Until SM says so, this event is still scheduled to happen. Activity will be quiet on the guest front as there are several other shows they need to concentrate on first.

I mean i know from past experience, Collectormania use to be quiet on the guest front until about 4 weeks prior to it then they would announce about 6 guests at a time.

Alot of the guests won't know for definite if they can make an event until nearer to the time so there maybe BIG guests in the pipeline, but until they recieve the paperwork back - we are all left waiting.

Im confident that SM can come up with some good guests for this event with it being the first dedicated Star Trek event they are running  :D

It may not be long till you are doing this....  :D

Surely by that rationality none of the events after that one should have anyone announced either. But they do.

I would have thought history would suggest the longer people have to keep asking something without an answer, the less likely its going to be the answer you want to hear.

actually trek guests get snapped up well in advance for the official conventions in the US for which there are quite a few.

add that to the fact there are a few decent trek guests at other showmasters events this year and the fact of some of the big names are unavailable on the warp dates, id be worried about this going ahead if id planned on going or had already blindly bought a ticket.

I was of the thinking that this would go ahead and with a big name, but now im not so sure. and the fact the warp section didnt get a "we need your help in promotion" thread could be telling, a similar thing happened last year and warp was postponed.

I hope this does go ahead though and is a success

I so hope that this does go ahead. What a tragic wasted opportunity if it doesn't. This could and will be an annual success given the right lineup. This would be my first massive event. Like many, I have supported SM and Autographica and travelled many miles for many years now because of the Trek guests they get. Come on Massive Events you can do it. I know that a few of us are repeating ourselves on here but surely if we keep on letting SM know our concerns then it might just get a guest announced.............or have I had too much sun and lager this weekend?

I agree with Timelord. I really want to go but after booking early for Housebroken and it being cancelled and then booking early for Roadhouse and only having 4 guests (althought they were great fun), I'm not willing to blindly buy a ticket.

I can completely understand that some people would like to see what guests will be attending before purchasing a ticket. I am lucky in that I would be happy no matter what guests are announced, so I bought my ticket straight away. I'm the same with Chevron and Hallowhedon. I know I will purchase a ticket for the next event as soon as possible despite not knowing the final guest line-up. I enjoy the respective shows a lot and I know I will enjoy the guests.

My bank balance is not fully happy with this arrangement that I have with myself

Changed that for you.

I think it's severely underestimated how many people actually buy tickets for events based on the guest list. No guests=a handful of ticket buyers. Great guests=lots of ticket buyers. Desipte what you are like, and what a handful of others may be like, the majority of people do not buy tickets for events in the hope of good guests being announced

Most wanted guests:

Mr. T - Matt Smith - Ian McDiarmid - Ian Holm - Sean Bean - Peter Cullen - Frank Welker - David McCallum - Joanna Lumley - Christopher Lee - Ian McKellen - Jodelle Ferland(for a SIGNING event)

R.I.P Nicholas Courtney - The kindest man I ever had the pleasure to meet

most cant afford to

I mean I always book off CMMK/CML dates off work (I work LFCC at EC) as I know there will be at least a few guests im interested in and travel doesnt cost me anything, neither does accomodation, but ME cons ect, I have to think about travel, hotel costs, plus the more expensive ticket, I cant do that without some guests especially as there will only be bwtween 4 and 8 guests, just cos I like the show. cant afford to. for the smaller specific cons, you need someone to make it worth while, if Id bought a hub ticket blind id be very disapointed right about now. for me that would be alot of money for supporting artists. even if it will be a nice event. I guess its down to what you can afford.

My comment was intended to be more of a generalization than any indication of numbers. Apologies as I may have unintentionally chosen the wrong word. Some may agree. Some may not.

I will change it to convey my original intent.

I don't think that the importance of the guest line-up is underestimated with regards to ticket purchases. I would be very surprised if ME thought otherwise as well.

Really? Judging by most of the conventions run, i'd say that they prefer the idea of people buying tickets first, which gives them the money to book guests, as opposed to vice versa(the vice versa being what I believe to be the correct approach)

We can say all day that it's all down to personal opinion/preference, but the aim is to sell tickets, and they method is resulting in(what i'm sure are a lot of people, myself included) not buying tickets

Again, you may say it's an undetermined number of people, as you're a mod, and are being objective, but I am being objective and also realistic, in saying that the fact is, the majority of people buy tickets based on guest list

It's nothing to do with me being a mod, it was what the intent of my original post was supposed to be. At the time I made the original post I was giving no thought to actual numbers.

I fully agree that the amount of people like myself who buy a ticket purely based on the event rather than any guest/s would be in the minority.

Normally there is a guest or two announced initially along with the event announcement.

The circumstances this time are slightly different to normal as whilst there were guests announced initially, the event was postponed. Therefore the event has changed date and I can only assume that the availbility of the original guests may still be under negotiation, along with that of further guests who are being sought.

It is tricky. I've seen events sell out completely without a guest, but then I suppose they are aimed at a wider market and not completely guest based. Unlike these cons where I do understand guests are generally the main pull for the majority.

I imagine if it is the first ever convention for a brand new hit show then initial ticket sales are likely to be higher than for a 'normal' show, i.e. one that is established/been around for a while/etc.

Although it has been around for a long time, Trek still has a huge fanbase and I would hope that the support for a UK convention is still there. To be fair I may be slightly biased/excitable as I have never been to a pure Trek con before

Everyone is at Milton Keynes at the moment for Collectormania so there won't be any news of any kind until that's over. And even then it may be a while before we hear anything. I'm sure that as soon as SM/ME have some information to give us, they will.

I can only assume Tony has picked something up on the grapevine in Milton Keynes?

If this is the case I am sure the announcement will be made on here after SM are back in the office.

not surprising all considered with how this events prep/announcements have gone over the last year, but massive massive shame if true. the uk deserves a trek con. saying that though, CM & LFCC have and have had so many great trek guests it doesnt really make a difference.
