I think I saw on another thread that seating will be allocated firstly by ticket type brought (ie VIP, Platinum, Gold, Silver) Then in which order they were purchased.  Basically if you brought gold in April then you would be nearer the front of the gold allocated seating than someone who brought a gold ticket in June.  I havent seen anywhere where it says you can upgrade your seating ticket.

Hi Continuity,

Thanks for your reply (and to all of you of course).

So the allocation is basically of free-seat basis - is that bit of information about priority among Gold-purchasers listed in event's website explicitly?

Thanks

Can you link that post? I don't remember seeing anything like that said (but I may have missed it), but I don't see how that would work - normally it would be just a sectioned-off seating area in front of everyone else, for those that have priority seating. Considering the organisers won't know which talks you will be going to, I can't see how you can allocate specific seats by ticket type and then buy date purchased, it would be a logistical nightmare.

At best I could see them doing Silver in front of the general entry ticket holders, Gold in front of Silver, and Platinum right at the front but even that would be a pain in the ass for the stewards

Rob,

If it's anything like LFCC, they labelled the end of each row of chairs with ticket type and ticket numbers(tickets for talks, etc had a number on them and those buying first had lower numbers).  So how I would imagine this working for DSTL is, for example, Row 1 is VIP ticket holders, Row 2 is Platinum holders with ticket numbers 1-20, row 3 is platinum holders ticket number 21-40, and on like that with Gold, silver, and general ticket holders last.

The stewards didn't check every person's number, but there was never an issue with too many people trying to fit into one row so I didn't see any arguments about people not sitting where they are supposed to.

Saying all that, though, when I went to the Gates McFadden talk, there were so few people at it that she asked all the general ticket holders to move up into the gold seats so she wasn't having to talk over a whole bunch of empty seats.

Oh Gates...she was so amazing!

Sounds good, that's even better than the priority-seating-free-for-all I was expecting :)

Thanks again everybody.

As a follow-up, does anyone know whom in Showmasters (or otherwise organizers of the event) should I try to reach in order to get definitive answers?

Thanks,
Ebow

Ok, apologies for probably asking whats been asked tons of times before, but theres just too much to read though to try and find out if its asked already.

So from what I gather from the first post etc, guests will be signing all day under a VT system right? So, is this event sort of like just an expensive LFCC/EMS then in that we buy entry (£30 a day or £50 for 3 days basically), and then grab VT's in the morning and queue as per normal as at the other signing shows? Im wanting autos and possibly photoshoots with 4 guests, maybe 5 (none of which are the captains), so could this be done as a day trip then in one go like a regular signing show, or will it be like at Massive events cons where guest autos and photoshoots are spread over all the days and you have to do both days because of it?

If you go saturday or sunday, i see no reason why you couldn't do that in 1 day.

Maybe this have been asked before or maybe you know that anyway, but that would be my first event at the UK, so I have a couple of questions:

Are there always silver, gold, platinum areas at every talk? Is it certain that you get a seat at the silver area e.g. or do they sell more silver tickets than silver seats?

Priority seating was confirmed as being for all talks in the "main" arena. Presumably some or all of the free talks will be in smaller areas that do not have room for a separate seating area.

Normally the rows say which ticket group the seating is for and then you can sit in any seat in those rows. And the no of seats will be arranged so there are enough seats for people with each pass.

If you get the randomly assigned vouchers and you don't like who you have got can you swap/trade with other people?

For example if I got a voucher to get a autograph from Nana Visitor could I swap with another fan to get a voucher to get a autograph from Dominic Keating
We've not had confirmation on this, sorry. We have asked.
I know that the mods have chased this in the past, and I'm sure that if there had been a reply we would have been told, but I have left this a number of weeks now with no update. Since it's now over nineteen weeks since the mods first asked, please could you chase this again (feel free to tell me you've already chased it in the last week or two  )

hi as of today we finished off how the ticket system will work , with all thats going on and what people are to get over the day and the weekend its been the most complex ticketing system we have had to work out and it has taken longer that it has before, we are now running this system past some of the crew that are close to us to see if they can see any issue with it , i think we are there and this info will be public soon .

at this stage i can say that people with free live autographs will have the guest/s allocated to them on there dog tag so you cannot swop them over with other attendees , but there is nothing stopping you swooping them with others after you have your free live autograph .

we have to make this system work for all 10700 of you and it has to work and be fair so this is the best system we have come up with , and on the day its going to work very well , we are sorry we cannot turn every ticket to how each of you would like it , but thats really not posable , what we are 100% on tract to do is give you everything we have said you will get in your chosen ticket , so all is going well and we are all looking forward to a great memorable event .

sorry this info was not forth coming sooner , and i hope you can see we have been working very hard to bring everything together ready for the show and that has taken us a lot of time but we want to get it right and only tell you something when we know 100% its whats going to happen and not have to change it later .

see you soon

t known if upgrading the seats on an event (with either of the captains, for instance) to a closer to the stage seat will be available after purchasing a package? For example, if I bought the Silver package and I'd just like to add some money to get to a front row (like the prior seat in the Gold package), will that be possible?

Thanks in advance,

Ebow

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I hope this kind of upgrade is not allowed. Many of us paid extra for the Gold package BECAUSE of the priority seating, so it would be poor form for Showmasters to allow people who have not paid extra for that perk to be able to add it on to a lower package. Big can o' worms will erupt if they do something like that...

you will only be able to sit according to your ticket , so if you bought a gold then you are going to be in the gold section , there is no upgrade of seat ticket , we all feel that seating is something that has a real value and for the people buying silver gold + should be looked after buy them having seating accordingly so no we will never upgrade seating .

seetickets can still upgrade your event ticket for people at the point , some tickets are starting to get low for some of the days but at this time they can still do this , but i think after tickets have gone out they cannot change them so again do not leave it to long if this is something you want to do .

i hope this helps

I have a question, I'm sure I know the answer but just want clarification. With regards to all the talks how is it going to work.

With regards to Silver and Gold ticket holders (as hubby and I have gold but a friend at work has silver)
  • Do we get priority seating in all talks
  • Do we still have to pay for any talks we might want to go to that are not free
  • If we can go to all the free talks, do we still have to get tickets at the event for all those talks even though they are free (is it like a first come first serve basis)
Prefer someone in the know to answer this not just another forum member, as I said I'm sure I know this answers here just need to make 100% sure on all this.

Thanks in advance for any replies..

Priority seating is for all talks in the main arena only (i.e. any smaller talks will not have priority seating). Was confirmed by mods elsewhere.

Any talks that are not free are, (no sarcasm intended) not free, so yes would need to pay for any not included in your ticket. Doesn't really need confirming by anyone "official" as it is common sense.

Not seen anything confirming how tickets for the free talks will work, but obviously they will be a free for all on the day either by queueing for a ticket in advance or by queueing on the door. Need someone "in the know" to confirm how it's going to work if it has been decided yet (as keeps getting stated elsewhere, this won't necessarily run the same as previous SM events due to the nature of the organisation this time)

Thanks but why would it be common sense? It is what I thought and this event may be different to other Showmasters have run themselves or been part of, but gold has included all talks before (even paid if I'm remembering correctly)
