Jason, Mark, Andrea and the rest of the Showmasters team would like to publicly thank Houdinia for her undivided support in the months running up to the event and the amazing job she did over the weekend. You are an absolute star Houdy! That’s why we put up with Serkis don't read, mods please delete and all your aliases, because Showmasters just wouldn’t be the same without you!

We would like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to all of the Collectormania crew who gave up their time and energy to help out over the weekend. Each and every one of you did a splendid job and worked long and hard, sometimes working well over 12 hours a day. In fact some of you were there from 6am to 10pm! Without your help it would have been impossible to run Collectormania. You didn’t just work at the show, you lived it! What you did was beyond the call of duty and we wish to thank you all for your support as well as your hard work. I know some of you didn’t have the opportunity to see all of the stars or be involved in all of the jobs and activities at C4 and we only wish there could have been a way to involve you even more. However you can be proud that the time and effort you put in made it possible for thousands of other fans to have a truly memorable weekend. It is because of people like yourselves that the Collectormania shows are possible. Running shows is a team effort and what a wonderful team we have! We'd also like to thank all of the other forum members and fans who have given us so much support and made us realise that the amount of work which goes into running Collectormania is worthwhile. Thank you all. Mark, Jason, Andrea, Kenny, and the rest of the Showmasters team.

An Open Invitation To Showmasters
showmasters replied to krisg's topic in Previous Showmasters events
Hi, It doesn't look like many people can make Saturday, so i think it would be best to cancel that for the moment and re-arrange another time. I'll come back to you on this shortly, and will try and give you all a couple of weeks notice so that more people may be able to fit it in. We do want to talk with you, and value your opinions. I'll be back on this in the next day or so. All the best Mark -
Ian, As someone who is involved with the press I find it amusing that you were unable to find out what my name was, as I was there all day every day. My name is Jason Joiner, rather than the one who is not Mark. Mark is in fact Mark! I think that by your statement you miss one fundamental point, that the event was not run to enable the press to get yet another story and pictures from Elijah Wood. In fact it was an opportunity for the fans to meet their favourite stars. And as to the lady from SFX, as she had claimed that I had given her permission, which I had not, actually stating to my face " Jason Joiner has given me permission ", not realising that I was Jason Joiner. I could not believe the extent of the fabrication of her lies, just to get an interview with Elijah. This is just one of hundreds of queries or incidents that happened over the weekend for me, which I coped with to the best of my ability. On this point, maybe you'll see another view now. If you would like to discuss your views on Collectormania 4, then please feel free to join us at 2pm this Saturday outside Costa Coffee, where we have accepted an open invitation in another thread, to meet with people and discuss the event, and how to improve things in the future. An Open Invitation To Showmasters
showmasters replied to krisg's topic in Previous Showmasters events
Hi everyone, Despite what you may think of us, we are interested in your views. We would be happy to meet up with anyone that wishes to, and answer any questions that you may have. We know that we did our best for Collectormania 4, and whilst we acknowledge that there are things that need to be improved or changed, we do not believe that it was the unmitigated disaster that some of you would make out. We can honestly say that on most points there is a reason why something was done in a particular way, and we would be happy to share these things with you. Please do not misunderstand me. We know that there were problems, and we do not shy away from them. There are undoubtedly some things that we have to just put our hands up to. However, we live in the real world where sometimes things do not go as you plan, and you have to adjust and cope the best you can. Anyway, as I said, we would very much like to meet up with people for a constructive discussion. From our point of view, no subject is off limits, and we are happy to talk about anything. All I would say is that we expect anyone attending to engage in constructive discussion, and not just a shouting match. That does not serve anyone. It would be useful if people could let us know if they intend to come along, as it would be pretty pointless us turning up if no-one else does. We propose to meet outside Costa Coffee on the edge of Middleton Hall at 2pm on this Saturday 11th October. We are interested in what you have to say, and will listen. We will also explain why we did some of the things that we did in the way that we did them, and talk over how things can be made better. I hope that as many of you who wish to will attend, and we look forward to meeting you. All the best Mark -
so what about the Father with the 7 year old girl who was so dissapointed that she didn't stop crying - he visits the complaints box - and gets attitude from the SM person and thumps the bloke - are you saying that didn't happen???? To be absolutley clear about this, I am saying that this DID NOT happen!

