Well I'll be taking my weapons and wearing them, and will do so unless at the time the hotel tell me not to. Now I feel we should be OK as Massive Events know what we as there customers want/expect to be able to do at these events and thusly make sure they book hotels that will accomadate these needs. Plus that hotel if I'm not mistaken is used by ME alot so there used to us weirdos But calling the hotel I say is a big mistake,, if you get someone who does not work the cons and know what/who we are etc you'll freak them out with the word gun and it will start balls rolling that could lead to them being banned, creating the inverse of what you wanted,, if thats the case then if I can't costume propperly I don't see why I would bother coming atall, not being able to do it right well upsets me, and I goto Chevs to feel good not pee'd off, that time at birmingham had a giant cloud over an otherwise good event. Plus the time we had all the trouble at birmingham was mainly because there was 2 other events on at the same time as ours and the other 2 events complained about our guns,, and well the other 2 events where very very rich people,, when they complain we loose every time :/

I think the latest it should be annouced would be by the end of the year,, TBH I think atleast 3 months but that been and gone,, So if they could make there mind up before the years out then that would be JUST acceptable,, and only just.. But lets face it chances are we won't know till feb some time, maybe very late jan if we're lucky,, But well I've accepted that they don't give a flying fox trott about the parties anymore this thread here I think will be my last time trying to give a dren about it,, but it'll fall on deaf ears (blind eyes with a forum I guess) and nowt will happen. I have posted my feeling about this soo much now on these boards and nuffing,,, it's a real shame, the last chev I had an absolute blast the events are still good, but it's the ones of us who like me just decided frell it and in my head I chose my own themes and went with them :) Righto let's watch this space!!!

And there in lays it's simplicity You know me, I love to costume up for things, and giving people such a wide scope and ability to choose something that suits them weather it be for physical/financial/skill reasons then hopefully more will join in,, more will let loose and enjoy the themes and the themes then MAY just start meaning something again

I think the food idea will not happen,, it's not something we have had before and I think ME will not go for it as it's extra expense for no extra come back,, just being realistic here,, plus trying to cater for all the different food requirments would be a nightmare,, sorry to rain on parades but trying to be realisitic. As for theme's,, when thinking of a theme I think you have to take a few things into consideration. 1) Is it relevent (Will people get it) 2) Does this choice give people a WIDE verity of costume choices 3) Is the theme going to be one thats the costume choices are achievable to people with varying talents/financial constraints 4) And kind of part 2 and 3 but is the theme available to all male/female etc Now with these (part 4) I found the RDA one was WAY to limiting, the choices people had and although yes the girls can dress as boys and vice versa not everyone would be up for that,, so a AT charecters theme would rule most of the blokes out of it like the RDA did for the girls,, difference is I think women are more happy to dress as blokes than blokes to dress as women,, me I don't care So all I say is take these things into consideration when chosing. Now my ideas are the same I put down for 7.7... Fri - Political Conferance --- Representatives from all over the SG-1/SGA/SGU universes get together to work out the universes problems using drinks and dance to aid in the negotiations. (Basically any Stargate based costume is a goer, and like chev 7.2 a chance if they don't want to or can't get a stargate based cossie together then they may wish to get out there best frocks/suits if desired, it is a formal event after all ) Sat - Alternate Universe --- Here we find strange races from all over the universe at the SGC, but not of stargate universe origion, they have bleed through from some unknow universes how will the SGC cope. (Basically any Sci-Fi based costume goes, so if that's santurary or farscape it's all a go) Sun - Time Travel --- Ut Oh,, It's all gone wrong for SG-1 they keep getting thrown back in time,, how will they deal with varid people from different periods in history,, not just earth history that of any of the worlds lead to by the stargate,, will they encounter human history, Jaffa History the Unas back once long ago,, you never know you might even see a furling?!?!?. (Basically gives people the option of earth historical clothing or they can go wild with there imagination for an alien world historical clothing) These ideas I had where to try give people the widest possible choices for whatever skill level, financial restraints, or other limiting factor may be against them this still gives them much choice to enable all to have a good chance of doing something for the themed nights. Not saying mine should be used but just when deciding on something it has to be accesable to all OK back off to get in my box again,,,,, but I'm not holding out much hope ME will annouce it soon enough for anyone to do anything anyway so this thread might be in vain,, the last one for 7.7 was :/ All the best, Lee

