  1. 1) I have to agree with several others that the autograph and photo op sessions were a little chaotic, since I originally didin't go in with much of a strategy. It would have been nice to have them calling people in blocks, especailly for autographs. Racing back and forth was not fun - and a friend I was with who has mobility issues did not have an easy time of it with the hotel layout. It would also have been helpful to have signs behind the guests during autos - when the halls got really crowded it was hard seeing whose line was whose especially since several guests moved. A few more chairs in the autograph hall would also have been nice - my friend I was helping had trouble standing for long periods of time. 2) Seating during the talks - staggered seats would have been nice - I'm quite short and had trouble seeing at times. Also, I know its a sticky issue, but my friend and I had some trouble with the disability seating. I realize that gold should get preference (and we were gold), but several crew members on Friday night and Saturday were quite rude about seating. While we didn't get seats in the front row (and weren't going to take them), we pretty much had seats pointed out to us several rows back and were told to sit there.
  2. Curious to see who SM invites. I know Suanne Braun was at the last Chevron but I'd love to see her again - and she's fairly local. I'm sure Cliff Simon would love an invite. I know nothing is certain, but since I'm coming from the US I will be a little disappointed if there are only 4 guests.
  3. Finally got my room booked, thanks to a friend. I will say the con rate is a big savings and (almost) worth the hassle.
  4. Tried emailing - no response, plus they state on their website they won't do reservations via email. The US call center has no way of putting me through to the UK. Just a little frustrated. Hopefully my friend will come through.
  5. I've seen it and it's great. I'm not sure how much an issue it would be to show it since it will be airing on Canadian TV in October. I'll add that I don't know if Joe's seen it, but Joe has expressed interest in seeing the finished product.
  6. Both of those options would be an extremely expensive phone calls for me since I am in the US - I'm not even sure if my cell phone would let me. Hopefully the code will work online or I will have a friend in the UK make reservations for me.
  7. Calling is just a little tricky for those of us not in the UK and they won't accept the code via the US reservations number.
  8. Unfortunately Brian's behavior may reinforce some opinions of him and, by association, SGU.
  9. RP (or his agent) might have given a verbal commitment but without a written contract it generally wouldn't be binding/formal.
  10. Just wanted to say thanks for a great con - it was definitely worth the time and expense of getting there from the States. Getting the gold pass was definitely worth and it and the guests all seemed very comfortable (I can't tell you how many times I bumped into Colin in the halls and such and it was great to see most of the guests at the casino night). I liked that seating was fairly organized by groups versus strict assigning of seats or the craziness of queuing for extended periods of time. I was sorry to have missed one set of talks due to autograph signings, but I think things ran fairly on schedule for my group which is pretty amazing given the number of people you were moving through. I agree with what was said as far as raffling off a few of the guest encounter spots - I was fortunate to be able to afford to pay to see Joe, but I'll also add that there should have been some policy/ enforcement of not allowing someone to bid on two guest encounters with the same guest if they'd already won one with one of the bigger guests or if more than 12 (or the number of slots available) bids were posted. May I also suggest that part of the proceeds from the guest encounter goes to the guest's choice of charities? Yes, my hotel room was pretty scary, but I was hardly there and the hotel staff seemed to handle the number of guests well and were quite friendly and competent. It was also nice having a con with plenty of food options nearby.
  11. If you bring a gift for a guest, when is the best time to give it to them? Is the cocktail party ok or should I wait until autographs?
  12. It is possible to pay by card. Just please let us know at the reg desk as soon as you see you've won (not before ). As we usually take cash at the door of the GE, but if you need to it'll be no issue you paying by card at the reg desk in advance. Thanks - I'm coming in from overseas, so carrying extra currency isn't always convenient!
  13. For the guest encounters - will we need to pay cash or is credit card fine?
  14. Since I'm coming from the US, I'm guessing my tickets will be held at the door? Also I haven't received any sort of email confirmation about them - other than the receipt when I purchased them.