Hi everyone, Thanks for all your kind words. It is indeed very frustrating when a site such as the one ring net decides to report things in the way that they have. In particular, Steve and Ian's reports seem like they are just trying to find the bad in everything and to make out that the weekend was a total disaster. Sure there were some problems, and I have no problem admitting that, but to have nothing good to say at all just shows the story that they wanted to report. I also believe that Ian should grow up, as I know that he has an ulterior motive for acting the way he has. It is plain childish, and now I am sure that he feels by attempting to destroy Collectormania on One Ring Net he is getting his own back. Oh well. And just so you know, no-one was assaulted at Collectormania at all!!!! I will be contacting TORn regarding this to get them to remove the statement that someone was assaulted, as they know it is not true.

Apologies from Showmasters
showmasters replied to showmasters's topic in Previous Showmasters events
Re... English Rose Hi I am no doubt the one who hurried you through Dom's queue today. I can only apologise if i upset you. You are quite right that at that sort of time we were getting worried that we would not get everybody through and it was rotten luck that you suffered from that. I really can't remember being rude to anyone but I am really sorry if i was. It was a problem occasionally when someone stayed longer and the next persons picture got put in front of Dom before they had moved away. I normally made sure the person still got to go up to see Dom and say hello and get a pic. It was all very rushed some of the time but we were really only trying to move things so as not to let anyone with a ticket down. We did , only just , manage that. All I can say is sorry you got the bad end of it and I am glad you got a nice pic with Elijah. If you do come to C5 please try to find me and remind me of this and i will make it up to you somehow. Andy -
I don't really count as a Showmasters person really - I'm just one of the organisers Mums - but I'm finding it very hard to read the number of posts complaining at the lack of organisation etc. As anyone who has been at the show today (Sunday) will realise there are just SO MANY people to organise and hope to make happy. I don't think anyone could have foreseen just what a HUGE responsibility this was going to be.There are only so many autographs one person can sign in a day, so there are bound to be people who are disappointed. As far as the doors being open early is concerned, if you think about it ,it doesn't really make any difference, because there were obviously more people queueing to get in than could be seen by the LOTR people anyway. Of course I understand peoples disappointment. But you see, I also see it all from another point of view, and that is from watching my son, Mark, his business partner, Jason, and the rest of the Showmasters team trying so hard to put on the best Show for people that they can possibly manage. They have been living and breathing this show since the end of the last one in May. They love arranging it all and certainly don't see it primarily from a money making point of view - they see it as their 'Baby' and their main aim is to try and get as good a selection of guests together as they can, in the hope that they can make as many peoples dreams come true as possible. I have only had reason to feel proud of all their hard work and to be amazed at the amount of organisation that goes into these shows. Whilst I know they are philosophical people, I know that it will also upset them to think that through basically getting such brilliant, popular guests, they have inadvertently made people unhappy also. May I therefore apologise on their behalf for now, as I know it will not be possible for them to be aware of what is being said on the forum etc - probably until the early hours of the morning, because they have so much to do. The last thing they will want is to be making people unhappy - they strive for the opposite of that. I'm sorry if it annoys anyone for me to say how I'm feeling about this right now, but I felt too upset to say nothing. And I'm still very proud of them , love them to bits and admire them for trying so hard !! Thanks for 'listening', Carole.

I don't get nervous cos I'm Scottish and hard as nails! (quiver) Kenny
-
Hi everyone, How nervous am I?! Nervous isn't really the right word, but certainly we all feel the pressure of the huge responsibility of running a show like Collectormania. Ultimately, all we want to do is run a great show where everyone, guests, public and dealers have a great time. Whilst it is a fact of life that we all have to make money, I can honestly say that that is not what Collectormania is about. It feels like our baby almost, and we want to protect it, and make sure that you all love it! All the hard work, stress and last minute panicking is all made worthwhile when we see people meeting their idols with a great big smile on their faces. When we sit and talk into the early hours of the morning with some of the guests, and end up with new friends it is a great feeling. Ultimately though, if we can make peoples dreams come true then we have achieved what we set out to do. I hope every one of you has a wonderful time at Collectormania this weekend. We so appreciate your support, and hope that we live up to your expectations. Mark
