  1. They've only been on sale a month and half have gone already? Do you reckon the sales speed will slow down now or speed up? and is there any chance that if they sell so fast Massive events will increase the amount of tickets? I ask as you obviously have much more experience here than a lot of the rest of us do.
  2. Would Jack Coleman class as a Top Tier or Lower Tier Guest? At LFCC he was charging less for photo sessions and signings than the other 3 but in the show he is surely one of the top players. Definitely the most interesting to watch IMHO and with him being so fan friendly too
  3. Was this guy only there on Saturday, I was only there Sunday and didn't see him. Looking at the videos he is brilliant.
  4. How long have they been on sale?
  5. I like those too, so I can say look I met this guy here. It makes it less what I refer to as generic. and by generic I mean that all the event photos I've seen look the same. It's not like I'm not going to get another photosession if they don't change it. Its just more likely that I would get a photosession if it represented the event it was at. I just looked over my photos again and I don't dislike them as much as I thought I did I think we can both agree on the lighting and I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree on what makes a better setting.
  6. Its not that its bad having those blue backgrounds, It just could be better whether people are looking for it or not It "could" be better. The result of better work is better word of mouth and more people wanting it in the future. I just want to clarify Are people saying that the current plain blue background is better than having something with any kind of features even if its just event logos or just that they aren't bothered?
  7. Yes that's what matters "to you" I personally find that with photography I need it to have meaning, character and a story. It makes it more like art, the ability to study a photograph is its essence I want something to put on my wall to look at and study the detail of for my friends to look at. That is what matters to me. and a LOT of others Don't get me wrong These aren't "bad" in blue the whole point of starting this topic is that i feel it can be better - much better at literally no cost. I think having a flag as a BG and have it signed and auctioned could even make a lot more money for showmasters.
  8. Enough to differentiate it from another event. Just thought I'd link to a video I just watched, the focal point here is the background its plain, its matte its simple and professional and just has enough of a hint to show what the event is about (It can be blue if you like) I just think it does enough to say where it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SihzEukioUM...ted&search=
  9. (Not quoting the pictures and everything to save up space in the thread!) I personally prefer the first shot, the one you've done as an example of what needs to be improved. To me, the second shot is too yellow and I prefer the sharpess of the first. Other than the fact that the background reflects and is too distracting as a photograph (something that wouldn't be an issue with the standard blue background), the first one is more attractive to me, as a longtime con attendee who has hundreds of pictures with guests. I totally agree that it is yellowy but that was due to poor lighting, the colour tones look warmer when the camera cant get enough light from the scene. The example was to show how softer studio lighting would be and it doesn't bleach your face like the 1st shot It stops the light areas being really light and the dark areas being dark. If I had studio lighting It would not have been yellow. and as for the background the example was only to show how having objects will add more interes. using a photo was a bad example as it did reflect due to the glass, but overall having "something" in the background made the photograph less like a passport photo. Having a sharp object in the background is distracting and is not a good photograph but the balance is to have the subject sharp and the background out of focus gives a great shot of the subject in its surroundings which will give depth and meaning to the subject (something that cant be achieved on a single colour wall) I can admit that the examples above with the picture and the heroes wall are OTT but the last 2 i posted where its a plain wall but simply has a logo on it just adds enough to show where you are at when the photo was taken and makes it less generic think as a long time photographer with 100's of happy clients. What did you think of the above example with having a themed background instead of plain blue or the idea of just having a logo wall? you say it is distracting but please trust me if its simple enough or out of focus i can promise you it helps theguest and you stand out.
  10. Me to, would i be able to wear my sword i bought at LFCC?
  11. Does anyone else feel like it was only a week ago? I have done so much in the time since last week that I can hardly remember it. Ive done a weeks work and with all the posting on the boards time has just draged. perhaps I should stop smoking? does anyone else feel like It was months ago?
  12. Yeah that's called marketing speak, purposefully using phrases that don't actually confirm or deny anything. It allows people who think positively to think its what they think it is and it leaves the people who think negatively to be skeptic. Guess I just put too much trust in people. Sometimes the glass is half empty, sometimes It's half full.
