Hi there. I've just booked my hotel room for a very reasonable £227 at the Premier Inn. For the Friday and Sunday prices were £55 and £63 (or something) respectively. For Saturday it was £109. Prices went up by £5 overnight as it was £223 last night.

I'm a long time user of Premier Inn all over the country and I've never had a bad night's sleep or a bad experience. It also has a restaurant, bar etc. Last night there were double rooms, now there are only Family Rooms so it seems they're going fast already.

i have booked a twin room and yes i love premier inn. its so nicer then travelodge. but a little more expensive but the location is superb! and we are only at the back of excel.. so glad i booked the premier inn now that the DLR is facing closure on that wkend

I have booked at premier also but the one at beckton about a mile away but for two rooms fri-mon £328 thats £154 cheaper than excel a 10 minute walk away but thats extra money to spend :D

Help a fellow star trek fan from the USA...

Just bought my ticket to the show but I havent been to London in 20 years....

If money were no object, what would the best place to stay near the show be?  what would be the most fun?

thanks for your help!

A lot of people are staying at the Premier Inn, Travelodge or Crown Plaza.  I prefer a full service hotel so I'll be at the Hilton.  There's a Novotel at the site which is a bit more upscale and full service.  Failing that, why not pamper yourself at the Four Seasons Canary Wharf  ;)

Remember that the DLR to the ExCel is NOT running on Sat or Sun. So if your hotel is not on site you will either have to walk or try to get on a bus with the thousands of others or get a very expensive taxi.

I found that out after I booked my hotel but I don't think it's a big problem.

For those worried about DLR and accomadation please don't. The DLR is still running on the south side (west silverton) just a short walk from the excel just 1/2 mile walk (12 minutes walk according to google).

As such any hotel in london can be chosen, just remember that you have 12 minute walk from stop to Excel. Also my rule of thumb is every stop on DLR / Tube in London takes 3 minutes.

I just booked a room (with breakfast) from the 19th to the 22nd at the Novotel for 290 pounds. That's only 30 pounds more than the Premier Inn. And from what I can tell online the Novotel looks nicer. It was a non-refundable fare though.

"Yup."

Rooms are filling up REALLY fast--the Premier Inn was out of twin rooms already when I tried to book yesterday!  My friend and I are at the Novotel; it was £89/night if you do the nonrefundable advance option.

Booked into the Etap London City Airport (http://www.accorhote...get/index.shtml) just round the corner. Not been in this particular one before but from previous experience, they are basic but clean. £145(ish) for 1 room (2 people) for 3 nights including breakfast. Not bad!

Checked prices at Novatel yesterday, either side of this weekend the prices were over £100 more expensive as the ExCel had events on.

So just to be sure I didn't get stung I booked my 3 nights at Novatel, aso by booking Friday to Monday I miss all the hassle with the DLR being off line for the weekend.

We will combine this weekend with a 3 days visit to London. We stay in the F1 hotel, appr. 4 KM's from the ExCel. Arriving on the Thursday around 11.00 am and leaving around 6.00 pm on Monday.
D.S.T.L. was Great!

Sunday @ Guest Talk Time =
her talk was very nice (perhaps talking to Kate third)

Looking at the rate this is filling up and some of the prices I've seen for where I booked (the Ibis near the entrance) I'm glad I got in early.

Once hotels know it's busy they dont half hike the prices up.
