Apparently the DLR to Excel is closed 20 & 21st, the days of the event! This will cause me trouble as my hotel is two stops away but worse than hat I'll hav no way of making my return flight on Sunday evening! Anyone got any experience of what happens when DLR is closed? Event organisers will not be happy?!

Says it's only closed between Canning Town and Beckton. Canning Town appears to be about 1 mile from the venue so walkable unless you have loads of bags and things to carry.

Very bad timing. Even if there's buses put on I can imagine a lot of queues and hanging around.

Precisely my problem! We'll have bags. Additionally our hotel the new Travelodge will only be reachable on foot before and after each day! I'm disgusted!

That's all fine but what about the people only intending to go one day like I was thinking of doing? or those who have booked hotels further afield? Going to cause a lot of problems and delays getting to and from the venue.

You may be stuck then if you dont want to walk, or faced with hefty taxi fares for that part of london!!

Might think about driving in. Get there early enough and I hope there shouldn't be too much problem parking. Might be the easiest option to consider.

Why are people fretting about the DLR? RELAX. This is London.

You can take a Taxi, A bus, Walk...etc. Canary wharf is just a little bit away.

For taxis; there are mini cabs. Use them. cheap

Maybe not from North London, but dam The whole Underground wont be shut. Get as close as possible and then get a mini cab. 15-20 pounds not expensive.

It's about a mile away so 20 min walk roughly.

Or you could take the bus from there

It's not that bad just be glad the whole DLR isn't closed :)

Nor is parking. £9-12 for a days parking last time I went. Not sure if parking is cheaper in different areas...

I plan to walk from Canning Town to the event, hopefully there will be signs from the DLR/Tube to Excel otherwise I might take a taxi or a bus.

If it's a mile a cab on a meter shouldn't be more than a few pounds.

Might not be expensive for you but I'm flying to the event and my costs are high enough already! 15-20 pounds for a 1 mile taxi ride is bloody ridiculous! We'll have no option to walk as we'll have suitcases.

Unfortunately travel is beyond the organisers really. These things happen, and I have been to events before and had to work out alternative routes etc. It's not always too bad. I'd just keep an eye on the travel situation.

I walked from East India stop last time. You can basically follow the DLR.

Having said that, that was easier since it was running that day so I could hear it!

I think I walked it that day to save £2, so you can guess I'd never pay £15-20 for a cab  :D

Can you drop a link as to where that info is please as I cannot see anywhere on TFL website which details works past July?

Hope the parties are in the nearby hotels or nobody will be going to them!!!

There are walking maps on the Travel for London website. Haven't looked at them yet so I don't know how helpful they are.
