Hopefully they will announce if they will do disability/carers tickets before the general release.
Would be handy to know if we need to book two tickets or not.

Think a reply to this posting would be more helpful to all disabled people.  Too Tall is probably the best person to clarify things

I'm trying to finding out as I type this.

As most of you know I deal with anything to do with anyone requiring extra help at SM or ME events. This being our first show with Media 10, I'm not 100% sure how it's going to work.

Please stick with me, I will get an answer and get back to you all here.

Just had confirmation.

Carers can go in free with a disabled person that has a full paying adult ticket. You need to call See Tickets 0844 854 1355 to arrange this.

Thats good to know, thanks, will save a lot of money. It's real annoying paying extra for people that aren't really interested in something they take you to and then having to listen to them moan and groan about queues etc.

My carer has just phoned and been told that tickets have to be bought at the venue and to produce DLA documentation. I was hoping to get a silver or maybe even a gold package online and am worrried they'll be all sold out if I wait until I get there to buy one. Any thoughts, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've always had to pay for mine and with train tickets, hotels, food etc it makes it real expensive so I tend not to go to as many now unless it's something real special.  You could always ask but I have always been told no you have to pay

Haven't these people heard of the Equality Act 2010?  This is discrimination by putting disabled people at a disadvantage of goods and services.  I understand it's because they need to see DLA documentation, which is fine, but surely reasonable adjustments should be made.  Why should disabled people have to travel, with their carers, to London to purchase tickets?  Surely options should be available to purchase at local ticket offices.

As a disabled person who relies on a carer (and who doesn't yet get DLA) AND works within equality law I feel very strongly about this.

Please email me at info@showmastersonline.com with the subject as FAO Too Tall and I can discuss the options with you. That goes for anyone requiring extra help at a Showmasters or Massive Events show.

I'm just have confirmation that the information that "Wheels" was given was incorrect. I'm sorry for this Wheels. Please do contact See Tickets again, they do now know.

It's only the carers pass that needs to be picked up on the day with proof. The disabled persons ticket (silver, gold or whatever) can be bought now online.

They are also looking at getting a tick box added so you can add you require a carer. But for now, please book YOUR ticket online, and then you can call and confirm you require a carers pass.

Cheers Too Tall for claring the carer issue.  One last niggle, surely if a disabled person who buyys a silver pass or higher is allowed to take their carer into talks.  It wouldn't be fai to ask the carer to payextra for the talks surely.

I understand what you're saying but on the other hand do you NEED your carer in the talk? Once your carer takes you to your place in the talk, they can easily leave and come back after the talk finishes.

Space is going to be limited in the talk areas so I can understand why they would say it's free entry only for carers and doesn't include the extras.

But I will look into it, as I do know there will be some situations where people may need their carer with them at all times. We may have to look at a carers area at the back, so they can be there.

hello!

Apologies to start with, details about carers should have been made available when we went live.

As Too Tall has mentioned carers do go free and their ticket will need to be collected on the day.  This is an entry only ticket, however we do now have a tick box that if ticked at point of purchase will alert us to the fact you will require assistance in the talks so if this is ticked, we will contact you closer to the event to ensure we can make the best possible arrangements for the talks.

If you have already purchased tickets, don't worry, simply drop us a line quoting your booking reference via the contact us form on the website and we'll make sure you are contacted closer to the event.

I was going to say I did telephone to ask about these things and was told if I got my ticket (Platinum Pass) and ticked the box about assistance, a carer would be allowed to accompany me into the talks, party etc...this is great as it works out considerably cheaper for me, and so have booked under this understanding though I would like to ask for clarification of what exactly constitutes 'proof of disability' in this case - surely it is enough proof to turn up in my powered wheelchair alongside my carer?

The "proof" part is something we've questioned. I will get back to you on this as soon as I get an answer.

Thanks for looking into this. I need to arrange something so I'll pop an email off when I've figured what i need to do. Luckily hubby is a huge Trek fan too so we bought Silver tickets, but I'll need him to help me in the Captain's talks as they're random and I've no hope of getting around a crowded auditorium by myself :D

Thank you for the clarification.  I've been in touch as requested and, based on the helpfulness of forum staff so far, I feel a lot more relaxed about everything  :D
