  1. WOW...an amazing guest. Photoshoot please

    Yes photoshoot would be great!!!

    Great prediction @iii BTW:

:-) Thought it was worth an ask, SM probably knew about LaMotta being over anyway!! Just pleased he's coming! We have to make the most of great men like him and a few others mentioned abover for being in good health to do such events.

  2. Absloute Great, you have done yourselves proud on this one, thank you very much!!!

England's World Middleweight Champion Terry Downes, who also defeated the great Sugar Ray Robinson on two occasions is a possibility? The two men would go great together!!!

Or Carmen Basilio or Gene Fullmer, both from the same era!!

    Thanks again Collectomania!!

  3. Nice shout iiii. He has been known to do these types of events in the past and would be a massive draw.

The only problem I can see is he is, to simply put it, an elderly gent. To have him sat at an outdoor venue in our type of summer may not be the best for him.

I do think he would be massive and he does do these kind of events for sure! Just thought it would seem a shame for him not to be approached about it as he would be over for the Milton keynes Collectomania, they have promised big sports guests, cant get much bigger than this in my opinion.

Regarding weather and so on I guess that would be down to LaMotta and his team...

Heres hoping - Fingers are crossed!

  4. Hi

I know there as of yet hasnt been any sports guest announcements, I have just heard that "The Raging Bull" and the boxer based on Robert Deniro's classis movie Raging Bull starts a UK tour end of May beginning of June, he will be in the Uk for the event and would appeal to both the movie audience and the sporting audience as he was one of only a handful to defeat the legend, Sugar Ray Robinson.

Please please try to get him, Epic wouldnt cover it!!

  5. Agreed, Smokin' Joe Frazier all the way, no disrespect to the other boxers attending but there is no big names like Ray Leonard or Frazier, surely a past great name would be a crownd puller..

    Frazier, Frazier, Frazier!!

  6. There have been a few derogatory remarks on here regarding Sugar Ray Leonard and the fact that he is no longer able to attend Sportsmania since he is not now making his trip to England.

First, I want to make it clear that I am not having a go at anyone here. I just want to say that none of us know the full story behind why he is unable to make it and I prefer to think the better of people rather than just assume the worse.

I definitely hope that we will be able to work with Sugar Ray in the future. He is a legend of the sport and while I understand that some people are disappointed he can no longer make the show I would ask that we all please still show some respect here on the forum.

Whatever his reasons for not being able to make it, we wish him the best and hope to see him in the future.

    Thanks for listening and understanding!

    Mark :D

    To Mark (Massive Events)

I would like to say thank you for confirming 100% that Sugar Ray is now unable to attend, it certainly is a shame and I for one hope to get the chance to meet the Legend in the future.

This just leaves me with two main questions which would be great if you could answer:

The first, do you have any plans to replace in my opinion the only real reason for attending? If there is not going to be another big US World Champion Boxer coming I won't be attending and I feel that many others wont either.

Secondly, what will happen the the £60 which I paid to have two photos taken at the photoshoot with him??

I look forward to your reply Mark.

    Best wishes

  7. Fingers crossed he's still coming. A few of my boxing buddies have told me he's no longer coming to the UK at all! :( Really hope I'm wrong

It's not looking good due to him cancelling other things in his diary.

For all of us who are making a long journey to see the great man and who have also paid for a photoshoot with him should really be getting as confirmation of if he's still coming or not, the organisers will know one way or another if he's already cancelled two of his tour dates...his mamagers will have let Sm know too..surely...

Will be a nig blow to the event if the main attraction isn;t going to be there that's for sure.

I know a similar thing happened with another event when Hector Camacho cancelled and was left with hardly any boxers...

Edit: Sorry, but I have made a minor edit to your post as other events are not allowed to be mentioned on this forum.

  8. As it says in the title..I would love to meet either men, Bruno or Eubank, I know Frank has done this show before and with the other boxing guests Im sure he would be a great hit failing this Eubank or Michael Watson would be fantastic guys to meet.

Any chance of any of these guys happening?

    Please do try.

    iiii

  9. To go into a completely different league and era how about asking some off the all time great from the late great Sugar ray Robinson era, Jake LaMotta (who had the Raging Bull with Robert Deniro starred in) also on top of Lamotta I think it would be brilliant and once in a life time to meet Carmen Basilio and Gene Fullmer..truly great men and great Champs. If these guys aren;t a huge draw to any boxing enthusiast I dont know who would be..

LaMotta has been over to the Uk in the past but I think that it would be a first form Basillio and Fullmer...

Please do take into consideration those three great names.

    Best wishes as always

  11. After yesterdays announcements Im sure all of us boxing fans were hoping for at least one more boxer to be added..possibly a British Champ seems most popular from the forums and past events i would also agree with that..

Can I ask if you are looking into getting any more boxers? You dont have to name them just would be good to know if there are anymore in the pipe line?

    Thanks in advance

    Best wishes

  12. Hi,

I have a quick question for SM, I have paid for a photoshoot with Sugar Ray Leonard, I was wondering how long he will be singing for and if the photoshoot photos will be ready in time for Leonard to sign them?

Also, will there be any photos of him to sign like the gloves at the event?

Please get back to me SM.

    Best wishes

  13. Wow, very impressive, I look forward to meeting him. Would be awesome if you could pull of Marvin Hagler to go with him, imagine that for a photoshoot..

Please say there's going to be a few more boxers announced in the coming weeks? Eubank, Bruno or Hatton would be brilliant.

Many thanks for the great guest.

  14. bigcat - I don't realistically see why Hagler would never attend an event like this, he would 100% have a great fan following and he has started to do various dinner evenings in UK, he was actually over here a couple of weeks ago with Henry Cooper doing an evening..also for the event organisers, a link to Hagler's peronal website and a request form for him to make appearance:

    http://www.marvelousmarvin.com/contact.php

Buster Douglas would be great too, not many people can claim to have beaten Tyson in his prime, besides Holyfield.

I'm sure Michael Moorer and Larry Holmes would be great from that era of fighters too.

Anyone else got any feedback in regards to the boxers??

Again, if there are no other please please bring Henry Cooper.

    Best wishes
