Olympics - distruptions?

Hey,

I know it's incredibly early to be thinking about next summer's potential conventions.... However..

I work in the IT dept for the company that will be providing catering etc at the Olympics, and for a 10 week block next summer, from early july to early september, we are sorting out staff etc

I was told today that we are already really, really struggling to get accomodation booked for us to be there, due to nearly all hotels being almost fully booked already, and this is such for the whole summer period bascially.

So I was wondering whether the usual LFCC convention is going to be moved, postponed, cancelled etc in light of this? As no-one is really going to be able to get into or stay in London around the whole time of year this is normally on.

Not sure if it's been considered yet, so I was just throwing it out there to see if there are any thoughts from SM yet?

Good point you could consider moving them north to Milton Keynes but that will cause problems for people in south so what If they host it where they never have before lol!

Swap the Comic Con and Collectomania dates for a year. It doesn't have to be in the Summer.

It's so soon after CM this year its rather crept up on me.

With regards to Collectormania MK, these dates depend on the football season fixtures if memory serves me correctly.

Certainly that's the case for the "current" venue of the actual stadium itself - can't have the event on during an actual match. Whether that would be the case if the actually-intended indoor venue (conference centre/ballroom) is actually/ever completed, I'm not sure. It might still be preferable (although not actually necessary) not to have it clash with a football game.
