  1. An independent Scotland will NOT have any border controls, this is a fabricated scare tactic by the "Better Together" campaign. We already have the Scottish pound mate, it's exactly the same as the English one except for the fact outside Scotland it's treated like it's not legal tender. We are highly unlikely to ever use any other currency than the Pound (£) and it's always carry the same worth regardless of where the coins/notes are issued. There's no reason why there wouldn't be anymore CMG's though obviously that is in the hands of ShowMasters though hopefully it would give them more opportunity to grow and create more Scottish conventions. I wouldn't ever use the possibility of none (if that was to happen, don't forget there will always be other events) as a reason to be against independence.
  2. Ah cool, i had no idea what this was till I looked it up and watched a video of a completed version, very creative concept. Asking each guest should be fun, though to solve the problem of mixing up I would ask them to sign your auto book first then tell them you have another book but this one is for them to "wreck" in a creative way. Also you could ask a few folk you bump into be it people from this forum or just totally random people, I reckon you'll get the most interesting results this way. I would be more than happy to help with this.
  3. I've started think a lot more like this recently too, after having a huge inner debate about if I wanted to go see Stan Lee, I had the tickets all booked up and everything then realised, hang on obviously it's a big deal to me but to Stan I'm just another guy in the line he won't particularly remember me out of all the other fans. I then came to the conclusion that I would rather meet any famous person in a natural way rather than just hound them for a photo/auto as I know it's not what I would do in the event I did bump into them, so why go out my way to do it for these kind of shows? I don't collect autos or anything so it seems weird that I do it for these things. So yeah from now on my focus is on the event and being more social throughout the whole day.
  4. Have to agree, some good guests and has the beginnings of a really strong line-up though just not feeling it as much this year. I think a lot of people will compare this year directly with last year. Though we do have plenty of time yet so I'm not too worried , but just really anticipating some bigger names.
  5. Last year I missed any free ones as they all happened at the early stages of the event opening well before the average attendee could get there. If the show was fair they would be spread out more for the whole day for everyone to enjoy.
  6. A1 in Braehead is always a good choice, I didn't get there till around 3:30 and still got a good 20 odd comics. Forbidden is notorious for only stocking a set amount of FCBD titles, last year there was only 4 different choices.
  7. Ah cool, he was the voice of Aragog (Hagrids giant pet spider) in Harry Potter too
  8. It's pretty damn good, I'm loving it so far.
  9. The Tardis within the Tardis, that's always bound to make your head hurt!
  10. My guess would be a replica. Pretty decent one though.
  11. What news has not been updated?
  12. Welcome to the Glasgow forums jade, great to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your first con and have decided to take the plunge and go in costume. Will it be a Tardis dress then? Not really seen any done (apart from pictures), it's quite a cool and creative idea. Hope you consider flashing lights and sounds too, that would be awesome.
  13. This is actually quite an interesting guest, he's worked on quite a few movies too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Simpson_(comics) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0990852/
  14. Yeah last years super busy crowd ment i didn't get a chance to have a chestbuster photo, did look awesome though so a hive would be really cool.
  15. Yeah i received an update via e-mail with a broken link, so I'm guessing it was done in error. [E-Mail content;] showmasters has just posted a new topic entitled "Latest Guest Announcement - PETER PURVES" in forum "Collectormania Glasgow 2014". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Latest Guest Announcement - Peter Purves Attending: Saturday Autograph/PhotoShoot Price: £10 http://homepage.ntlworld.com/forbidden_zone/Colourise/Index_files/image017.jpg http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsP/tve14155-19660305-98.jpg The Office (TV series) PETER Purves 1964-1967 Z Cars (TV series) Cord / Bus Conductor 1967 Girl in a Black Bikini (TV series) PETER Jarrett 1966 Court Martial (TV series) Lt. 16. As it's an official Sherlock convention, I don't see why it would. So, does that mean we won't see Robert Downey Jr. there as well!!?!
  17. Less obvious ones; Mark Gatiss ~ Mycroft Holmes Amanda Abbington ~ Mary Watson Louise Brealey ~ Molly Hooper Vinette Robinson ~ Sergeant Donovan Lars Mikkelsen ~ Charles Magnussen
  18. Definitely some Harry Potter stars would be amazing, especially some of the professors.
  19. Hello and welcome along to the Glasgow forums, always great to see another Horror fan as I'm sure you can tell there's plenty of us on here. Not so sure i would agree on "hate" of remakes it's a far too strong a word to use i feel. Though i do concur the majority are weak there's definitely a decent number of truly great remakes, just a few examples that spring to mind; Night of the Living Dead (1990), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Fly (1986) and of course The Thing (1982) all prove there can be vast improvements made on an original concept. I trust Clive Barker will deliver a Hellraiser that'll create a fresh and exciting take to the franchise without taking away what made the originals so fantastic.
  20. If you only attend one event this year make sure it's Zagreus House, THE convention of the year!!!
  21. Yep, I'm afraid so your a year late though it would be great to see more dwarves (or anyone else for that matter) from Lord of the Rings and/ or The Hobbit.
  22. I have mixed feelings about sport guests, it's fair enough if it's a bigger convention though i feel GCM is more sci-fi, fantasy & horror orientated to be honest.
  23. Yeah, my budget was stretched to the max last year at the cost of not having quite as much to play with at the GCM. The line-up really is always impressive though so very tempting.
