He's one of our regulars - and does talk into his watch. :-) Lovely chap who's done a lot of events over the years so is well used to the Showmasters etc. crowds, and their behaviour.

I know his feet are large - but to walk a mile in his shoes you'd have to walk around with tiny footsteps. Sillyness aside, thanks to both you and Stuart for the weekend. You've had my comments about the problems - far more of the time wasn't problems.

I was his guest assistant all day Saturday. He wasn't shaking hands with anyone, and asked me to enforce it as far as possible. It was nothing personal against any of the attendees individually. He chatted with everyone he could, and seemed to enjoy the conversations (except perhaps one which puzzled him, I think - but I'm not going into details). He was though tired from the flight over, and not sleeping well on the Friday night. Clearly he loved B5 when he did it, but his recent work seemed to interest him more. I got the impression he hasn't a lot of time for most more recent TV science fiction. Chatting with his Sunday guest assistant, it sounded much the same. I've certainly had much harder guests to work with, and seen many who were less chatty with the attendees.

BL**DY HILARIOUS! Especially for all the upset kids etc. snipped You're not the only one. We had a couple of bad experiances. Our daughters had also had a bad day here. Our posts on this blog also get attacked beacuse of "first time postings" but we only found this forum upon return from London. Like you, we also will not be attending any more events like that one. Good luck with your signed autos. It seems SM only like the good comments, and remove/delete the bad. A pity but thats life with these people. D.M Suggestion - when you've got a complaint, try talking to the people who can fix it, not the muppets who have a go at you for "first time postings". No one deletes postings for being "first time postings" - if they did it would be impossible to post on here. "Showmasters" info@showmastersonline.com is the place to post if you want to get your problems resolved properly. Here, although read by Showmasters, who do their best to [pick up on issues raised, it's largely "playing to the crowd".

Sian, I'm not going to disagree with your gripe about this, but I do need to correct one point. The crew did know that there was a process, and they did know what it was - it was the process you described in the paragraph above - that the person waiting for the photograph filled out their details on a paper form, including a description of what they looked like and were wearing, and that Showmasters would use this to match pictures and photographs, and mail them out. As you'll see from further down the thread, some of these photos have already arrived. The numbers did mean that we had to get more forms, and briefly during this period some people were asked to provide the same details on blank paper. More forms arrived shortly afterwards, so anyone who waited did get the proper form. Obviously things didn't go as smoothly as they should have done, and there will be a 'post mortem' to sort out the communication issues which made it more difficult. The initial problem though was a fairly simple one - an additional very popular early morning photo-shoot for Peter Fechmypassport and the laboratory not being able to start work early enough on a Sunday. Either would have been a surmountable problem, both together put us behind schedule.

One group who I haven't seen mentioned, who deserve a vote of thanks. The Earls Court 'resident' security staff. From the point of view of a crew member who had to deal with them a number of times, they really made my life (especially on Sunday) a lot easier. Queuing outside didn't go perfectly on Saturday. By Sunday they'd looked at what went wrong, re-organised how the 'queue to pay' queue was fitted in, and put it right. When I went outside half an hour before opening on Sunday, they had already done a really good job of making sure that anyone who asked, or was looking lost had been routed to the correct queue. They were also very quick sorting out a couple of issues that I couldn't resolve directly. So - thanks to the resident staff.

Trust me, as a crew member who was a runner on Sunday (amongst 5 other jobs) it was quite long enough this year.
