  1. I loved TBBT as well, although I'm well aware of its many faults. Your comment about The Expanse reminds me of the incredibly long queue for Armin Shimerman's Quark photoshoot at DSTE a while back. Got chatting with other attendees (as you do), and at least two recommended I watch that show (and some con friends of mine backed them up at subsequent events). It starts slowly in S1, but keep at it if you can - it starts off as one thing and ends up being something completely different. I absolutely loved it - one of the best shows I've watched recently (so glad it's survived cancellation and is coming back in December!). The only other show I've really liked recently is Instinct. I completely agree with the criticism that Alan Cumming doesn't have the physical presence to convince as the character they originally wanted him to portray, but fortunately they stepped away from that aspect and let him shine in the ways he does best. And it was shot in New York, one of my favourite places (I've actually walked past the building they used as police HQ, although I remembered it from the remake of The Tomorrow People). And then of course they cancelled it. *sulks* I do still love Grey's Anatomy, mind. It's mindless fluff for most of the time, and then it just sucker-punches you in the gut. I think I've cried more over that show than any other (including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Joss Whedon knew how to bring The Pain). Grey's is coming back, right? I'm too scared to check right now. Oooh, and I like The Blacklist. That's still going. There. And The Rookie was enjoyable. Hoping that comes back too (haven't heard anything to the contrary). Conclusion: I really am not watching a lot of TV these days. And I used to watch a LOT. I don't know whether you have a point there, or it's just my advancing age. p.s. do NOT watch Neighbours. Natedammit is being a bad bear again.
  2. Is there any particular reason why the dates and locations of each event are not showing under the main title any more? I waited for a bit in case it was a glitch, but they don't seem to be coming back, and I haven't spotted any posts on the subject.
  3. Oooo! I really don't want to go to this event, but you're making it VERY difficult for me. (Hoping she doesn't cancel this time.)
  4. That's the thing. You have to decide for yourself whether it's worth the extra cost. And sometimes, oh, yes, it is.
  5. Hayden Christensen. I really wanted to meet him, but he would have taken me well over my budget. *sigh*
  6. OK, here are mine (I can't remember how many I can get in here at once, so will attempt the whole lot and split if required): Ian Whyte (7'1" to my 5'4") Gina Torres Brendan Fraser Ian Somerhalder Carrie-Ann Moss Zachary Quinto Peter Serafinowicz Peter pretending to feel up my bicep (tee hee) Iron Fist group shoot Tom Ellis Lucifer Wings shoot Ethan Phillips Tara Fitzgerald
  7. I share mine with family and friends. My parents recognize several guests I've met (my Dad in particular as he's a pretty big geek himself), and my other half and friends are mostly geeks too (a lot of them go to cons/signing events anyway, and others still get it, even if they wouldn't fork out for a guest themselves). I've never had anyone disparage my collecting habits.
  8. I'd met Jessica and Finn before for GoT, but wanted to show them all some love for Iron Fist as well, so got autos from all three, plus the group shot (the latter is one of my favourites from the weekend as I actually managed to ask for a pose and we're all grinning in it!). Very glad I met them again. The talk was fun too.
  9. On the whole, the GP worked well for me, and I was waved through quickly once I got to entry area H. The only small niggle was the lumping together of collection of DPs for last name S-Z in with the collection for GP queue, so there was a big queue for those, while the DP collections for last names A-H had hardly anyone in it (at least when I went to that queue for my DPs having got my GP, that bit was quick). That was on Friday (glad I decided to go on that day when it was relatively quiet!), so not sure if that was tweaked for the Sat/Sun.
  10. If that was Fri and/or Sat, that would have been Phil. He does do a marvellous job organizing the photoshoot queues, which is why he often ends up in those areas! Just to add my own appreciation for all the crew. My particular sympathies go to those who were working in the pits of hell (aka the main guest signing area - I was absolutely melting in there, but at least I could escape from time to time), but as usual, everyone I met was friendly and helpful.
  11. All my guest meets were very pleasant (loads of personalization I hadn't expected!), although big shout-outs have to go to the following: The Iron Fist group - they were cracking me up in their photoshoot with the stuff they were saying (and of course they were happy to do poses). I'd met Jessica and Finn before and liked them a lot, so was very happy they were working together in Iron Fist, ergo extremely peeved that it was cancelled, so wanted to show them some love for that. Sacha was really nice too. Tom Ellis - I was NOT going for a hug in the Lucifer Wings shoot, honest, but it looked like so much fun, so I just asked and he said, "Bring it in," and I love the result - very dramatic with the white wings and black background. I wasn't expecting anything from Ian Somerhalder, but he hugged me in the photoshoot, which was adorable. I adore The Mummy and The Mummy Returns so meeting Brendan Fraser was such a treat, and his voice! I managed not to drool, but it was a close thing... Ian Whyte obligingly went back-to-back with me for our photoshoot. He's 7'1"; I'm 5'4". You can imagine what that looked like. I only wish the photographer had taken the photo portrait-style, but I still love it. Peter Serafinowicz! He recognized me from the auto session when he walked into the photoshoot and gave me a thumbs-up (always nice to be remembered), and he was doing some great poses. Ours included (I'd bought a Sunday shot as I thought Friday's was going to be refunded, found that Fri/Sun's were going to be honoured and thought, "Bugger", but went for it, and the second involved your basic heroic bicep flex, except that he changed position at the last moment to pretend to feel up my arm muscles and I was just wetting myself). Definitely my favourite guest of the weekend.
  12. He was rather adorable. I was going for a standard vanilla pose and he put his arms around me, so I froze thinking a) I'm WAY too old to be hugging him (wrong: he's actually only eight years younger than I, but doesn't look it, dammit), and b) the camera's about to go off, must stay in position. Ack! Still, it was very nice.
  13. Agreed - I was pleasantly surprised by the gifts this year (Zachary's had some great headphones - my other half road-tested them last night and I couldn't hear a thing), and I'll definitely be using the Firefly wallet that came with Gina's DP.
  14. So glad I ended up buying two photoshoots in the end - they are probably going to be my favourites of the whole event! Had such a laugh.
  15. When I read elsewhere that Fri tickets were being refunded and looked on Eventbrite to get a Saturday ticket, there weren't any, so bought a Sunday one. And now I've seen this. Ooooops! Eh, maybe I'll do two poses...
  16. One of my favourite actors - I was so happy to meet him at LFCC in 2016, even if he did reduce me to a dribbling idiot when he spoke to me in the photoshoot...
  17. Thanks for the addition of the Sun schedule, and glad to see that the sheets are normal size now...
  18. Great to get an idea of what's what this early, thanks. I'll have a squint over it later.
  19. If it was a mod, I wonder that too. It's possible they posted in good faith, but either way whoever started this rumour is an [expletive deleted] of the first order.
  20. Someone commented before the thread disappeared that a fake announcement that Chris was coming was doing the rounds - I sincerely hope not!
  21. Note: he does have a DP (I was checking for one on Eventbrite as I couldn't believe he wouldn't have one).
