rather than a company so plenty room to negotiate. -
E-Mailing the online store
Gordon The Gopher replied to Queen_Sindel's topic in London Film and Comic Con 2013
I have been emailing in once every 3 weeks for the last few months now about something else and yet to receive a reply. Its the correct email and they are being delivered. I assume Showmasters don't always reply to everyone? -
I agree with all the shouts for Lost guests! Jorge Garcia and Henry Ian Cuisick would be amazing

Has Mr T ever done a Showmasters event? He would be utterly brilliant, whenever you see him on TV etc or in interviews he is so funny and by all accounts a nice guy. He isn't really up to much anymore apart from advertising etc so I'm sure he may be within budget and would surely be a huge draw? Who else in the petition for Mr T?
-
Yeah some ex wwf/wwe wrestlers would be good rather than TNA. Roddy Piper would be amazing! American Pie guests would be amazing esp John Cho
-
Also Mr T would be the best guest ever!!

It would be great to get guests on from the latest TV shows just to be released such as Revolution, Last Resort etc. The shows all air this month so book them in before their prices sky rocket

I did say something at talk I was at and got a shrug of the shoulders from the woman in blue tshirt. Also got told to email in when I complained on the day

The Entertainment Media Show 6th and 7th of Oct
Gordon The Gopher replied to showmasters's topic in Entertainment Media Show
So whats the main differences between this and LFCC? -
I think most has been covered already however just wanted to raise one piece of feedback for the crew. Before anyone jumps down on me,i understand all are volunteers and under circumstances majority coped very well. However let's not beat around the bush here, I'm sure Showmasters require honest feedback otherwise there is no chance to improve. Some of the crew were clearly way out of their depth and had no clue what was going on,and as such communication was poor. I heard on about 5 different occasions from different crew members "I'm not sure,I don't know sorry"or words to that affect.
