  1. People were probably staying around longer because this is the first time a comic con of this size has been to a location that large in the North East for a very long time (if ever!) So obviously people wanted to stay around and experience as much as possible. Also Saturday had a great list of guests and the TARDIS shoots with the Doctor's.

I don't think a reduction is needed, just a better layout. The aisles were far to close together an the placement of the Ghostbusters and the Transfomers car was ill fated because as soon as everyone saw them they stopped to look, naturally. Yet they were right next to the entrance to the main hall, and on a bend. Just give them their own area away from busy high traffic areas.

  2. I can honestly say that over the 2 days I attended this event I never once encountered any problems with the staff or the running of the event...Other convention goers however were another story. I wasn't aware that there were so many ignorant cosplayers around these days, pushing and shoving there way past wheelchair users was a disgrace, especially when they were struggling to get through the aisles on Saturday. Also stopping in the middle of a very busy aisle simply to have a photo taken was just pure and unadulterated stupidity.

One slight piece of advice for next time, don't put the Ghostbusters guys right next to one of the entrances/exits and on a bend to the main hall. Because they had so much amazing stuff on display, loads of people would just stop and clog up the aisle. Maybe give them their own area away from a busy intersection from the entrance doors next time :)

  3. You cant really do an event like this without the 2 main stars of the show, Benedict and Martin. Promoting an event like this and just having one or two guests who had bit parts in one episode would be a little silly. I believe Showmasters will try everything they can to get the big stars :) Its likely that with this being a 3 day event the big stars will only be able to make one day, and boy will that be a busy day! lol

  4. They were rude, but if there is a Health and Safety Reason ( which I suspect there could be ) for not queuing or sitting at the door, it's their responsibility to put approp signs up advising of this.

After those queuing took over the Sunday morning situation, the guy that told us to move wasn't seen again....

Either way, I suspect there'll be more than a few words said about the Earls Court Security team behind the scenes.

The thing is an hour or two later when we returned to EC LOADS of people were sitting on the steps and no one was told to move...so what exactly was the difference? ;) I think some people just like to know they can tell people to move and they have to...power crazy

I don't think it's a huge stretch to imagine that any large public building has to have numerous plans in place for emergency evacuation, and that one of the legal requirements for continued licensing and operating of the venue is that exits which may potentially be used in an emergency must be kept clear - meaning not stacking piles of furniture in front of them, or allowing people to block them - had there been a need for rapid evacuation you only need a couple of people to be a bit slow getting off the steps and you could end up with a tragic pile-up with people being trampled etc.

I don't think that needs signs, I think it's plain common sense.

It's also not a huge stretch to imagine that some people may be more efficient or unforgiving at enforcing that policy. You might view it as power crazy. others might view it as just being more responsible or aware of the potential problems. I suspect that were you trapped inside a burning building and couldn't get out because the doors were jammed with trampled bodies where the fiirst wave of people rushing to get out had fallen over people blocking the exit, you'd be cursing the fact that there hadn't been some "power crazy" person keeping the exit clear...

Your missing the point. If it was sssssoooo important to keep the doors clear then why only 2 hours later didnt the same very rude member of staff not move everyone again? The simple fact is that the building wasnt burning down,i wasnt on fire and people were not falling over anyone to get out. The plain and simple fact is the guy clearly had an attitude problem and loved telling people in the rudest way possible to move. All the guy had to do is ask people politely if they could move further down the steps....it really is that simple. See, no burning buildings or people on fire trying to get out. Or was there somekind of Zombie invasion taking place at Earls court that yourself and the rude EC staff member would like to prepare us for?

  5. Lack of seating was a problem for us too...and when we had to resort to sitting on the floor next to a wall we were told to move by SM staff. The only seats we could find were constantly taken by groups.

Where were you sitting? Me and a friend sat in one place for about an hour, and didn't have anyone telling us to move. Then I sat somewhere while she went to get her DT autograph too

Near where the hot dogs were being sold, where te comic artists were.