Well I can bring my few meger items, the Daniel Jackson Jacket from end of season 1/begining season 2, future sgc uniform from "into the fire" my jaffa stuff and a couple other little bits if required??

I havn't got much screen used stuff mainly the Jaffa, A shanks jacket, some tokra bits and a few other randoms, but I may bring my bits along too,, Claire is Steven organising this again? if so i'll have to have a chat so he knows what I'm bringing But most important of all the thing you must bring Claire it's yourself

It sorrows me to say it but they just don't care about the parties really ,,, they'll finally realise probably just after the twilight event 21-23 of oct that they yet again forgot all about it and throw out some themes then, or maybe after the hallowedon event even the weekend before,, try for a new record in reveling the themes late :/

I see yet again same old story, I love the chevron events, the staff are great at the event etc,, but TBH unless I have "something" already appropriate for a theme I ignor the theme's now, every time they leave it to the last minit to announce them and if I'm going to do it I need time to do something "Right" I'm no good at "Fancy Dress", I prefer to "Costume", I have nothing against others knocking something up basic if that's all they want/can do, I love to see people just joining in and having fun with the theme, it's great, but call me a costume snob if you like, but I like to go as far as I can, as acurate as I can,, this takes TIME,, also even if someone is knocking something basic up it can take time, with real lifes, jobs, kids, familes etc some people don't have alot so need to know well enough in advance to achieve something. I used to care about the parties, they where something to look forward to, back on the first couple I bent over backward to get costumes done to the theme, it basically started the fun of the con well before the con, it helped grow my excitment with the researching, sourcing and making of the costume, and I was lucky at the time had a job with alot of flexable time,, but with time after time rushing last minit and breaking my back to get something done for the event and if you want to do something Right and Fast it ain't going to be Cheap,, it's the old saying QUICK, FAST and CHEAP pick 2, but the last few cons yes I still managed to match the theme but ONLY because I had something to suit,, now I know I've gone on a bit, probably for some making too much of it,, but it only because I used to care so much about them, for me one of the key things I love about chevron is getting to costume,, getting to use not only the ones I have but with luck add something new to show off there. So the party themes used to be a major part of the pre-hype for me,, now there just the inevitable disapointment of not caring, as annouced so late all I can do is HOPE the theme that eventually gets chosen will get covered by one of my existing costumes. I hope for future con's they try and annouce them atleast 3 months in advance (But sooner would be cool), and stick to it and the days they set. And then I can start to gain that special feeling back the party themes used to give me. Personally I really starting to NOT CARE what the party theme's are any more, they announce them FAR to late for me to have enough time to come up with something appropriate, so now I just hope something will match up in my costume collection when they can be bothered to care enough to pick theme.

I'll be there,, but alas no SW costume,, I have somehow goto try do 3 different costumes over 2 days as it is I want to Silent Bob, SG Team Member (Poss Jaffa instead if I can get the faux mail suit done in time and side ribs) and Peackeeper Captain. If I can get Jaffa done in time and only can fit 2 cossies in it will be Jaffa one day Silent Bob the next :) I look forward to seeing you there ATB Lee

I'm glad I made people laugh,, I enjoy doing that :) And you where great too :),, The "I'm the one with the breasts" moment When your Teal'c got slightly confused I felt sorry for your group as you also had to contend with The Judge Cloud What do you recon to getting us 3 winners of the auditions together and doing a skit for 7.2, go off in a special corner (I run a ton of forums I can make a hidey hole) and come up with something I knew it was fun but didn't know it was THAT fun :D
