  1. I booked over the phone and it cost me £70 per night and the email conformation i got said £70 per night. Is that for a single room though? As I will be booking a twin. I wsnt to use the website as I work all day and can't be messing about making calls but if they're going to charge more on the site, then I'll have no choice I guess.
  2. I tried to book using the link but the Massive Events website states its £88 a night but the Radisson booking system says £88 excluding VAT. I'm going to try phoning to book, if its £88 including VAT over the phone, then perhaps Radisson's online booking is incorrect. I certainly don't want to pay more for the 'privilege' of booking online.
  3. I think that having the photo shoot rooms so close together was both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you didn't have far to go, a curse because it just meant that the corridor was a sea of bodies and figuring out where to stand was made more difficult! As for the photo shoots all happening on the same day... In the past I've appreciated that because I like to get my photo signed by the guest but because the photos weren't ready until the evening it meant photos on Saturday and autos on Sunday. This is no longer an issue so dividing up the photo shoots seems like it might be the best plan. Either way I am attending 8.1 thanks to my best friend buying tickets so it will be interesting to see what lessons have been learned and how these issues are resolved.

    Thank you!

I had a fantastic weekend and the crew are a huge part of making that happen, so thank you. Special thanks to the guest liaison with Dan Payne at the cocktail party as he encouraged Dan to change sides of the table halfway through his time with us so everyone got to speak with him. Don't know your name but thank you! Also thank you to those manning the auto queues Sunday because there were a few unhappy people and you all handled it with professionalism and understanding. The room was hot and tempers were a little frayed for some attendees I think as I heard more than one raised voice!
  5. I had a gold 63 and had the same issues as others have already mentioned. I have now attended 5 Chevron events and never have I felt so rushed and there have been bigger events run by Massive Events too. I think that both attendees and organisers alike have learned lessons from this event. Firstly the room for auto signing was way too small. Secondly the group I was in was called for both Dave H and Paul at around the same time on the Sunday, both queues were massive and a member of the crew advised us to go to get other autos first. I suffer with a bad back and by the time we finished getting our photos on Saturday there was very little time left to even attempt to get autos so we made the decision to get all our autos on Sunday. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and next year I will be more inclined to bite the bullet, grit my teeth and ignore the pain! As I say, lessons learned and that's what this is all about. Providing feedback and hoping that things are done better next time. My auto with Paul was rushed as I was one of the last through and the poor guy was done. He spelt my name wrong, but hey, these things happen and I just laughed about it! The crew were polite and helpful under pressure, something that I really appreciated.
  6. Thank you Too Tall, I will make sure to speak to you or one of the crew if I have problems. Honestly I am hoping it will be better by then but there's no guarantee and I'm also on heavy pain meds which make me dizzy, not a great combination for standing around! Lol Thank you to everyone else for your reassurance as well.
  7. Thanks for your responses Sheppy dreamer and Bandcat. I am just aware that I am not 'disabled' as such and don't want people thinking I am taking the mickey!
  8. Hi, I am going to be attending this event with a friend but I am now a bit worried because I have intermittent back problems and its chosen now to rear its ugly head. Basically standing is an issue and having attended Chevron events before I know there's a lot of standing! Will it be possible for me to get help if it becomes necessary? I don't mean queue jumping either but even the availability to sit while my friend queues and then I can join her when she gets near the front would be good. Not sure how it would work while waiting to go in for talks but would definitely help and ease my concerns. Thanks!
  9. OK, would seem I'm in the minority here because I actually enjoyed the music on Friday night! I'm not one for doing the 'con' dances like Star Trekking and Doctor Who, though I find them entertaining to watch. With a bad back anything that could end in me getting squashed or face planting just isn't going to happen. I have found them a bit repetitive in the past though. My friend and I both had a good dance on Friday night, but less so on Saturday night (though back pain probably played a small part in that if I'm honest). I guess the answer is a good mix of the 'traditional' Chevron and the sort of things that were played on Friday night so that everyone can enjoy 'throwing some shapes on the dance floor'! Yes I did just type that! I don't go out a huge amount and I love to be able to dance, the same as everyone else and would be disappointed to not hear at least some of the music that caused me to not care that the dance floor was empty and get up and dance anyway! The consumption of a bottle of wine at the cocktail party had absolutely nothing to do with this of course!
  10. I'm pretty sure my mate would say I screamed too! What a great line up so far. Sad to only get 1 event a year since I enjoy the cons so much, but grateful it's still running!
  11. Can we please have Lou Diamond Phillips? I asked him via Twitter if he would attend a sci-fi convention and below is the reply I got. Lou Diamond Phillips †@LouDPhillips All they gotta do is ask, schedule notwithstanding.
  12. I voted none for all of the above. I would like to see a con for the crime shows. Let's face it there are a lot of them out there and it could cover multiple shows: NCIS NCIS LA Numb3rs Criminal Minds Hawaii 5-0 CSI CSI NY CSI Miami The list is long and most of the guests have starred in other things. I also exchanged Twitter messages with Alimi Ballard from Numb3rs earlier his replies are below after I explained it would be all about meeting the fans. AlimiBallard alimi ballard That sounds kinda LOVELY my friend!! Do tell... AlimiBallard alimi ballard Would simply LOVE that. :) AlimiBallard alimi ballard My PASSPORT stands at the ready. :) So come on Showmasters I bet Alimi Ballard isn't the only actor on a crime show that would love to attend an event!

    Thankyou

Hi, I am new to Massive Events cons, but not new to conventions as a whole. A friend has been to several Twilight events and she told me that RDA had been lined up for this one. I came out of "convention retirement" immediately! I have to say I wasn't at all disappointed. I've had a fantastic weekend and been very pleasantly surprised by the guests. RDA was just the friendliest bloke and completely down to earth. (He gave fantastic hugs too!) I am booked for a Gold ticket to the next one, something that was debated with my friend and her credit card! Thank you Massive Events for doing something to get me out of "retirement" and back to the fun! Great weekend all round.