  13. Agreed, if you don't like paying £20 for a signature then do some more research and find out where they will be in person, I worked my *rse off on-line to find here the cast would be as part of their world tour and we met them outside of the This Morning studio in london on Saturday. Milo and Adrian weren't asking for anything for a signature and even thanked me for buying the DVD. And it is perfectly acceptable for show masters to want to make money. they aren't a charity they are a business. the problem I have seen however is when you pay £20 to join a cash flow production line and the guest just signs. I didn't think that was what I was paying for, I expected for the guest to at least look at me so i can say thankyou, Jack Coleman even tried to steal my pen!!! I think a couple of changes need to be made on showmasters behalf so that next year they have plans as to how many people "can" get through and put some limitations on handing out tickets 1000 people was too much for Hayden to do between the hours of 10am-5pm, so next year make limitations of say 750 and everyone gets 30-60seconds and if you are behind quota after an hour, drop the time to catch up. as for no photos, specify no posed photos or no flash photos or only photos whilst you are queuing or if a partner is taking the photo. the data from this year needs to be processed and a guide for the guys working teh desks needs to be produced. know your limits SM plese, it just makes it fairer for everyone.
  14. The photoshoots I had with them were completely different to photos of a signing. I paid for my photoshoot because i wanted a "professional" picture of me with the guest, So that it is good enough quality to get signed and mount on my wall at home. the reason i wanted a signing photo, (or in my case I was going to take a pic of my girlfriend getting her items signed and vice versa, so as not to hold up the queue) is so I could remember that part of the day. It lasts about 5 seconds 15-20 if your lucky. the reason I take a photo is to help that memory last for my lifetime. Its not about being fair the 2 different things are 2 different things, I can understand "No Posed Photo's" as that is the same but getting a photo of a guest signing or you partner standing with the guest who is signing is neither the same setop nor is it of teh same quality of the professional shots.
  15. So you assume that everyone who goes to the LFCC reads the boards? I didn't know it was a replica before the event because I read the main page of the website. (that was misleading) I only stated with the boards after the event. having a discussion on the boards is not a way of making an announcement. I'll bet there are still some people sat at home who don't even use the website that still think they will be receiving their Milo and Adrian photos in the next week or so because they had left the description as they were told to do. Even now the poster on the main stage says. Now correct me if I'm wrong but this is the advertised info and it is misleading. Phrases such as "as seen in the movie" and "have your photo taken with Bumblebee" suggest this is the real thing, when it is neither seen in the movie nor is it Bumblebee. Its a replica. So yes I read, I read the main page quite thoroughly and didn't assume for one second i would have to consult the forum as I trusted the info I that was presented to me. As i said, It wasn't bad. I got some great photo of people doing silly things near it, such as an alien lubricating it. Its just that the advert leads people to believe it was used in production of the movie and It wasn't. I'd love to know how much it cost and if its for sale. Also DisneyDude78 is there any chance you work for SM or were part of the crew at this event? Just wondering.
  16. Good Idea I really want to See Milo Ventimiglia in a Nurse outfit Yeah i saw that poll, personally I voted against the idea I'm not a fan but It will still be funny seeing everyone dressed up like that. I may try to find a Cheerleader costume from somewhere. I just meant once we have 20 or so suggestions can we have a poll to see what everyone's favourite is. we have ages until the event so I mean it wont be for a while yet but it could be an idea to see wat are the most popular ones
  17. Thanks for the link to that thread I skipped that one compleately, Its pretty much everything I wanted to know (why we weren't allowed). Its good reading and goes hand in hand with what i though was up and that was, they were knackered.
  18. A few people seem to be criticising the example i posted due to the new BG colour being black or that Jack now looks stretched, please note it was just an example of themed backgrounds looking more interesting and more professional. What i was actually trying to convay was an example like the following Sorry about the scale, I just copied the links in.
  19. So since you are part of the team can you tell me who's decision it is to allow or not allow photos? I totally understand if you slow the queue but my plan for this event was to have me get a shot of my girlfriend as she gets her autograph's and she would take a photo of me as i get mine. I feel confident that as this was my 1st event i had made prior plans so that i did not slow down queues or get in anyone's way, I don't want to be tarnished with the same brush that describes the people with VQT 1200+ waiting by Hayden's queue when they were only queueing up to ticket 500, just for future reference what do i have to bare in mind regarding these rules. why are they in place is it for teh actors or for financial/time constraints.
  20. Shhhhhhh, I think they were trying to stay quiet about that!
  21. That would be no posed photos with people, and there were plenty that he didn't have them with. As I was queuing 3 people had posed photos with him. I was going to ask myself but my girlfriend ran off with the camera. [WHISPER] and I was scared to ask [/WHISPER]
  22. Might be worth speaking to Showmasters (off the forum) to see if you can get an exhibitor rate or something? We had already checked the info on arranging a table for the event and found it viable to try our idea so long as we had enough interest. we could get through enough people to get through the days easily and cover our travel and hotel costs I just want to know if enough people would be interested to keep us busy. since we would now leave it until next year I just wanted to ask if anybody had interest in the idea, If nobody here cares then that is an indication of the general outcome we would expect at the event. as I said we wouldn't really mind doing this for free but we need to make sure we at least cover our expenses.
