What is the drinks reception like? Normally I go silver but thought I'd go gold this time as the guests are so good.

I went to HalloWhedon 1 and that pretty much meant that the guests and Goldcards go into a room. The cardholders are devided into groups and per group you can chat for a while with the guest. There are people there to make sure that every one gets a chance to ask your question. I'm not sure if this changed, but that's what I remember. I, of course, was way to shy and blown away to be close to them to actually ask something.
Ow, and of course there are drinks :D.

Glad to see the organisation for the meet and greet has changed in line with other cons to have seated tables in groups so everyone should get a chance to speak to the guest if they want to, this should work better this time.

As far as I am aware it is not seated.

From another ME event earlier this year.

View PostToo Tall, on Mar 22 2011, 11:54 AM, said:

The ones you've been to have likely been smaller ones (less than 80 gold pass holders) were we've not been as strict, and just allowed the guests to wonder as they please (with a GA).

At the larger events like Twilight we are a lot more strict. We have the 12 tables and each guest is brought to each table. So as long as you stay at your table, you WILL receive ALL of the guests.

There are 2 issues with it being seated:

1: There is a huge issue with space if we sit everyone. We would need at least double if not triple the space to sit everyone instead of standing.

2: ME want it to be a drinks reception and not seated meet and great. It's always been the idea that it's informal and not really really ridged, which if everyone is seated it turns from being an informal drinks reception into a "pass the guest" party. With having 12 tables and bringing each guest to each table it's already got slightly more ridged but that's really as far as we want it to go.

People may disagree but ME don't want it to get too ridged.

In your how it works section on the front page it does state it would be 10 tables and the guests would be bought round thats how i picked it up as having changed?.

I've been to the last 2 HW gold pass receptions, although i go to other organisers events who have seated meet & greets. The last 2 HW receptions were chaos tbh we had big groups backing the 5 guests into a corner of a small room & only those at the front could hear anything,or got to ask a question it was not good at all.
I was sure i read this was changing now we're at the Rad which has more space  & that it would be seated and more organised. As we have only 4 guests this time surely this means the same thing is going to happen & you'll have 4 groups of 20+ crowding a guest again.?

Can someone please clarify as i know i am confused by the different info.

It works exactly the same way as it would if it were a seated thing, only standing around bar-type tables instead of sitting down.

I have done the meet and greets at HW1 and HW2 it was too cramped in the small room and i couldn't hear a thing. I attended a con at the Raddisson Edwardian 5 months ago (sorry ME please don't shoot me  :D  ) and it was a sit down affair. There is a large room already set up with round tables and it was farrrrrrr better. Yes it was a game of pass the guest but it WAS NOT AT ALL RIDGED as ME seems to think, it was still totally informal. All the guests were relaxed and everyone at the table got to ask a question and chat. The thing I liked most is that there were no strict rules about it only being for an hour. The guests took their time and got round everyone  in their own time, it was awesome. While we were waiting for guests we just chatted with ev1 around the table to pass the time. I had an amazing weekend. Nearly as good as an ME event.   :D
:D     :D      :D      :D

So looking forward to HW3

Probably best to e-mail Yvie at info@collectormania.com but when I did this for a friend at ET5, they asked me to bring a letter from her giving me her authorisation to collect her registration pack and autographs for her, so you should definitely get that sorted too.

If you're a Silver ticket, is your autograph pre-bought or do you just get a free picture to get signed?
MY TOP 5 REQUESTS FOR HALLOWHEDON 4 :

1. Seth Green (Buffy)
2. James Marsters (Buffy/Angel)
3. Eliza Dushku (Buffy/Angel/Dollhouse)
4. Alexis Denisof (Buffy/Angel)

But if any of them showed up, I'd be the happiest girl on earth: Amy Acker, Marc Blucas, Kristine Sutherland, David Boreanaz, Michelle Trachtenberg, Emma Caulfield, Danny Strong, Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite, Summer Glau and Stephanie Romanov.

Thank you so much for listening.

If you're Silver, you get one photo and one autograph included in the price. You get a free photo, but you aren't obliged to get the autograph on that.

Hoping some from SM will see this.  I do not have a ticket yet but wanted to know whether I could turn up on Sunday morning and buy my ticket and participate in the auto sessions and photo sessions that morning?

I guess my main questions (and apologies if these are elsewhere)...will I still be able to get a Silver ticket on Sunday morning?  If so, what time would I need to be there?  Then, what time do the photoshoots and auto sessions begin?

I hope someone can answer these for me...I didn't think I could attend (and almost cannot) but could make Sunday morning until early afternoon.  I assume I would need to pay with cash for the ticket Sunday morning?

Photo and auto sessions usually begin around 9am (sometimes later). I'm pretty sure you should be able to just turn up and buy a ticket at any point after about 8ish Sunday morning (Tickets for HW4 will be going on sale that morning so be sure to make it clear what you want to buy!)

They do (usually at least) have a card machine so you might be able to pay by card.

You can purchase tickets on the day, either with cash or card. The schedule has not been announced yet but normally the auto/photo sessions starts around 9am, with registration from 8am onwards.

You are my saviour on this forum   Thank you for the quick reply.  That sounds great and I can get there before 9 on the Sunday.  Do you happen to know whether tickets will still be available?  (Obviously I realise you cannot guarantee anything, just wondering if it's likely there will still be tickets left).  To be honest, getting autos will be my main priority :)

Thanks again for your help :D
